  1. I have looked at this, but as the old adage goes, what goes up, must come down. The incline in the other direction would be from billabong, via tiger island, back to central station. As I undersand it, the grade is gentler than the new proposed route, but steeper than that of the Blue Lagoon loop. I'm no train buff, so i'm not sure whether it would work or not. I'm really hoping that they have actually brought in some rail professionals to advise them on the re-routing, that they've done the math on the grades involved so that they can continue to run the train. It'd be a significant loss to the park's kinetic energy if they go to all this trouble and find the train can't make it up. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
  2. On balance, yes - all of your examples are correct assessments. I'm not disagreeing with you. I even said I think our parks will take the DCR route, and so they should. What I meant was, it's sad we won't see our parks take that big leap again. Sure, DCR is an incredible coaster, but what i'm trying to say though is that TOT, despite its many flaws and limitations, is what really put Dreamworld on the map. Despite the carnage it wreaked on the park landscape, it was the dawn of a new era for Dreamworld, and something that symbolised the park for over a decade. Granted, they lacked anything else really to take over the title - Cyclone was a worthy addition to the park lineup but not anything special, and the blue fire clone will be a worthy successor to the flagship title at the park. My sadness comes from the knowledge that anything our parks get will, pound for pound, be a copy of something else already rideable overseas. that's all.
  3. I'll happily be up there to give you a push Dr. Dom!
  4. I mean, you could have the tubes out of the water on a large conveyor belt, and then.. Nah. Scratch that.
  5. Did someone say New Burger Rings? 😮 I totally get your logic, and it is sad, but unfortunately I think in today's world our local parks are more likely to go the 'rivals' route. Its a shame though really as having that true 'world first' unique item can really pay off IF it works - the problem is that that 'IF' is too big for our domestic parks to stomach.
  6. I stand corrected - PDonline had a 'view more' button i didn't see, and none of the applications are in date order. *Spinning Coaster - PC20/6584 - Submitted 30/06/2020, Approved 02/10/2020. Sunshine coast has a lot to improve on their PDonline system compared to Brisbane and GC councils.
  7. Well, now i have to set up alerts on Aussie World too. Nothing showing in the sunshine coast PD online yet. Could this be a temporary \ travelling ride?
  8. There is hope for @Zanstabar after all... I used to ride Space Probe repeatedly when I worked at Wonderland. If I wasn't doing a closing shift, i'd always get changed and head back into the park for a few cycles of Probe and Demon. The drop is still a rush, but I don't think i've ever felt any differently about it. Granted, GD is taller, but I suppose psychologically any thrill repeated enough can become normalised. Try Skydiving maybe?
  9. I think these things are great when you've got a fully fleshed out park with plenty of stuff to do and plenty of up-sells to point people to. To me though, this screams "$1,000 attraction because folks are whinging there's not enough open" in the same way plonking temporary carnival rides in park screams "we're desperately trying to make money".
  10. I mean - i know they made a whole lot of staff redundant... but even the work experience kid could come up with better than this.
  11. I know this is a bit weird, but the wind bracing is exciting. Like for sure - its on the spit, the sea breeze and storms off the coast - it needs the bracing - but it just makes it look so much more imposing.
  12. I do wonder, are they perhaps going easy to 'run it in' so to speak?
  13. Only if its the 2020 Edition...
  14. I mean - yes, they could be starting to construct the rollercoaster... -or- they're packing it back up because they've sold it elsewhere. Now, knowing Dreamworld as I do, I think it's safe to say that anything is possible.
  15. They're not mutually exclusive, and certainly there is overlap. In the past, 'must please enthusiasts' has meant 'biggest B&M you've ever seen and nothing else compares'. If its affordable, hits the target market well AND also pleases enthusiasts, great - my point was simply that if it hits the enthusiast criteria, without hitting the others, it isn't going to win out.
  16. They should hire them to be the new chief health officer. Clearly they know what's best for the health of the state.
  17. I keep telling you, you need to stop bringing books to fight club.
  18. Didn't they run colossus backwards for a while too?
  19. Could this have anything to do with the vitriol around the election?
  20. I think it'll be after the replacements for Marvin Rocket Pirate Ship Sea Viper Log Flume Mach 5 & Sidewinders The Whirlpool part of Whirlpool Springs ZipLine Aquadrop (aqualoops sad little brother) Calypso Beach theming
  21. You won't BELIEVE what happens next!
