Western Action Show

The Western Action Show was fantastic. The atmosphere, the special effects, everything. It was located in the ampitheatre (which later became an enclosed theatre for the crappy Maverick show) in the western themed section. You can still see the building now, although I don't think it's used for anything anymore. It was definitely one of the highlights of a trip to Movie World in the early-mid 90's

The Western Action Show opened with the park. The western area has been there since the park opened, however the "better half" of it was added with the WWW/WWF expansion in 1998. The two areas are easily distinguished by the pathing - the old half is painted bitumen, the new half is textured concrete. I have always believed that this original Western show was the best show the park has ever had. It combined all the usual western tricks and gags, and it had some of the best pre-show entertainment around (even Police Academy's stuff didn't give this a run for its money). It was a shame that they decided to replace it with Maverick (obviously good for cross-promotional purposes), which was a very lackluster show.
