  1. Oh Rob, its necessary to keep up here. Conversations devolve into whatever the most recent post talked about, and rarely does anything ever stay on topic long. the total cost of storm involved a lot of ground works and demolition. the actual ride cost was only a fraction of the total build cost.
  2. they give them all the time to trainers and overseas even people who pay for the privilege get them too!
  3. Sh*t. Not as stupid as IT SOUNDS. Honestly it wasn't intentional.
  4. Well, Movie World has neighbours behind it that complain about noise, and Dreamworld has Animals that are potentially sensitive to loud thrill rides - Sure, there are ways to get around that, but when its easier to plonk something in the carpark, or right on top of every other ride you already have, why would you bother?
  5. If you entered the park with your pass.
  6. Makes about as much sense as doing the same thing to MDMC. And I hate MDMC. But you're not talking sense man!
  7. get out of my head! https://rct.fandom.com/wiki/Spiral_Slide
  8. I actually did think that, but if its replacing HWSW, OP would need something added...
  9. ...in the most recent mention, it was better than the alternative of sporting fields.
  10. You mean like they do on SkyVoyager? at the back of the park provides views of the sporting fields directly behind it. At least at the front you have park on one side, and spot the car on the other.
  11. And let's not forget there was a few months there where the park was closed...
  12. Did VistaPrint give them 200 free business cards along with it? Its a nice touch, but honestly, its a band-aid solution for a park that is severely curtailing all of its 'nice touches'.
  13. Great idea! People - Dreamworld's highest point is right by the front gate. Everything else in the park is significantly lower than that. I do like the fairy shop idea - depending on what they do with the ex-goldrush land. Everyone keeps talking about how a wheel wouldn't fit, and there's nothing to look at. A 60-ish metre wheel near the front gate would have views to logan in the north, scenic rim to the west, gold coast and tweed to the south. Yawn right? except - that is the tribal lands of the Yugambeh people. Modern wheels have audio and visual entertainment systems, air conditioning, and lighting. It's not a far stretch to partner up with the Yugambeh elders to tell a story of their lands that could be built into the onboard system, and make the wheel more than just a 5 minute circle in the sky. It'd also assist financing the purchase of the ride, as it would fit the criteria of some government grant opportunities, just as corroborree did, and make Dreamworld THE park to visit for foreign visitors wanting to immerse themselves in something uniquely Australian. Plus, it's airconditioned - a rarity in the park.
  14. If it completely hid the condemned structure behind it, sure. the fact that the garish thatched roof sticks out from above like a sore thumb (and will no doubt remain in the uncropped original photo or video) just ruins it. but i hear what you're saying
  15. This is just it though - if you aren't going to the park, this isn't bothering you.
  16. Might as well. It's not like they have a train. You can't see the Murrisippi from the front gate. Even with ToT infrastructure gone, you're still just looking at MDMC \ MDMC Giftshop. I'm sure you're joking about putting it on top of the train station, but you'd have to if you wanted views of the carpark (almost). Nearmap's land heights put the Murrisippi around 4-7 metres A.S.L, and the front gate up around 27 metres A.S.L. The train tracks are between 7-9 metres A.S.L, so the hub of the wheel will only just be higher than the front gate facade. It's not going to be the impressive skyline you're looking for, and you're only going to spot your car if you're parked in the bottom end of the carpark.
  17. You could reduce your staffing levels by 1 person a day if you did...
  18. ..and which park is it we're talking about cost cutting, and not caring about guest experience?
  19. Its a bit sad that one of the final bits of 'non ride' theming has been left to rot to a point where its better to hide it behind a wall? - that thatching isn't hard to maintain if you stay on it.... but what irritates me more is that you can see the concrete wear and tear from where the park bench sat (which seems to be missing in the above photo) - a metre to the left of the flowerpot. That concrete is approaching 30 years old, and the exposed aggregate shows it. Even in this fairly recent (JDS) streetview photo from google, the thatch looks old, but it doesn't look horrible. they could have saved that (although I have no idea what they use that building for)
  20. the hoarded fence would be to protect the ride\park envelope, as the park fencing may be opened \ removed in order to permit lift equipment to access the ride envelope. Then as JWorld mentioned, the 'bike rack' fencing placed outside of that establishes a pedestrian walkway. Not as stupid as you sound, once its explained, is it?
  21. Any theories on why this changed? Can somebody help? I can't seem to find the nightvision setting on the forums?
  22. its a bad look. it is cost cutting. But so long as they are separately ticketed parks, with separate gates, and not an 'all in one' such as the experiment they tried previously, the need for tickets to be checked on entry is required. The mere fact that the parks share a fenceline (and have a gate) makes it convenient to park hop, but` not required. Wonderland used to have an 'in park' gate between the park and the wildlife park, both in HBL and at Lakeside next to the dodgems. Both of these were subsequently closed, with all entrances into the 'second gate' made by going out the main park gates, and then going back into the 'other' park by scanning your entry ticket. (the gates were a little closer to each other though)... So this isn't a new concept. Park Hopping from Disneyland to California adventure, requiring the scanning of your park ticket is a requirement, and nobody is whinging about that... TL:DR - Yes, they share a border. But two separately ticketed gates aren't REQUIRED to have a go-between gate, and if it costs them more money to have staff sitting there all day (especially in off peak, and on cold, rainy days), than it does in guest goodwill and complaints, and they're prepared to weather those complaints - then who cares? (And if the answer to that rhetorical question is that "you care" - then complain, next time you're at Guest Services - if enough of you do, then i'm sure a receptive management who actually care what their customers think about them will be only too happy to consider changing this policy.)
  23. Its poor form, yes, but nobody's safety is being impacted by this - so its hardly on any comparable level.
  24. I thought it was storm that had a new queue. Has JR's queue been changed too? to where?
  25. Oh I wasn't suggesting 'no impact' on the area, I just said in my opinion that it would be a positive one.
