  1. *groan* Forget any hope or chance of modifying, or removing the big top.
  2. Gas? I thought it was mist?
  3. Don't act like you don't love it.
  4. Sorry to disappoint you but they're all natural baby!
  5. Yes, the real value here isn't the value of the plant and equipment for the ride, but the hopeful positive lift to reputation, which as we all know from RCT, is keenly important to the success of any park. this is why they need to remove their no entry signs from in front of the exit, and not launch tower of terror to fast so as to send the car off the end of the track.
  6. Thanks for the update Jobe! It sounds like a very sensible way forward for all, and outlines specific details which, once legislated, cannot be challenged by residents.
  7. The backward pass is a no brainer, and for $10 is a worthy inclusion. As they are timeslotted, what slots should they receive? last rides of the day? first? As others have mentioned, as the climb is outside of park hours, it would be difficult to include, especially since they potentially couldn't offer it to morning riders if they don't have park admission. The morning ticket would therefore have to cost less - either way one of those is devalued. Including a video may come at a cost. Firstly, as they've had to outlay to install the video system, and second, since the video is uploaded to a site host that doesn't appear to be controlled by VRL, they probably pay a percentage of each video uploaded to the host, so with each video, there would likely be a cost, and that would have to be factored in to their margins. A free game of top golf - pricing is 'per bay' not 'per person' - so one coaster climb potentially gives you a free game for 6 people? for an hour? worth at least $50? Nah. Maybe 20% off, but otherwise no. Also - not sure on the licensing arrangements but I assume TopGolf USA takes a cut of games played. There's also no guarantee that guests playing will order food and bev. The sipper cup\drink bottle is cheap, but do they get it filled? do they get free refills? what of the people who come in the afternoon to climb - how do they get refills? For all of these inclusions, the price needs to bump to ~$150 - and clearly we're not seeing great take-up at the $100 mark. What they need is to play off other experiences in the park - but given the current 'out of hours' nature of the experience, its difficult to cross-promote anything - it becomes too complex and confusing, which in turn drives potential customers out. I think as stated above, they just need to determine - 1. is the current price point popular enough to warrant keeping it as is, and 2. if it isn't, how far should they drop it to obtain more interest?
  8. Plus remember that none of these three are 'backyard manufactured' in house. All are built by reputable amusement manufacturers with specific guidelines and requirements. Although Arrow isn't around these days i'm fairly certain S&S Sansei would be able to provide any ongoing support required.
  9. I don't think I could handle the implant surgery.
  10. to be fair, given the location in the park, there's a lot of things they could do more easily without the hoardings in the way. Nighttime wouldn't be a bad time to do a lot of the big move stuff.
  11. Don't Hasbro run social media marketing to get people to vote for what should be where? Seems to be a lot of differing opinions - can anyone point to something concrete that confirms whether the spots are paid or no? Seems a bit shitty to me to make a fortune from all these places paying to be on the board, and then charging everyone who buys that edition of the game... (ETA: seems like a lot of these specialty versions are actually charity fundraisers...) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_licensed_and_localized_editions_of_Monopoly:_Oceania
  12. Yes, and there was apparently some major issues with the licensing terms and exactly how it was to be done - nothing to do with physical construction which went up very quickly once the apparent licensing stuff got sorted out. In this case, there's no licence - the film was created specifically for the park, and they've had months to work things out behind the scenes. Provided the machinery and control system functions as designed (and this isn't a one of a kind system so that shouldn't be difficult) all things should slot into place fairly easily.
  13. it will only be available at dreamworld, UNTIL they sign an agreement for another location.
