What i'm waiting for is the posts about Surfrider moving to SW when it goes down for its annual maintenance.

The positioning of the Flying Carousel has been confirmed by Brad Loxley, the Senior Amusement Park Manager, and that is on he old Flying saucer site. Of course, that was well over 12 months ago but I dont think that plans have changed in that period of time. In reality, I dont think you could get a better site than this for this type of ride- the elevated position of the ride will give it an extra thrill factor as the ride rotates and swings out across the Midway. Will look fabulous!! In other news Brad Loxley, the aforementioned senior rides manager at Luna Park, has left the park to take up a position in Vietnam's Sun World. This is a huge loss for the park as Brad had worked at the park for well over 20 years and is well respected in the industry. I had managed to strike up an excellent relationship with Brad over the years and conversed on quite a number of subjects relating to the park, he was nothing but a consummate professional and his love for Luna Park was great to see. Luna Park is now looking for a senior Manager to fill his shoes!!! Just came across this video, about what was behind Wonderland closing (although everyone in this group probably knows it was because of Sunways mismanagement and blaming everyone but themselves for the closure). It also mentions a proposed new park opening in 2022 at https://odysseyparksandresorts.com/2017/11/07/worlds-of-wonder-sydney-in-iaapas-funworld/, which we've probably all heard of before, but this time with an opening date of 2022. Although that was two years ago so who knows what their plans are now.

Well... just back from Carnivale and what can I say but VTP striking out 3 times with all 3 night events noticably poorer in quality & quantity to their previous runs. - less food options, and of those options the quality was worse - no stage in the main food area anymore, so no live singing at all, just the odd roving entertainment coming through and the girl swinging off the rope/ring off the roof. - Aquacolour clocked in at 8mins vs 20mins last year - ambience and general atmosphere just wasn’t there - and I think that is partially due to its location at SW not allowing for a parade, and the summer setting meaning it’s still light for more than half the event which doesn’t help with creating a Carnivale atmosphere. Whilst the always good buffet saved WC, there was no overall redeeming feature here. Would not pay for entry.

Thanks for the Shoutout, we definitely thought the thumbnail for Defunctland's video looked very similar to ours Such a shame to see the history of such a great local theme park for me to end up as just another industrial estate. If ran correctly Wonderland Sydney could have very well still been open and expanding today, but with Sunway's greed for a quick buck what little is left of the park is left slowly rotting away in a field forgotten by time and the people of Sydney.

The rail in some places is approx 100 year old as well. They are not doing trackwork, thats all I will say.

Wow, I never realised how much that photo makes it look like a lego model.

Actually they are replacing 20 year old track in some parts of its course.
