They were allowing re-rides on ST two weeks ago when I was there. Even if there were people in the line for your gate, if there was other vacant seats you could just shuffle around

Let’s be frank here, no one is going to be surprised if these rides don’t open until the Christmas holidays. it’s a joke, but it’s a reality that seems more and more likely.

WinterFest is back (as expected) 25th June to 17th July all activities/experiences appear identical to last year with the exception of being able to hire a igloo so you are guaranteed somewhere to sit and eat… Should add that there at this point is no announcement about any extended trade nights, which did occur a couple of times last WinterFest. This also appears to be new.

Well credit where it’s due, that’s great to see (whether it was due to someone seeing it here or elsewhere)

I knew this would be raised. I remember it fondly waiting for the 11am rope drop in that wooden “tunnel”. The difference there was you had other high profile rides open - you could ride Demon, Space Probe, Bounty etc. If some or even one of the other coasters in the park was open, then maybe I wouldn’t view it as such an issue, but coasters are a parks bread and butter, to have none operation - and it be planned to be that way - I don’t think is good enough. If you plan for one or two to be open and by chance have breakdowns etc, that’s another thing.

If that’s the case then reference it. Don’t make it look like you’ve just reduced hours as a cost cutting measure. Say “due to works on the DW Tower, ST will temporarily be open from 12-4 weekdays”. it’s still ridiculous planning however to have every coaster closed during certain hours of the day - especially when it’s planned and not unexpected maintenance

So you think it’s ok that the park has ZERO operating rollercoasters between open and midday, and again from 4pm, on top of a variety of other kids rides down? Yeah that doesn’t fly with me. Not for a new signature attraction, it should be open every moment possible. It creates atmosphere, is viewable from the front of park, and it is bringing people in specifically to ride it.

In other news I just popped down and got my first ever ride on ST. Loved it. Was in a bit of a rush so couldn’t be patient with waiting for specific rows but got a ride in row 4 and row 3. loved the backwards launch, much more punchier then I expected. Loved the sharpness of some of the corners and that final roll really whips you. It’s by far the best thing DW has ever offered, and certainly sits comfortably in the top 3 rides on the GC.

Goodluck to whoever takes it. If the park can get $1m for it then I guess it’s better than it being scrapped altogether. I wouldn’t think it would be an Aussie destination, probably show up in India or a smaller Asian country

How uninspiring… you’re probably right though. why even reference the colour? Most people have eyes so can tell it’s green. Just go python. Or be smart asses and call it Steel Python…

Why leave that section yellow? Looks horrible, especially with a gimmicky coin-op toy machine. paint it white and out a themed mural there or something

They’ll probably let you walk up the stairs and take a photo in it for nostalgia purposes…. And call it an attraction.

Plus additional security, first aid staff, maintenance staff, ops managers etc etc. Operationally and logistically it’s not that simple. The park is being used as a location of a market, for all intents and purposes, it’s not a theme park for those hours as the park isn’t operating as one.

I’m keen to check it out. I think spring would have been a better launch window with the warmer weather.

Ariala is also at Springwood now, haven't tried it yet but have heard good things. I love buffets - but there certainly are not many good ones around these days. The Star GC one used to be quite good, but i havent tried it out since it re-branded a couple of years ago. I used to regularly eat at Ricks when at MW and also at Billabong at DW - hope they do return one day - and given its popularity with the asian tour operators, i'd like to thing Billabong will with the return to normal of international tourism in the next 12 months

Knowing the over-zealous safety culture - would not be surprised to see the movement mechanic removed, and the characters being stationary as the carousel spins…

No RF cards on the interactive elements in the supervillains area, and also appeared to be none for sale. In lieu of this they have decided to let Killer Crocs’ water feature just run constantly, which is cool, except the drainage wasn’t build for that, so it just floods the entire pathway (and also seems a decent waste of water….) Gees…. Just went on JL. Time to just gut that place and start again… I’d say at least 50% of the targets don’t work/register, or the 50% that do, half of those don’t go dark after hitting. 2 from 5 of the projection screens do not work at all (but audio plays for the scene you cannot see), the fog curtain doesn’t work, the doors are stuck open so the effect of the portals are useless, and half the animatronics are dead/frozen. 1/10. Do better Movieworld.

The carousel has been stripped back - all the characters removed accept for one lone Wile.E.Coyote who has a “Deformation Tag” on it - so assuming that may be the one the “kid” fell off. All the ceiling has also been removed, again accept for the section above the remaining character

This seems as relevant a topic to post this as anywhere else DW has re-instated the buy 3 get 1 free locals annual pass promo. Only valid on the $129 pass that includes WWW and night events. Always popular and will no doubt give them a bit of an influx with people waiting until this time of the year to buy/renew. Family of 4 locals passes to DW will now set you back $387 compared to $756 for the village parks. That's a BIG difference and considering the current state of MW, would make it very hard for people to justify a near doubling of the price.
