Had an old hard drive recovered recently.

In Feb 2005 I went to Dreamworld and in Dec 2005, Movieworld.

Up first are the Dreamworld pics. Enjoy the park as it was thirteen years ago. Damn I'm getting old...

Claw:

Cyclone:

White Water World? That a waterpark? Like the Blue Lagoon?

These were taken from Cyclone's exterior ramp, spiraling around the turbine building. No White Water World, Flow Rider, Kevil. The concrete slabs are Thunderbolt's footprint I believe, and back of the 2nd picture you can see white coaster track.

Thunderbolt's remains:

Taken from Cyclone's then exit, the station and infield of Thunderbolt. The shiny area near the roof on the left inside the station was ads for (from memory) Ice Creams, other rides, and Gold Coast attractions. The green concrete slab in the 2nd picture was either part of the kiddie go-kart track on the infield of Thunderbolt, or maybe the queue. Thinking queue.

Wipeout:

Ooo! Shark!

Steamtrain:

Already posted in another thread for T Bone to enjoy.

Avis Vintage Cars:

Pre-MDMC. Looked much more natural in this location. Car pictured was for photo-ops. Way better ride station.

Tower of Terror:

Forwards facing, no tunnel.

Taken from Giant Drop entry/archway, I think.

Taken from exit of Giant Drop.

Next time, Movie World. Remember the days before the Main Street shadesail?

Awesome photos @Glubbo thanks for sharing. Looking at these photos, I just can't believe how much the park has changed and I look forward to seeing the photos you have from MW. Definitely one of the biggest things I miss from this period was the Vintage Cars old location. They were just so much more awesome and popular in that location.

Great photos @Glubbo great to see how much the park has improved. Quite a few ot your photos are interesting to me, specifically the ones from Cyclone (HWSW) and from it’s que area since I had never been to the Dreamworld before WWW, Flowrider and Kevil hill were built, (I was still a baby) I am so used to the HWSW weaving through the slide tower and the area as whole being a bit more full. Another thing I noticed was the shark in Wipeout’s pool. I have always known that Wipeout had a shark in the water and that it was removed due to the drought and them emptying the pool to save water but this is the first picture I have seen with the shark. Can someone please tell did the shark move around or bob in and out of the water, etc or was it stationary? Thanks again Glubbo for the pictures, I really can not wait to see your pictures of Movieworld.

Loved the old Vintage Cars area.. As a kid we'd try and time it so we'd be under the Tower of Terror as it went flying above. Awesome photos, great memories of a better time.

Thanks for the nice words. Yeah the shark was on a circular underwater track. It just did circles under the ride.

Found an old harddrive with hundreds of photos between 95 - late 2000's love the old thunderbolt.

Those are some great photos @RobC.

Thanks mate, only just realised the one of us overlooking the tower of terror doesn't have the giant drop being built on it. Can't remember seeing a photo without it.

I doubt it @Tim Dasco, the Dreamworld unit was at the end of its life and was scrapped. The unit that was on the circuit would have been one of the many other rides of the same build.

@RobC the dinosaur ride you are referring to was possibly the creature cruise, a short lived water boat ride.

Love the photos, thank you for sharing them.

That would have definitely been it!

Found a couple more oldies from 99 - 01.

Now memory is vague, but I remember around 2001 they added a bunch of what seemed like carnival rides? I had forgotten about it until I seen these, I think they were near tiger island.. Same place they would use to bring in the motorbike dome of death.

Thanks for these! Skull and entry was so much better "out front". I also want to make that vintage car station in Planet Coaster now :D

Please do! Wish I had some creativity in that game but it seems after 100+ hours all I do is build massive coasters haha.

Aside from giving much needed shelter from the rain/sun, the main st cover at movieworld really knocked down the visual appeal of the park a few notches.

Interesting to see

ALI BABA, CHAOS & SCORPION operating at the park, I never knew that happened.... all three rides are operating, although I think Chaos lives up in the NT now.

Ali baba is in horrible condition, and Scorpion can be found here and there, especially down at Rye every summer with Wittingslow.

thanks for the photos!
