It was Mark's words that it was a grass bank.... so this is getting interesting... When you have a mechanical ride moving, with guests on board, you should always have an operator within arms length of the E-stop. That employee should never leave that position unless relieved by another staff member, or until they have themselves stopped the ride. No question, no excuses, ever.

Yes, Asian woman tried to get off, operator tried to stop her, instead of pressing the E-stop, both ended up falling, operator got a pretty badly damaged wrist... The guest had cracked ribs and broken shoulder. Good memory. My thinking was along the lines of what lead to it's closure - as this incident wasn't the cause - it was in fact a fallen tree (and hence my own confusion):

Although I feel that this, like most incidents is a result of the guest not following directions, once it was clear the woman wasn't following directions and had entered the danger zone (most of these rides have a painted stripe boundary near the edge to demarcate when the ride must be stopped), shouldn't the operator have E-stopped immediately?

He also said something was happening inside Eureka, whilst also saying nothing will happen with Eureka. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

general rule of thumb in customer service based industries. more people are likely to give a review or feedback if they had a bad experience, or had something to pick on. Far less people will give ratings \ feedback on good experiences, unless things that are extra special happen to them (or if they are avid reviewers). I'm sure that a small community attraction, that generates 10 good reviews and 0 bad ones is going to rank against a park that has 10 good reviews and 20,000 bad ones... even though it shouldn't.

depends... could be a really shitty refurbishment... or perhaps that was just to fund the cost of installing an extra 'Andrew-proof' upper door panel on the exit gate #expensivedoors.

You're still going to introduce debris if you use the raft conveyor - plus you'll need all sorts of additional guards and safety systems to allow the ground operator to halt the lift, retrieve the belongings etc. People just need to leave their shit at the bottom. Thats what happens in most parks. Of course - AW does have this problem, which whilst i'm sure isn't unique, is a lot rarer. They're working on fixes, but anything that necessitates people wearing something that is then sent down the hill using any of the slide infrastructure - its a bad idea.

...because that's the job of the slide? Plus a raft conveyor isn't built to take things down - the mechanic side of things are underneath too - there's no clearance - plus the bottom of it is underwater...

But who cares? All they had to do was just keep posting and not care about the date?

they do something like this for Wedgie at DW - they have a bunch of mesh bags they can send down... it is a slow process though as they won't let the next rider in until the bag has been received at the end. I could see this sort of thing happen where the rider is the next person down (easy to know whose is whose), but if you only sent it every 5 rides, potentially thats 20 pairs of footwear to sort through for the operator each time. Not to mention - people can have anything on their thongs (sand mostly) which would increase the amount of debris going into the pool and into the filter system.... it's a no from me.

I don't know much about your show Tim, but i'm not sold that it was what I was referring to.

All of the discussion to-date has been about a potential reopening in 2015. I just don't see that it is necessary for every tom, dick and Yoshi to start back-seat modding just because we've completed another revolution around the sun.

We don't yet know what the park has planned for these new precincts, and whether any of these parts will fit into or take over any show stage land... if they are to go for a new show stage show, I hope it isn't a corny childrens character song and dance, but rather a more upscale production - a stunt show, magic show or similar.
