  1. The video title has Best worst park.. and it refers to how shit the front part of the park is compared to the back - and the standout of the park was their operations (including the use of turnstyles)
  2. Well they should just let you take your phone in in zippered pockets then Just food for thought: also skip foward to the 15 minute mark.
  3. To be fair driving around a really fast car is a lot more fun than looking at a locked iPhone.
  4. I mean it works in other parks - so it makes sense why it wouldn’t work here. The better alternative is putting SV style pockets on the trains - but that costs money. There’s enough from from the bottom of the seat to the floor of the train.
  5. Put the tray on safe side of the unload station. Easy.
  6. Not having your phone for a 60 minute wait is very old school. The closest thing to this that I can think of is Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and Hulk - but everything else either has phone sized pockets on the train (Steel Vengeance for example) or more modern rides with two way lockers that work off park tickets/AP's/any barcode (VelociCoaster) ... but these are all high capacity machines. I reckon the ideal way for them to fix this (and it's free) without considerably slowing down ops (hard at this point) is to just have the platform ops pass around a tray for phones and or items that fit in pockets - then leave it at the exit for when they disembark. Sea World San Diego do this for Sky Rocket.
  7. The dual station layout of superman is dumb. A single load/unload platform along with a loose articles area that can be accessed via the exit (like bluefire) would be so much more efficent (and if guests can have their phones for the entire queue - happier guests too)
  8. Not putting much effort into my posts latetly because they've been mysteriously disappearing. Here's some more: Opening entry airgates just after the train is unlocked. Closing entry airgates immeditely once the riders have advanced (this allows more time to prepare the next train) Self grouping in quiet periods Adding screens on platforms for attendants to indicate which seats are locked or not Countdown timers for dispatch targets You've witnessed an isolated incident - I've reridden countless coasters (including Six Flags that have very safe but fast operations) where they actually did follow a smarter procedure - resecure the train after closing the exit gate - or better still - never unlocking the train in the first place. These points arent mutually exclusive
  9. Regardless of laws involved there's heaps of things they do that have nothing to do with safety that hinders operations Running one train in peak periods Not allowing rerides without exiting platform Rivals RFID thingy the list goes on..
  10. If I was a uneducated international tourist and presented with the obsene "on the day" ticket price - I'd be doing a walk through. The question still stands - why are LPS ops better than GC parks?
  11. Ride safety and efficient ops aren’t mutually exclusive. This is demonstrated daily around the planet. Why do they have better ops then?
  12. Sorry that the simple practice of letting staff ride the ride one more time after park hours, instead of delaying paid guests upsets you.
  13. I’m fine if they do that - but do it the same way Disney did it. After the ride was closed to the public.
  14. They just need to get fire systems work with haze. But they cost more ;(
  15. From what I’ve heard about of cars that are actually operating on the track - I don’t think stacking is a valid threat Edit: After a second thought about how slow the operations are … maybe.
  16. I did a huge europe trip last year - at every park I managed to get every single roller coaster that was open on the one day (with the exception of Thorpe Park and Alton Towers.. Merlin sucks. Wicker Man was the only coaster not open for my visit) No prior planning was required. I had enough time to do shows, eat food and ride flat and dark rides. For the size of our parks this is a reasonable expectation. For context I visited April/May - although it wasn't peak, most of the parks were full of school kids (especially the merlin ones). You've gotta understand that if you take your family (2 adults, 2 children) to the parks .. for over $440... $~50 per hour for your day, it is a reasonable expectation that you will do all the attractions that you wish to do. With the limited opening hours (which surprises all the thoosies coming through now) and the rubbish operations - it simply is not possible, and it should be. With the express pass you're looking at over $1,000.. for one day.
  17. What about incentives? Sea World USA/ Universal have the riders and or trains per hour displayed publicy.
  18. Luna Park Sydney staff seem to be much more efficient than all of the GC parks combined
  19. This got poo-poo'd before.. but they could just like extend the hours during peak summer. Wouldn't hurt to operate to 8-9pm.
  20. I just wish they tried *something* to improve the general guest experience. Tusenfryd rotates crew around each position every hour or so (within the attractions and around the park) maybe that will work against the Australian nature?
  21. You shouldn't have to have a plan to be able to on most of the rides in one day.... there's a lot of assuming going on with your posts rebutted by @Guest 239's hard data
  22. Check the google reviews - it's littered with similar experiences.
  23. Paying $400 to enter the park and achieve 2 maybe 3 rides ruins peoples days. You can't argue with that. The procedures are way over the top - there's no reason why the ride can operate as linked above, without a seatbelt, without attendants pushing down on every restraint and without using a RFID verify. Eliminate all these things and everyone is happier! (except for the marginal drop in express passes I guess)