  14. I think you've misunderstood. I wasn't representing anything about Quality. What I meant was that you'll find RMs from boardroom to Bourke. They are iconic. You don't have to own a horse to be familiar with the brand. Ringers is a much more niche market - horsey people use the product (probably because its cheaper than RMs, and owning a horse will send you broke so buying RMs isn't usually an option)
  15. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you exhibit A^ I think Surfrider, at the time it was installed, would have been a good fit for Sea World to replace the pirate ship. At this stage, with the park lacking on almost every front, installing Surfrider would be a mistake - management would consider that they had given SW sufficient attention to coast for a year or two, and do nothing else for the park. SurfRider's capacity is horrible, and without other, more prominent anchor attractions to spread the load, the 'new kid on the spit' would have massive lines and end up causing more negativity towards the park...
  16. Do you think so? How many Wooden coasters have there been on the gold coast? I'd suggest to you that most of those that know of wooden coasters would be from television shows such as step-by-step (SFMM Colossus) and similar, and many would think that woodies are old technology, replaced by steel, hence why we only have steel coasters in our GC market. Few would think woodies are somehow still 'today's' technology, and most would be confused if a park started to build one.
  17. Are you even reading posts before replying? Both of the 'options' shown in this thread allow for parking arrangements on or near the existing carpark.
  18. It's not odd at all - there are many examples of a franchise where the rights to TV series, movies, comics, merchandising, public performance etc were all held by different folks at different times. Just because a film studio made a movie about it, doesn't mean they can suddenly start producing merchandise, or theme park rides, unless they themselves owned the IP in its entirety. We have discussed this at length before, but put simply - think about this: We know that SDSC is themed to the film from 2003ish. This doesn't give them the right to use the earlier Hanna Barbera cartoons as they are licensed separately, or indeed the later movies released afterwards. We know that when Village Roadshow bought out Warner's share in the GC theme parks, the WB licensing was part of the deal - however unlike previously where WB was a shareholder, VRL needs to have an agreement to extend or expand. There is some conjecture, broadly, over where the theme park rights to harry potter sit, and whether Universal owns them entirely or whether JKR could licence other parks independent of the universal model. We don't really need to go into that, because of the point above... Despite the fact that the park is called Warner Bros Movie World, and despite the fact that WB produced the movies, as the park is owned by Village Roadshow. ...and given the juggernaught that is Harry Potter, at this monetised point in the Hogwarts game, VRL would be much better placed utilising existing licensing at no additional cost, than to acquire an entirely new licence, requiring an entirely new theme, that must adhere to very strict guidelines set down by JKR herself, to put essentially an overlay onto an existing more-than-a-decade-old attraction, at what would be a massive cost better spent on smaller more worthwhile investments.
  19. All they need is a series of small fountains placed throughout the river. this breaks the water surface, oxygenates it, and pushes any growth out to the edges. Seriously, the work experience kid could take $200 to bunnings and fix it permanently.
  20. ^And that's precisely why they aren't "doomed". In it's current iteration with it's current owner perhaps, but all signs - from Weiss to the new CEO suggest that Ardent is preparing for sale when the timing is right. With our dollar as it is right now, an international buyer would pick it up for a song... and hopefully that buyer is both theme park experienced, and has the cash to splash in our suppressed market.
  21. I welcome this news and talk of both the star flyer and a coaster. Whilst it's a bit early to board the hype train, we must remember that we've seen Sea World advertise attractions a few years out, and that turned out to be WILDly inaccurate... so backstage rumors, that don't even have a billboard in park are to be taken with such salt. I would like to see them build something akin to Incredicoaster \ California Screamin - the seaside pier 'woodie' look, but in a modern steel construction. Much as i'd like a woodie, we know what the maintenance requirements are, and I feel like a steel coaster, built to reside close to the sea is probably easier to protect than a woodie with our tropical weather. That's just opinion, i'm not stating fact, and i'm sure a park could make a woodie work on the gold coast - I'd just rather they didn't.
  22. Look, it was a partnership, not a sponsorship. Usually each benefits out of the deal. What we know: Ringers merchandise featured in the shops Ringers clothing worn by AOS staff (although I presume not all of them - probably just the cast) Ringers badging on the building, and other marketing placements. What we don't know: What AOS got out of the deal, other than clothing for their performers. Who paid what, and when.
