  1. Look to be going above the bare minimum which I like
  2. So many things here... Firstly the pouch thing won't work, because it's OPTIONAL, you can remove the items and also doesn't work for bags. Please go back to my precious comments about insurance... And also I've already said my bit about it being a revenue exercise. Then in regards to closures... Just because we don't see a sign of replacements doesn't mean they aren't in the works (and please don't any idiots say that I must know something because that's not what I mean). For all you know a new attraction could be signed off, designed and bought with construction starting immediately after green lantern. Maybe not, but we as enthusiats don't know. Then there's the ride choices and direction itself... Agree with it or disagree but it's US the customers that control this NOT park management. Enthusiasts are a ridiculously insignificant portion of the customer base for a theme park. The video game world has greatly changed the Australian tourist forever, immersive experiences are so common in the home and cinema it's no longer enough for a theme park. People want thrills, it's sad but it's true. And thrills combined with an immersive experience is REALLY expensive, an expense which I don't know the Australian economy can support for now at least. To say the park is going downhill is really just quite incorrect... The current management has delivered the most successful yearly results on record, and visitation isn't decreasing. Not too long ago there were a lot of complaints about entertainment in the park and look now, I think the entertainment department is going from success story to success story. As for Green Lantern, just from home but go take one look at the thing and I think you'll change your mind. Every day when I drive past I just keep getting more excited for how awesome this thing is gonna be. I recon it will give superman a run for it's money!
  3. I'm not going to offer any personal opinion here just some clear facts for everyone... Firstly all business require permits to operate, it's not just a case of blanket noise restrictions as quotes above. Movie World only has a permit from council to operate external rides until 9pm. That's it, end of story. It's also not just as simple as running the rides any time they feel like until 9pm. The park needs permission for all night time operation. If say a bunch of staff were going to ride an attraction on a normal day of the week at 8pm they would have to do so without screaming to avoid getting the park in trouble. You see its not the rides that are the noise problem, its actually the people riding them. Secondly for anything like a no loose articles policy, or any of the safety type matters that may concern people... It's not the parks (or any business) that dictates these policies, it's the insurance companies. Simple as this, you can't run say a ride without insurance (and if you could you'd be a moron) and insurance companies won't insure you unless they are happy. So if for instance the insurance companies after 20 years decided they now want no loose articles on a ride, that's, it, park has no choice. So it's the insurance companies, and from my observations across the country Australia would by far be the worst country in the world for stupid insurance stuff, much worse than America and just a joke compared to Europe, that create these policies, not the parks revenue departments. One opinion I will give is that for the modest amount the park would make from lockers, its not worth having a no loose items policy just to create that revenue stream. It's much easier just to let guests on unchecked and even saves money in wages. As for ride closures, if it's not scheduled maintenance then its sadly just bad luck. Given the massive storm we had last night, I'd dare say it may have something to do with the above mentioned rides no operating today.
  4. The beauty of Movie world is the Indian theme of mystery lodge would fit into western town perfectly, without any change. And at a million bucks it's very cheap! I also agree a soarin ride in the showstage area would be a PERFECT attraction for movie world.
  5. I thought Mystery Lodge was actually incredibly well done. It's not your heart stopping thrill ride granted, but it's a pretty damn good little show that you don't expect to be there.
  6. I waited 3 HOURS to get on X (the original) and then the next visit another 2 HOURS, but you don't travel to the other side of the world and then pass up on a one of a kind ride. Other than that probably 80 minutes to ride splash mountain on one visit.
  7. Not even going to answer that given how many times that question has already been answered.
  8. It looks that way but it's just the perspective. It's more in line with the height of the blue supports for the Superman Top Hat. It certainly does look impressive though.
  9. I had to quote this whole post because serious WHAT EVENT WERE YOU AT? In no way is this years event toned DOWN from 2 years ago, it's the complete opposite. This is in no way a family friendly event and the actors and entertainment reflects this. I have attended fright nights for the last several years and this year is definitely the most adult so far and the amount of people I saw running screaming on main street says to me there are plenty of actors. I'm not sure what you are expecting but this is exactly like the number 1 halloween event which is Universal in Orlando. Except there you have more than 1 hour waits for EVERY maze all night. I think the mistake people make is they hit the mazes first and then miss out on time for the rides they want to see. The event runs till 11 pm so why not do the mazes after the rides shut? I know I cannot fit everything I would want to do at the event in one night, so maybe your're missing some of what it has to offer.
  10. So it works by sensors installed all through the ride/que? How about just use the disney system which beeps at the front of the line attendant telling them to issue a card to a guest, which they carry through the que, and hand in at the end where it's swiped. Ride time updates which goes through to the stanby/fastpass system and all through the park? To be honest, this won't get installed. Installing equipment in a theme park/ride requires a lot of regulations and approvals.
  11. Any site that advertises Fright Nights is OK with me But seriously, some constructive criticism is that success is all about point of difference. It's no different than 2 theme parks installing the same ride, you need a point of difference. Theme park review is successful because its point of difference is that it's not just about hard core theme park nerdism, it's fun. Parkz is much the same, make your site stand out. This is why I like the Thrill History facebook page, it's different and thus is interesting.
  12. OMG, too funny to moderate!
  13. I agree on the pricing also. As for Dave, nice when a new member seems to actually get the spirit of what Parkz is all about!
  14. It works/worked well. The new soundtrack for this parade also works great IMO, it's a really solid parade offering for the special event.
  15. Careful Dave, don't try and take on the multi national superpower corporation that is the might Outsiders... very appropriate name that one
  16. It read to me as the woman was recounting what he said, or did I read wrong? Given that's one of the highest responsibility roles at the park I would say they are very equipped to speak to the media.
  17. ^ It's s very simple maze concept but extremely effective!
  18. See she completely lost me with her "people are killed all the time" line. Every death us too much. After each fatility steps are always taken to make sure they don't happen again. The Big Thunder death saw a change to procedures and maintenance at Disney. The ejection deaths of overweight people saw a redesign of intamins restraints, and changes to existing rides. The solution to stop amputees falling out is probably to stop the amputees riding. It's no different, it's just unfortunate that she is affected.
  19. Hope everyone enjoys the preview tomorrow and the event works out a win for the park and you guys. Should result in more for the future.
  20. Standby for a new song to be stuck in your head for eternity!
  21. This parkz member has nothing to do with the movie world parade.
  22. I'm definitely unbiassed on this one but yes, I do like.
  23. And you never know what other luck you might have either Having said that obviously this is a PREVIEW event so attendees should be prepared that its a whole 2 weeks out from the event so there may be many finishing touches left to add around the place...
  24. I think you guys will like the parade
