Not sure if that's got any more info than the one Brad posted two weeks ago - but we knew council had voted it up a while ago...

Just remember the Australia tax. It costs more to ship here, and our construction workers also cost more. Our dollar is tanking right now too, so there is an abundance of factors that mean any price quoted for something like this in USD is potentially up to double in AUD.- 123 replies

That's a fair assumption to make by default. -

If we're going to criticise ride name\themes as being a bit sparse, we should start with all the existing ones that don't live up to their theme descriptors. Last time I rode Storm it was a bright and sunny day with barely a light breeze... -

In this day and age of urban sprawl and housing development, it's about as much of a koala habitat as you see in the real world.. -
This was posted earlier... Maybe they decided to keep it for another year???

I don't think you get what you're saying, so I doubt we will. The first shot I saw was a justice league billboard with the MW logo on it, and given you're suggesting the headliner won't have an IP, and you can't tell what it would be, i'm guessing Justice League has nothing to do with it, as that would be an IP, so all i'm left with is that the first shot just tells me this event is at Movie World.

Because the general nature of people showing fear, scare actors in full makeup pursuing them or looking creepy etc couldn't possibly form the basis of a 'general' advertisement advertising fright nights as a whole without tying to a specific maze, right? they wouldn't just advertise a multi-night event on it's own, right?

20? Try 30, Councillor.

What I found interesting is that Wild West is supposed to operate this year. We knew this was possible after the recent upgrades the attraction has had, but that will certainly be an interesting ride - I wonder if they're planning an 'overlay' of sorts?

September holidays normally suffers at MW just because much of their efforts are going towards fright nights, so this will be a nice simple addition that doesn't require much in the way of staging - it makes a lot of sense. I've been travelling for a while but I love live music. i'm coming home soon so 100% i'll be on my way to the park these holidays to check it out.

This checks out. The below plot is a rough shadow map of Batwing based on Nearmap shots. (North is up). The blue lines are taken at various times throughout the years but all are 10am or later in the day. The red line is the only one where the photo is taken prior - at approximately 8:30am Batwing is approximately 60 metres high. The new hotel is proposed to be approximately 80. If someone wants to dust of their pythagoras books and work it out precisely go for it, but i'm gonna do some back of the napkin math and say the longest shadow is 150% of the tower height - so our 80 metre hotel shouldn't cast more than a 120m shadow: I've guestimated the tower position but i'd say this is pretty spot on. In the early morning it might just kiss Road Runner, but the front entrance will still cop full sun. It's so perfect when you imagine the batwing lines replicated in the same fashion, it avoids almost every part of the "on-stage" park, i'm almost inclined to say this was their intention.

Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2024

Mt Druitt Waterworks long endured the rumors of razor blades in the slides and that was only an urban legend that also got said about Grundy's, Amazon's and most slide parks world wide. I don't think the Tram rhetoric is going to kill them - though it will obviously keep having an impact until there's enough reasons to overcome it (mostly financial i'm sure) -
I'm surprised nobody else got this up yet - GCB reported yesterday that council officers had recommended the hotel be approved by council. There was a summary of objections and details of the reasons why it should be approved. I can't get past the paywall but i'm sure somebody else can... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjm7qn8vsuAAxWOxDgGHeUlDYAQFnoECBQQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.goldcoastbulletin.com.au%2Fnews%2Fgold-coast%2Frevealed-city-set-to-approve-333-million-hotel-complex-at-movie-world%2Fnews-story%2F20360e3e6838ec1ee47e9682a2ec4d58&usg=AOvVaw2GtYE1ZfbOlkWZGMb6yzfM&opi=89978449

Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2024

It isn't the case. They can't run 'extreme' mode as the ride is not mechanically able to - this is why we've had all the downtime, and operating like this is what is supposed to relieve it It's not just raw development and construction - take away retheme and construction - and just look at the state of the parks. Dreamworld right now is a much more pleasant place to visit, IMO. -
Given the nature of the system, i'm sure it's entirely possible that it has happened. If it hasn't, i'm sure it is still possible. I haven't seen it or heard of it happening though.

It's a smart change to the terms and conditions - a lot of folk buy a pass on sale, but don't plan to visit until the holidays, so by not activating it they can make it work for two holidays. I just hope they make this part of the terms prominent enough when people buy or they're going to get a lot of pissed of people when they realise the offer has expired or been void.

I had thought about that - an ok to dispatch from the station, rather than the master console, but figured if it were an option it'd be in place (which it clearly is). Would there be any way to time it to start a certain number of seconds after the load gates close? I totally get the 'focus on safe ride' and it's good that the show elements have been designed so they don't require extra work from the ops team. thanks for answering my question. 👍 You can definitely get those at Jaycar, right? 😂 Did you get their bulk discount for buying multiples??? I was so busting with excitement waiting for this reply. thankyou for the afternoon giggle! -

Jesus christ you're a slow learner. Boy you better get back to class - you're about to be schooled... (who has the popcorn?) That's an accumulation tank for the brake run, if i'm not mistaken. -
If we're counting the fright night sheds, there's an area out the back around twice the size of West sandwiched between west and oz, backing onto the showstage. i've avoided studio shops, roads, and all the things out the back like watertanks and it still comes in over 10,000sqm, which is comparable with the size of Oz. Just because there's a building there, doesn't mean the space is untouchable, and for a park that is becoming increasingly 'landlocked' (not my words) they'd do well to be smarter about how they use their space. (it doesn't make sense to have a plot that large reserved for a seasonal 1 month long event if the park is sooo desperate for expansion space.)

I'm curious - i'm sure this is an issue the team behind these effects are aware of, and i'm sure they've explored every possibility for having it trigger early, so i'm sure i'm missing something - but it has me wondering - couldn't there be a separate 'manual' button to trigger this particular effect? Even if it were perhaps on a timer than only allowed it to run a certain time to prevent it being set off too early, or running too long? (I ask because the show elements on space probe weren't connected to the ride system. The operator would trigger the effects by a separate button to dispatch, which is part of the reason the TV countdown was never the same spot - the computer wasn't randomising it, it was just up to when the op triggered it (along with the patch job they did on the drive module that ran slower than the others, causing the timing to be off, but that's another story told too many times already) I had heard the CO2 effect on runaway railway was costing disney a butt-tonne of money - but if it's a specific duration per dispatch, surely some way to trigger it manually isn't out of the question? I'm just curious to understand why this isn't possible - as i'm sure they would if they could?
