Vertical construction on Boomerang has started and Bug looks basically complete

So this evening was the first time in two years that I got the chance to head down to Luna Park again, and I was able to observe the renovations myself. Of course I managed to get an overview of Maloney's Corner from the office balcony; work on Boomerang seems more or less the same as Baconjack's photos, Little Nipper seems all but complete as does the Whirly Bug (I refuse to call it "Bug" out of principle. Sue me).

I did notice that the Rockin' Tug still seems to be at the park which I found interesting.

The Big Dipper platform has become a space for storing tracks for the Boomerang. Work has not yet begun on renovating the dodgem building exterior.

A shark body is just sticking out behind the work fencing. This could either be the coaster carriage for the ride, or it's a new "bridge" for the ride entrance. I really hope it's the latter; Luna Park is in desperate need for some decent bridges like the days of old.

Lavender green is blocked off from view but is being used as storage for more Boomerang tracks and other equipment.

So having finally seen the renovations in person now, I must say I'm pretty pleased with what's going on. I just hope these reno works extend to the rest of the park, cause it looks like it could do a with a massive repaint in many areas and given a consistent theming throughout. Particularly at the entrance around the carousel and The Deck.

love seeing the updates they seem to be going up so quick, guess that's what happens when you already have a massive concrete slab to start with

Doesn't look like its on a trailer though. You better tack on $20,000 for transport and refurbishment costs.

I had a couple more pics of track pieces that were picked up by the crane, Also does anyone else think that they will eventually lay a new layer of concrete over this area?

Damn these rides are coming up real quick. Might be finished with Maloney’s Corner quicker than I thought. Might give them more time to refresh the rest of the park south of Coney Island cause as has been said before, some spots REALLY need it.

The most interesting thing to me in the new website is the new pricing structure, looks like peak tickets could be as high as $70-80 based on thats how much an undated ticket will cost.

Annuals have jumped substantially from $109/$139 to $199.

With this level of investment, asking a realistic price for an annual pass is a welcome change. No more cheap annual passes!

I just purchased mine and i think it's worth the price seeing i'll be there almost every weekend and on opening day

Luna Play is interesting too, bit of gamification.

 

I bought mine as well, considering it'll pretty much have paid for itself the amount of times I'll be hopping into the park just to get spins on Big Dipper when it's up and running including on opening day
