  1. *the ball has entered Village Roadshow's court.
  2. This is the cleverest theming idea i've seen on the gold coast in years!
  3. No you didn't. That implied it should be held later. Holding a themed spooky event in a traditionally non-spooky season? sounds very-un-themepark-like.
  4. Nah not talkin about maccas. there's a little chain of places that makes 5 star food.
  5. I suppose you think they'd be better off postponing it until March?
  6. I had overlooked that part - my comments only referred to the shorter operating hours that were announced. You are right of course - remaining closed without a lockdown order (after screaming so loudly to "open the borders" earlier) is incredibly out of touch - and seems like perhaps they canned all their rosters with the expectation nothing would change this week. 5 stars is extraordinarily generous.
  7. Are we still going to that restaurant near yours?
  8. GoldCoaster was second hand, and until ST opens, it would have to be regarded as Dreamworld's flagship coaster right now... I don't think there's anything wrong with second hand if the ride is being removed for progress reasons rather than maintenance or issues. Given how Cedar announced the closure, it's safe to say the removal is for progress. WT probably has some life left in it, and would probably fit well into the old TOT footprint (pure guess), especially given the power requirements - but overall while it's probably got a solid decade left in it, I think the propulsion system is the biggest issue and its unlikely Dreamworld would want to take on another power beast. I'd love to see it, but agree its probably never going to happen.
  9. ...i smell a go fund me...
  10. Not really that interesting at all - to be honest, its a no brainer - as said, it's quiet. The other thing overlooked here is something anyone visiting on an offpeak weekday will know - after 3pm, you start seeing groups enter the park in school uniform - Mum and Dad have picked up the kids from the local state school and come to the park to spend an hour or two on rides. By closing at 3:30, they avoid these extra groups entering the park - and given the likely low-spend by these regular afternoon attendees, it really doesn't cost them anything by losing those groups, and it also reduces the potential for both entry of infection, and spread of that infection too... especially given how quickly delta spread through multiple schools to lead us to now.
  11. There were quite a few weddings, I know there's a post of two on the Wonderland History group although i'm not sure if its the ones you're after - https://www.facebook.com/groups/Wonderland.History/permalink/1900548266689267/
  12. They don't have anything as fun as a pretzel in Canberra.
  13. ^Other sporting events are also acceptable, but only if the head of the sport says you have to.
  14. Pretty certain that was included in the Ekka announcement the other day. Ekka - 2021 Ekka Cancelled
  15. You've got a lot of teeth for such a smartass Gaz. love your work!
  16. For an insight into 'as close as we ever got to a consensus' - see the following for a great in depth conversation about what a theme park might be...
  17. <insert quote about Disney executives in shock about how much it cost to build Bermuda> I see Sea World have sneakily rolled back the elaborate artworks they paraded about a few years ago into something more accurately resembling the expected finished product. (you know, if they hadn't put a cloud behind Trident, it would have made it easier to photoshop the fork out when they inevitably cut that themeing from the budget).
  18. So long as that mob in perth keep suggesting there's an actual theme park over there, Dreamworld will remain a 'theme park' even if only in the loosest sense of the word.
  19. They still need to provide wheelchair access to giant drop, so at least one ramp is required. Stairs also needed. They can certainly remove some of the elevated walkway, but not all of it, so there would still easily be something you could connect to if you were to flyover from the ST footprint.
  20. For sure. I'd completely ignored CalScreamin and was just imagining the arkham voice - you are of course correct - if it is done correctly, of course. If they chuck on Freestyler and call it a day i'll be livid.
  21. Given the proximity to observers though - doesn't that kind of ruin the effect? I guess i'm imagining the Arkham audio for the lift hill and wondering whether it would have the same impact if the observation area could hear it too?
  22. In my opinion, it's relevant, and its appropriately credited. This would meet any required fair use definition. News media routinely takes random people's social images and use them in stories where they're relevant and in context with appropriate credit given and this should be no different. Especially considering Parkz' position on commercial self promotion - He should be quite pleased his content is being shared to a potentially new audience. I don't follow this account, but i'll make sure I do now so I can include any relevant images in future parkz forum posts! Space Mountain (both old and new versions) absolutely bang. They're perfectly done and show how to do it right. Disney was doing this in the 90s. How are we here 25+ years later and still not getting it right? Sorry @Slick but onboard audio does well, it just has to be DONE well. I had a big long rebuttal planned out - but @MrLukeCarroll already said it for me: *i think you mean "cues" - and i thought Paris was the only space with live-mixed sync audio? Or did the other versions get the upgrade when they moved to the new soundtrack? If Paris isn't the only one, it was at the very least the first, but I was certain the USA versions (and hong kong) didn't have that extra feature (no clue about tokyo)
