This however is my favourite part: Was your business a multi-million dollar theme park struggling to recover from an in-park tragedy that has eroded consumer confidence in your safety and operations, coupled with a challenging competitive market environment; and limited financial resources to utilise to slow and or stop the decay in visitor numbers? Disney World: Mickey Mouse, ‘Toy Story,’ ‘Guardians,’ and More Score Attractions The D23 Expo wasn’t just about Disney’s slate of animated and live-action adventures this year, because we got some real world updates from the House of Mouse as well. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has confirmed that Mickey Mouse’s very own ride will soon be coming to Disney World in Orlando, Fla. Following the onstage presentations of “Wreck-It Ralph 2,” “A Wrinkle in Time,” “Aladdin,” and many others this weekend, Disney Parks chairman Bob Chapek took to the stage to confirm the “first ever ride-through attraction built entirely around Mickey Mouse” on Saturday. Apparently, the ride will be similar to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “It’s a Small World” attractions in that it’s a tour — à la Steamboat Willie — only Mickey’s ride will be in “2.5-D” (No 3-D glasses required). Instead of Mickey operating a boat, Goofy will actually be the one steering a train in this modern reimagining of classic Disney cartoon shorts. Chapek also shared that there will be more hidden Mickeys on this new Mickey Mouse tour than any attraction before it. Other updates included a new “Ratatouille” ride set for construction next to the Eiffel Tower in Epcot, naturally, as well as another “Guardians of the Galaxy” attraction in the same park. Magic Kingdom will welcome a “Tron” ride immediately next door to Space Mountain, with hopes of opening in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary — Oct. 1, 2021. Toy Story Land has also been announced for summer 2018, which will coincide with Paradise Pier being rebranded as Pixar Pier. A new theater and space-themed restaurant are also in the works for the Florida park. Seems Wanda is (largely) getting out of the theme park business... Wanda strikes $9.3bn deal to sell theme parks, hotels 10 July, 2017 | By Tom Grater Chinese giant in apparent step-back from leisure and tourism drive. Chinese media and property goliath Dalian Wanda Group has struck a $9.3bn deal to sell a portion of its leisure and tourism projects to real-estate developer Sunac China. The deal includes three Chinese theme parks owned by Wanda, which were intended to compete with Disney’s similar ventures in China (including Shanghai Disneyland, which opened in summer 2016 and has since welcomed more than 10 million guests). Last year, Wanda owner Wang Jianlin claimed that his “wolf pack” of theme parks would better Disney’s efforts. In total, Wanda is selling 91% of 13 tourism projects to Sunac, which will take over the project’s loans and financing, while Wanda will continue to design, build and manage the resorts under its own brand name. According to Reuters, the sale is the second-biggest real estate deal ever in China, and will help Wanda’s efforts to reduce its debt. The deal is thought to be a part of the company’s attempts to get its property wing listed on the stock exchange in mainland China, following its decision to delist from Hong Kong in 2016. Wanda’s first theme park venture opened in May 2016, with a focus on promoting Chinese culture rather than imports. “This craze for Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck is over, the period when we would blindly follow where Disney led has been gone for years,” Wang Jianlin commented at the time. The deal with Sunac represents a significant pull back for Wanda, which had claimed it would open up to 15 theme parks in China by 2020. The agreement is expected to be finalised later this month. CHANGE IN FOCUS According to analysts at Bloomberg, the deal could see Wanda re-up its focus on its entertainment empire, which has seen the company complete big deals for US theatre chain AMC (which also owns Odeon Cinemas) and The Dark Knight producer Legendary Entertainment. The agreement with Sunac will also include “comprehensive strategic cooperation in extensive areas including movie [sic],” according to a statement on Wanda’s website. However, the company’s foreign exploits have not all run smoothly, with a proposed $1bn acquisition of Golden Globes show producer Dick Clark Productions hitting the rocks in March this year, reportedly due to Chinese regulatory restrictions as well as second thoughts over the hefty price tag.

Well funny you should mention it, as someone who was in that mosh of people with my son (a parkz cap for anyone who finds me in the photo), I can attest that neither The Claw or Shockwave operated during the performance

That's very strange given private schools all went on holidays a week prior to the state school kids so are now in their third week of holidays

I will give kudos when it's deserved, I contacted Dreamworld to air my frustration at the situation and they rectified it immediately. Apparently the $74 passes were a last minute decision.

Season pass

Great offering for families and kids. i will say I think it's a bit stiff that they email all the passholders than expired at the end of June with an exclusive offer of $89 kids and $109 adult tickets. Then a few days after the expiry for that deal, they make $74 season paases available to everyone.

Power outage is just a more specific version of "technical difficulty". I don't see why hearing "technical difficulty" as opposed to "power outage" would lead to people spazzing out, as you put it...

I've driven past at about 5:45pm each night since it started. Tonight (Monday) was definitely the busiest, but also had a lot more 'smoke' emanating out of the park. Not sure if they ramped up the effects??

Looking at those plans, it's definitely a replacement for at least the internal part of COTD. I think it would be a great addition, the jellyfish exhibit at Sunshine Coast Sealife is amazing, hope SW pull off something similar

You've lost the plot... having a bad week?? It was closed, and they were working on it. That is maintenance. I don't really understand why you've targeted me given the complete dribble posted by some on these pages, with multiple posters uploading the same photo's and content regularly. I don't post here anywhere near as often as most, and I'm certainly not chasing up votes. I know plenty of locals who will change their minds on their afternoon park plans based on what rides are open. I thought my post would be of use to such people. if My post didn't interest you, maybe you could have ignored it, as i do when it happens.
