  1. And a batman costume... (only worn for kids parties, of course...)
  2. Just popped in to watch the show with my son. Got in the park at 10:45 for the 11:30 and headed straight for the theatre - line was already snaking back to wipeout. The show was good, fun, high energy and just what dreamworld needed. even walking in it was the first time I’ve felt “atmosphere” in the park for a long time. The key now is how that leverage that and keep raising the bar
  3. It would be fantastic, but by the time they order, construct and open a woodie, would TOT2 and HWSW have more than a couple of years of life left in them?
  4. The uniqueness of it is what makes it popular. It’s every second weekend it loses its appeal, especially during winter. It also can’t happen at the expense of day trade. Summer holidays, sure stay open until 10 every week, but many of us have been calling for late trade during summer at all the parks for years
  5. @Jobe I generally enjoy your posts and input on this forum, and I can genuinely say that applies to pretty much everyone involved except for the annoying overseas guy wanting photos of SDSC 2.0. People who have differing or left field ideas, interests or opinions to the majority, or challenge the norm, are always going to be open to more questioning, banter and spotlight than others, that’s generally how most of society works, irrespective of if you are on a forum, in a lunchroom in an office or on a worksite. In “the real world” people learn to accept and embrace that they see things through a slightly different lense, and generally the banter and jokes they receive are taken in the spirit through which they are delivered. Unfortunately in the online world the ability to decipher intent, tone, sarcasm etc are entirely personal as you don’t have human cues or online ears to hear delivery. Therefore your inner voice or the way you perceive things naturally - be that positively, negatively or indifferently - can determine how you perceive the intent of a text comment. I’ve never met a single person on this forum and have no idea if Alex is a 12 year old girl or Skeet is a 90 year old war veteran, to me they are people who my mind determines are probably not so different to me in the real world. That could be spot on or possibly could not be further from the truth. I’m here to have fun, share a passion, expand my knowledge and experience things through others accounts of their experiences. I’d like to think everyone else here is as well, so therefore when banter that I could understand could offend pops up, I make a rationale decision that it’s not intended to be as such, as why would it be? Why would anyone here want to personally hurt, upset, “bully” anyone? I don’t think they would, so I don’t try to find that outcome in what I am reading. Look for the good in people, not the bad. This forum isn’t overly moderated, which is amazing, as I’m a member of many that are and they are not enjoyable. If the mods think something goes beyond banter, joking or ribbing, or believe that it could be perceived to be, I have faith that it would be deleted and the person warned.
  6. Meh. No one has been bullied. Sick of people throwing that word around who have no clue what bullying truly is, and how the inaccurate use of it to describe someone who simply disagrees with you and provides a reason for it, just dilutes it (thanks for the 6 month delayed fountain you just threw me for the last time I commented about this in another post @Jobe). My dad told me something when I was younger that has always stayed with me - no one will take the time to bother to criticise, insult or tease you if they didn’t care about you or what you have to say. If they didn’t care, they’d simply ignore you. (Or block you these days). Take a bit of ribbing or banter for what it is, and don’t let the thoughts & comments of people who you have no real relationship with affect you in a negative way
  7. Save for an extra year or two and go to the states. we were throwing up the same ideas as you now are this time 18 months ago and decided to wait until our son was 6-7 and do it the “proper way” (Disneyland). We’re heading to LA mid next year when he can appreciate it a little more and keep the memories outside of just photos & videos. Funnily enough my earliest vivid memory from childhood that is still retained is Disneyland when I was 6 and a half.
  8. Whilst I wouldn’t expect them to remove it in time for FNs this year, I wouldn’t be expecting it to still be there in 3 years....
  9. Have to say, I have absolute NFI what the rationale or reasoning for any of that is at all..
  10. Seems the greatest trick Consentino has done is make people appear at Dreamworld.
  11. Well you can take it that we won’t have SV anytime in the next few months if that sign has gone down in favour of a sales gimmick that won’t work...
  12. Disappointing with the holidays starting tomorrow, but if it’s unexpected, what can you do!
  13. It’s usually about $28 for popcorn & a drink so I guess you are really only paying $2 to jump the 6 people in the queue..
