  1. Is WWF open during Fright Nights? All rides close at 9 and then just mazes/club blood etc open from 9-11 is this correct??
  2. Longest - probably a tie between TOT when it first opened and Snowy River Ramage at Wonderland on a hot ass day. Both about 90mins Shortest - pretty much everything on a weekday (except school holidays) went to DW about 4wks ago and got on TOT2, Claw x 2, Shockwave in about 45mins
  3. Definitely looks less steep - no matter which way you look at it IMO Anyone been on it since the refurb who can confirm? MASSIVE FAIL if it has been changed
  4. Anyone go last night? Would be good to get a bit of a review
  5. Naaa didn't you hear that as of December only groups of 3 or more will be allowed in the park??? It's part of their grand plan to increase visitation
  6. Really hard to split DW and MW In the end I went with DW only due to number of rides/attractions that make it a complete full day experience. If MW added 2-3 top line attractions as replacements for LTRR and BA2 then I think it would well surpass DW but there current strategy of ride replacement rather than additions unfortunately makes it less attractive. If I had $70 to my name and could only attend one park - I'd choose DW as I would get more for my money. Thankfully I have a VIP and World Pass so get the benefits of both.
  7. Your comments above and also in the Tiger Island thread are showing you must have trouble processing information. The parks could afford to spend $16-$18 million dollars on a single ride 10 years ago because everyone stepping through the doors was paying $70 a visit, or an annual pass set you back $300!! Now 70% of the people walking through the doors are paying less than $100 a year for the privaledge. Then there was also that little thing called the Global Financial Crisis - heard of it?? Australia may have got off lightly, but the parents companies, shareholders, manufacturers and suppliers are largely based overseas - many of those in countries whose economies plummeted - if you dont think this has an impact on spending your crazy. You're post was flawed from the first 10 words when you related 'high prices' to entry into Australian theme parks. The issue is that there are too many CHEAP annual tickets. Get rid of VIP passes and go back to $250-$300 per person for an annual pass, none of this buy 3 get 1 free crap, and we'd be halfway there. Until then, be happy that we are getting any new offerings at all.
  8. You clearly have no knowledge of the plight of tigers in the wild. If not for organizations with conservation and breeding programs like DW then tigers would become extinct in no time. It's sad but reality that in 50-60 years is it extremely likely that there will be no tigers left in the world. DW does an amazing job in raising much needed funds for research and conservation efforts oversees that try to extend that short amount of time tigers have left in the wild.
  9. Well i'd say that a standard El Loco but bigger in size = a larger model of the El Loco So you are both correct??
  10. WTF??? Really??!!?? That doesnt sound right at all! I have been to TI 100s of times and never seen that occur. Surely that would fall under animal cruelty guidelines...
  11. Disney films flopped?? Mate Toy Story 3 made $1.2 billion!!! 3rd most profitable movie made of all time
  12. So come mid october- we will have 3 flagship rides in LTRR, Batman Adventure & Bermuda Triangle on no replacements opened Doesn't seem like good business Practice. Even looking forward to Dec, 2 rides closed for 1 opening isn't really great. Especially seeming the 2 closing are 'tame' rides that families could all go on I'm all for thrills, I haven't been on batman adventure in a few years and apart for a last run on LTRR before it closed for memories sake I hadn't been on that for years either. But families no doubt make up a massive component of visitors. The only family friendly rides now at MW all have some level of 'thrill' associated in roadrunner, scooby and WWF. I hope the closure points to a second offering come Xmas, whether than be in the LTRR building or Wayne Manor
  13. would find it impossible for MW to build a new ride without DW knowing about it In the end they are the 2 major players, and really the only 2 players in what is a very small niche market in Australia. They would have the same or similar suppliers, industry contacts and no doubt staff move from one company to the other at times. It would be seemingly impossible for a new ride to be developed in secret - especially when you take into account DA/Building approvals etc etc
  14. anything is better than sitting thru Shrek again! It ran for what, 5 years?? They'd be better served changing it up every 1-2yrs
  15. Like most people, i think there is definitely a balance that needs to be achieved, but it again depends on what you want to achieve with the ride and what the ride is Superman Escape for me is perfectly themed. I couldn't really think of anything they could add to the experience to make it better, theme wise (aside from maybe having the cop car and the taxi literally fall into the hole as you are going past with a smoke/fire element). Thrill wise, it is really second to none on the coast. Batwing Space shot has nothing, but i dont mind it that way, as it is surrounded by rides that are well themed, so a standard run of the mill thrill ride fits in well. Bermuda and WWF (When both at 100%) absolutely were World Class. Will we ever see another ride as intricate ?? I doubt it, but providing there is at least some effort to theme, thrill takes precedent (eg. Buzzsaw) I'd say 75% thrill, 25% theme would be how i would rank importance
  16. Left yesterday after waiting 2hrs as only went to DW to go on BuzzSaw. Just gone in now for a ride, closed again for testing til an unspecified time. Lots more disappointed people out the front of the ride like me, saying they came down just for the ride. Attendants saying the manufacturer has not signed over the ride to the park yet. Surely they could have this sorted prior to the launch date????
  17. So do the tests prior to opening. It was running at screamworld last night!
  18. It's been advertised as Opening today for 4 weeks on Tv, Radio and press. Sea FM is even broadcasting out the front telling people it's opened today and come down.
  19. At DW, ride attendants telling ppl the ride is not open as it needs testing and should open later this afternoon after 12. ....BUT.... The ride is cycling with people on it and has been all morning. It seems DW staff and friends/family are allowed thru to ride but general pubic being sent away. Absolutely poor Job DW. A lot of disappointed ppl here. Do they think we are stupid saying it's Closed for Testing when we can see it cycling with people on it??!!
  20. There's your proof jjuttp. Bit hard to take a photo with an iPhone at night or a dark ride whilst driving past at 100km an hour
  21. Just drove past, ride is up and running at Screamworld tonight. Obviously brought the launch forward
  22. Any other day this week and my partner and I would have been there. Unfortunately have a work conference til 5:30 Hope it's a great event and we can make it to the next one
  23. i can see the frustration from Tracey's perspective, but at the end of the day Safety is 100% paramount at all times, especially in the leisure industry where safety standards are monitored closely and accidents and/or mortality leave a lasting negative public perseption, regardless of cause or fault, which result in decreased visitation. I think Cameron did the absolute most he could in refunding 50% of the VIP pass price and explaining the legality and regulations that apply since the incident in the US. The disappointing thing for me is that despite Cameron's and MW's best efforts, Ms Barrell has made the decision to run to the media and cause an uproar that did not need to happen. She has purposefully done this to tarnish MW/WVTP reputation and tried to paint them with the discrimination brush - which certainly isnt just or fair given what has occurred. To be honest i think in doing show she has shown herself to be of poor character and morals. I feel for her circumstances, but being a paralypian, a priest or a president doesnt allow you to bypass the safety systems that are created to keep you safe and the leisure operater in business!
  24. Whilst you may be 100% correct re: it being Green Lantern and creating a Justice League area in the park, there is absolutely no way in the conceivable world that the cinematic release of Green Lantern in Australia was delayed in order to have the DVD release timed to the opening of the ride. That is about as far fetched an idea as i've ever heard.
  25. On a busy weekend or school holidays there is some merit to getting them, but if you are going on a weekday (non school holiday) you are just wasting money. I went on Friday last week and apart from about a 20min wait on TOT2 i didnt wait longer than 5 mins for any ride. Dreamworld isnt THAT big that you cant get everything seen/done in a regular day.
