  1. Steel Taipan began testing mid-to-late October and theming wasn’t near complete yet. Still plenty of time edit: it was September, my bad. However, it was reported staff first rode it early November… so still time
  2. I think this WAS the endgame post-2016 and mid-COVID, when financial recovery seemed out of the picture. But given the shift that DW has seen with ticket sales & revenue, Gary can see the potential. If it truly were Coast’s endgame to set up DW & WWW for sale, we would never see the level of thought, care and theming going into the new rides or themed areas like K&B’s dreamland… nor would we see investment in things like hold virtually no capital value (namely Twighlight Trail, that Bilby area, Parents Centre, etc). Instead, Coast would bolster up their books with new rides and virtually zero theming… JR would be just some coaster plonked onto land with the nice entrance sign, and more closed off areas with little attention (like Twilight Trail).
  3. I was thinking it would be more IMO. Given the industry fanfare, Greg flying over there, a pretty lengthy & secret lead up, I was expecting some game changer announcement of a brand new ride (or rides) with features no one has ever seen yet… Some ride announcement where Intamin can show in front of all their competitors at the expo “hold my beer and check this insane sh!t the we can do” That’s not to say I’m not grateful or looking forward to KC… I must’ve just had too high of hopes originally…
  4. They’re only pushing KC as it’s HOT news now and JR/RT aren’t in a complete enough state to promote fully yet. I guarantee in the lead up to summer (and an opening date is confirmed internally) they will market the sh!t out of JR/RT opening and you’ll see it everywhere, especially if you’re a GC local
  5. The southern hemisphere’s biggest announcement tease flop (this year)
  6. They’ll be aiming for 15 December. Obviously there are too many variables for that date atm, particularly registration and commissioning.
  7. Putting all this AI bickering aside, is anyone else absolutely f*cking PUMPED for Rivertown (and Wizard Of Oz) for setting a new standard for theming?! This is what we’ve been crying out for all along and it’s starting to look like they’re delivering on their promises. Surely this will be the new minimum standard on the GC moving forward… can’t wait to see what comes next from all parks in future developments
  8. Hmmm… this sounds an awful like what a Bikash burner account would say.🧐 Sorry, but no. A senior leader does not have any right to mention DW or 2016 in the way he did. Totally unprofessional. He’s not just a ride operator or in middle management that’s passionate about his workplace and having a rant; he’s a senior leader (both in the company and in the industry) and therefore needs to compose himself and express his views accordingly. By all means, put the media in their place for their shitty reporting, lying and exaggerations, and stick up for your staff and the efforts they (and the entire industry for that matter) have gone in terms of excelling safety standards, but don’t do it that way.
  9. Train reveal… https://youtu.be/juk7sMguEU4?feature=shared
  10. Whilst it’s true staff would take the occasional browse through Parkz, I probably wouldn’t get too hung up on taking the credit… There would be a hell of a lot of other changes across the parks we’d see if they took all this drab as gospel.
  11. Why are you all so hung up on 2 image examples probably the most junior person in the office decided to publish on the VERY outdated website? Just because there are 2 images that look to be AI generated doesn’t mean the entire project is done by AI. Any sensible person would know they’ve used those images (whether AI or not) as part of the creative journey, to add to moodboards, help in brainstorming, etc. You’re also forgetting these images… it’s not all AI
  12. They’re also renovating the facade of other buildings down Main Street. Didn’t get pics, but the facades next to the surf shop, opposite the Claw and currently behind a showbags truck are all fenced off and being renovated.
  13. Why not do it then 🤷🏻‍♂️… https://www.accc.gov.au/about-us/contact-us/report-a-consumer-issue
  14. Don’t speak too soon, technically they still have 2 hours 53 mins left to open in April…
  15. I get what they’re trying to do… but the execution is just poor and coming across as cringe. Also, stick to the one channel. They don’t need to cross-post the same content across every channel they have. People will stumble across a single post of this “funny narrative” they’re trying to do, and they’ll think they’ve lost their minds. The marketing team is completely different to 2 years ago, obviously not improved.
  16. Shade and decent fans > misters Steel Taipan nails it every time on an effing hot humid day without the need for misters
  17. Yeah… disappointing. Appears to be no external vendors and only a slight variation to their normal offerings. I guess this is why they’ve dropped the “street” and only refer to it as “food festival”. There originally was high hopes of this event soon to be on par with Disney or Seven Seas… not any more. I think it’s time to drop the event altogether, back to the drawing board for something new.
  18. 100% this. I also went on Saturday. I feel like it was less than previous years, there certainly hasn’t been any effort in growing or improving the event. Only positive of the night was the aqua light show, other than that it was all just a bit… meh. Won’t be rushing to return next year
  19. What time did you go? Might be due to Night Market set up or just a buzzare one off. Each time I’ve gone they have the nostalgic/classic/big band music around Main Street and it only becomes pop music once you hit Ocean Parade