  14. They need buy 1 get 3 free passes if they want people to go back there
  15. Three women left dangling from ferris wheel at Circular Quay APRIL 01, 2019 Three terrified women were left dangling near the top of a ferris wheel at Circular Quay yesterday after a carriage door was ripped off and crashed to the ground as it turned. The women could be heard screaming “we’re going to die” as they clung to the carriage, which was hanging at an angle after the door disappeared below them. Three terrified women were left dangling near the top of a ferris wheel at Circular Quay yesterday. The ferris wheel, which is part of Smith’s chips Spin To Win promotion, has been shut down while PepsiCo, which owns the Smith’s brand, investigates the incident. The mother of one of the women, Angie Kelly,” said the incident had left her daughter “very shaken”. “She thought ‘this is it, I’m going to die’,” Ms Kelly said. “She told me: ‘In my head I thought is this really it?’ ”. The three women were part of the marketing team promoting the brand’s Spin to Win competition. One of them was taken to hospital with a suspected crushed hand after the incident at lunchtime. Ms Kelly said: “She told me they got on to the carriage on the ferris wheel and something caught on the door and tore it off. It crashed to the ground when they were two from the top. “The carriage itself came away and lurched forward and two of them were flung on to the other girl because it was at an angle and dangling, swinging, with no door. They were on the floor and clinging to the other edge, screaming their heads off.” “They were dangling at the same height as passengers board cruise ships. It was a long way up.” The ferris wheel, which is part of Smith’s chips Spin To Win promotion “After Dream World wouldn’t you think corporate Australia would be paying attention to safety standards? Who is checking these machines? Who lets randoms put precious children on death machines? “How about if there had been younger children in there who had no idea what to do?” “Pepsico Smith’s Chips, a tragedy (was) averted today but do we need a mother to watch her child fall out of a Ferris wheel carriage before something is done to keep people safe at your events?” Emergency services went to Circular Quay at 12.40pm after reports of an incident on the ferris wheel. Police confirmed a woman had injured her hand when the door had come off. The mother says the ride had been open to the public for an hour before the incident happened, with three other young girls in another carriage. PepsiCo have responded with a statement today that reads: ‘A promotional team member’s arm was injured yesterday. She was treated and released from hospital. Safety is our top priority, and we deeply regret that this occurred. ‘Comprehensive safety checks were undertaken and usage permits were granted before the ferris wheel was operational. ‘The ferris wheel was immediately stopped when the incident occurred. ‘We are working closely with our supplier to understand how this happened. The ferris wheel will not be operational until both PepsiCo and the relevant authorities are completely satisfied it is safe.’
  16. Whilst I’m not interested in the semantics of dictionary definitions - it’s an extremely poorly planned and thought out idea. to tell people you’ll be broadcasting live from somewhere you have yet to receive permission to do so from is straight up dumb. To then get annoyed when your request is denied because a) you didn’t have prior permission and b) it contravenes the rules of the park, is just doubling down on dumb. to then record and post a video whinging about your poor planning and lack of forethough and somehow making that the parks fault, isn’t tripling down on dumb, it’s just flat out stupid. Lets leave “tantrum” aside, as I prefer “hissy fit”. "Hissy fit" used to describe an adult tantrum but now has become an equal opportunity description, young or old, male or female. What they all have in common is no matter how severe the (alleged) offense, there is always some wounded pride involved, and usually an audience of bystanders along with the culprit who allegedly triggered the hissy.
  17. Complete tantrum. if things don’t go your way or as planned, you suck it up and leave. Well, that’s what adults do. Fair enough if they said get f**ked and turned the hose on you, then have a whinge, but this public “I didn’t get my way wahhhh” just makes them look immature and if anything turns off other parks from giving them access in the future.
  18. But I have a coupon for a Buy 1 Get 1 Free Hypercoaster...
  19. You asked if anything has happened to the right... Right led to right wing politics which led to comparison between dreamworld and the government you started it.
  20. Haha, someone didn’t like my thread title and changed it...
  21. Haha. Was a pretty old movie by the time I was a kid but an Absolute classic.
  22. The fire shooting truck-boat I’ve heard about sounds fantastic. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on steroids.. Speaking of Chitty, if we had a forum Child Catcher we’d have far less rubbish. The Vulgarians were onto something
  23. And the government is paying for it! A STATE-of-the-art animal research centre will be built at one of the Gold Coast’s biggest theme parks. The State Government will this morning announce it will spend $2.7 million in partnership with Dreamworld to expand the park’s Corroboree and wildlife area. It will include the Dreamworld Future Lab, a “world-class’ facility which will be the state’s first native animal genome research facility. Baby Koalas at the Corroboree park at Dreamworld. Pic Jono Searle. Gold Coast-based Assistant Tourism Industry Development Minister Meaghan Scanlon said the new development was the latest step in diversifying the city’s economy. “It will allow us to deploy experts to tackle some of the biggest issues facing our native wildlife — like the threat of chlamydia on the local koala population,” she said. The 25-year-old Wipeout was decommissioned recently while the park launched it’s Sky Voyager virtual reality ride. (*cough* BULLSHIT *cough*) Once open, it will allow school groups and visits to get a first-hand look at research being performed. Tourism Minister Kate Jones said the project would be funded through the State Government’s Advance Queensland Connecting with Asia initiative. (AAP Image/Darren England) “When it’s complete, the Future Lab will be the only operational scientific laboratory in Queensland that will have the practical capability to create a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) tourism experience visitors based on the conservation of koalas and other wildlife,” she said. “The Dreamworld Future Lab will give our experts vital access to native species and will help to build on Queensland’s world-leading reputation for science and technology.” Dreamworld’s General Manager Life Sciences, Al Mucci said he believed the development would be a “world-first” by allowing the public to see the researchers working on current wildlife conservation projects.
