Did the quick trip and this is what I have.

1. Roughly the line where the site office is and the temp fence finishes.

2. Nothing has happened in this area. (this includes no pegs sighted).

3. This is the hot zone of construction and all the footers are going in.

4. Pegs in this area but nothing else has happened.

5. Land has been screeded and some reo cages laying on their sides.

Took some super doggy iphone photos from the car park.

A. Metal formwork

B. Footer poured with formwork still attached

C. Cage with bolts attached waiting on the formwork

D. Completed footer waiting for the poles to arrive on site.

A1. Shows this footer is only 1 meter from the road.

You can also see the tie-down rods which will attach the main structure of the coaster to the footer.

Do you think the coaster will venture into the area between 3 and 1?

Be patient Ryande - people will post pics as they take them. Us asking won't suddenly remind them to post them.

True! If i lived up on the Gold Coast i wouldnt be asking as i would most likely drive past or catch a bus most days to check out the progross. But unfortunately im from Melbourne so i cant, which is why im asking. Sorry if im impatience guys,  im just really excited!!!

Because members are very eager for new developments on this new rollercoaster, I've just quickly made a 'timetable' based on how construction occurred with SE. SE was constructed over 330 days (from date of Movie Magic Special Effects Show's closure) while this new rollercoaster is over a 550 day period approximately (assuming 26/12/2017 opening & taken from 01/07/2016) .

Here is how SE was constructed:

  • 20 December 2004 - 'Superman themed' rollercoaster announced
  • 30 January 2005 to late March 2005 (approx.) - Movie Magic Special Effects Show Closure/Demolition
  • Early April 2005 (approx.) to late July 2005 (45%) - Site preparation/footings placed
  • Early August 2005 to early October 2005 (26%) - Track installation
  • Early October 2005 to 26 December 2005 (32%) - Theming/Landscaping
  • 26 December 2005 - Opening

Note: Percentages are taken from 01/04/2005 to 26/12/2005 and overlap.

This is my guess timetable for the new rollercoaster. This is assuming the rollercoaster opens on Boxing Day 2017:

  1. Early July 2016 to early March 2017 (45%) - Site preparation/footing placement
  2. Mid-November 2016 - Currently most likely time period for rollercoaster announcement
  3. Early March to late July 2017 (26%) - Track installation
  4. Late July 2017 to 26 December 2017 (32%) - Theming/landscaping
  5. 26 December 2017 - Opening

Note: Percentages are taken from 01/07/2016 to 26/12/2017 and overlap.

Note: Unlike in the SE timetable, ride/attraction closure/demolition isn't included in the 2017 rollercoaster timetable as no rides/attractions were closed to make way for this new rollercoaster.

Every project is different so please remember, this is just an indicative guide and all time periods are approximate.

So if this is a Boxing Day opening, this is a massive coaster and the footings placement will take a very long time (if this timetable eventually proves to be roughly accurate).

Just did a quick guess calculation on the length of the new rollercoaster using the time periods for track installation in the timetables above plus the length of SE. The guess results in an approximately 1.9km long rollercoaster.

^Just to add to my rollercoaster length guess above^

1.9km is far more realistic than the 4km length rumour from about a week ago (which was extremely unlikely to be true given, for starters, it is nearly twice the length of the world's longest steel rollercoaster) and puts it up with California Screamin' length wise (California Screamin' covers less square metres than MW's new rollercoaster construction site too).

@reanimated35 they are talking about MW's new roller coaster. Which if I remember correctly is what this thread was made for.

Straight through to the keeper
