Some more photos (Credit to gcthemeparkgirl) Looks like those might be the electrical boxes from below motocoasters launch, when all the hydraulic cabling was removed. Not sure, I thought they could also be the panels to raise and lower the back clamp of the ride however I thought they were vertical and stainless steel. This could be pointing towards a electric drive conversion of the launch, which should reduce operating costs

Some points are quite valid and concerning, as well as straight up attacking the park However this is the first I'm hearing of 'Dreamworld allowed to spend $2.7million of tax payers money that was meant for koala research to instead build a roller coaster'. Once again quite concerning when part of their business is animal and wildlife conservation. Getting some mixed messages here

Maybe the Substation that was installed when the coaster was built, and how they had to thread it around the already existing TOT utilities. I received an email last week with a renewal offer and it mentioned the following 'one free entry to 3 After Dark Events**' **Village Roadshow Premium Annual Passholders can each redeem one (1) free of charge Event general admission ticket however redemption is subject to ticket availability as Event numbers are limited. This MUST be pre-booked. I would fall into this category if this was the case. Time will tell

Hours have been updated again for Movie World Someone forgot to add full operating hours for the school holidays. My biggest issue with the reduction in operating hours is that it doesn't go back to normal hours on Fridays/Weekend like Dreamworld. Also the way Movie World handles queues at closing is poor, Dreamworld is more lenient when it comes to this however it's probably due to lower visitation some days. Not good for the consumer. My annual pass has dropped 21% in value now, paying more for less.

Both Movie World and Sea World have reduced operating hours during the next off peak season Movie World: Sea World: Interesting... At least tickets are only $99 for those days.

As crazy as this might sound it wasn't a terrible day. Wednesday wasn't bad at all. Not sure if we got lucky but waits were reasonable, queues actually moving, and attractions were staffed properly, something that Dreamworld still doesn't quite get right. It was off peak and the park had a good atmosphere and nothing I can really fault them for. As I said I'm just as surprised as everyone is probably reading this. We actually had a good day. I read that you were at the parks this week, what days and how did you find it?

Dreamworld express is also conveniently down, could be to facilitate access into the show building.

Indeed, it was scheduled to reopen on Friday. Still says it'll be open by then, I assume they'll try to winch it up to the mid course, but not sure how long that would take. They'd have some experience with this as I think it vallied in the same spot last september closure. Today was the first time I'd visited the park in months and honestly I was pleasantly surprised. Seems like they're slowly starting to turn things around. Hope I haven't spoken too preemptively.

Hopefully they can scrape up a bit of money to at least paint it. Rivals wasn't but I don't really think it needs to be. When Storm Coaster got the exact same treatment they installed it already painted blue.

I'm really confused as to what this is and why it's needed. I still think its to do with fall protection but seems to be bigger than what we first thought. On the first image you can see steel sticking off the fence that has been cut. This used to connect to a similar but smaller piece of steel that ran down the lift hill housing the lift hill speakers, lighting and cable to clip onto when your being evacuated off the ride/walking down the lift hill. The lighting and speakers have now been removed and I presume they will be mounted onto the new structure. However the fall wire is still intact. As I had said earlier, similar happened to DC Rivals on its last closure (last year) but it was just the fall system being moved.

Could be adding nets under the lift hill to catch loose articles due to proximity over queue or another super expensive fall protection system like what was added to rivals final break run on its last closure (and storm coaster a few years back) I'm leaning more towards it not being structural as its using split clamp collars and there seem to be some more mounting points for something on the right side. I hope they at least paint it, it really stands out.

My bad everyone, that was me. My Dreamworld Deflection Syndrome (DDS) took over again, had to warn people about the park. Thankyou @New display name for the diagnosis. I'd say someone's been laid off, or its just an angry neighbour of the park and relatively harmless.

Sure, I'll end it at this. You said “scarily similar / eerie situation” and in a later post highlighted specific similarities between the two attractions. That naturally leads people to draw a comparison (as other uses have made posts), which in fact you did yourself based of inferences other people made to TRR! To some extent this was a bit ludicrous however, when these events are brought up in the media it is usually fear mongering and you've attempted to achieve a similar result here. Also I thought we were showing off how many adverbs we could use in each sentence, must've misread the room. I don’t need a dictionary, I never said similar means the same. My point is about how your wording comes across and how it reads to others. If you genuinely didn't mean to imply then this has been a misunderstanding however it took 3 people (including myself) and probably a couple of lurkers also thought the same.

Just so we are all on the same page, you said, 'In a scarily similar / eerie situation'. The ride has a scarily similar name to Thunder River Rapids. You didn't explicitly state it but you were maliciously implying it. I feel most people that have read this understand that you were clearly trying to link the two events together due to similarities in name and the fact you clearly highlighted it, that is just how its read. If that wasn’t your intention, then you've worded it wrong, not everyone else misreading it. There’s really no other logical way to read it given the wording and associated connection you established.

I feel there's enough of an implication there.

I remember hearing that the parks usually avoids doing major ride work when it’s visible to guests during operating hours. Now that the ride is 'permanently closed' it must be an appropriate time to start doing the work you mentioned as before park hours and after park hours are more expensive and to the regular folk it looks like something new and exciting is coming there.
