  1. Movie World (MW) are exposed to impactful long-term licensing arrangements such as, intellectual property fees associated with the use for characters like Batman, Superman, Scooby Doo and so forth. Fees not only apply to the characters themselves but any rides attached to any Universal Studio names such as Batman and Superman. In short, for MW to make a profit, they must consider the significant amount that needs to be handed over to Universal Studios in the US before MW Australia can even start to think about making a profit. Dreamworld on the other hand have licensing agreements that are significantly less ownerous being ABC and the Wiggles for example. With the above stated, MW cannot afford to drop its ticket prices in the same manner as DW as BGH capital, owners of MW have significant intellectual property fees that needs to go back to the USA to pay for their use of Universal characters. DW can afford to be a lot more flexible and innovative in the way they manage their marketing and ticket sales processes as opposed to a more constraint and restricted MW theme park.
  2. Love the idea, love the vessel type, the only problem, the whole ride on the river exposes guests to rain and wind which will make this type of ride redundant for a big part of the winter and rainy seasons. If weather elements can be mitigated, this ride would be ideal and utilised full use of otherwise useless park geographical areas.
  3. Surprised that the whole ride is being removed and replaced, would’ve thought a re-theme and change of the bikes would have sufficed considering Coast Entertainment Holdings needs to concentrate on cash preservation for their upcoming multi hundred million dollar land development project. I guess with improved crowds coming back into the park leading to potentially improvements in revenue and cash generation, they may feel confident to be able to manage both the mega land development project and continue to rejuvenate the theme park. Regardless, this is good news, just hope they maintain the same standard of theming and continue to tie the whole story together. Any ideas what type of ride could be the replacement for motorcoaster?
  4. Interesting but unlikely it would be connected to dreamworld, especially considering the waterways do not connect. The original Captain Stewart paddle steamer was built on site at dreamworld and was operated by an underwater track. If dreamworld did reintroduce the captain Stewart paddle steamer, it would be more likely to be a construction at site project. The steamboat was referenced as being sold through auction by a Gold Coast unnamed buyer and was sold as an ongoing business and water ready albeit, work is required to bring it up to scratch. It would seem more likely for the 16 buyer to renovate and re-introduce back onto the river as a restaurant or something similar.. The vessel is also way too big to fit into the man-made river at dreamworld.
  5. Thought I would visit resurrect this thread as we are getting closer to final approval, the latest information in regards to the approval process as following. In regards to the new 30 ha multipurpose land development project, the Queensland government has given coast entertainment holdings the owner of the DW and WWW theme parks until 21 February 2026, to respond to 7 simpleton issues in total. Those seven issues raised by the Queensland government as part of the call in process requires the company to provide actions in relation to each of those issues raised. Without going into too much details in regards to stages of reviews leading to final government approval, it looks like likely that March/April 2026 maybe the period in which the government announces approval of the land development. Once land development has been approved, assumed to be no later than April 2026. Coast entertainment holdings will shortly thereafter, release information through the Australian stock exchange relating to joint venture and financial arrangements and agreements. Once Coast entertainment releases that information, construction can happen shortly thereafter. The total completion of the project is scheduled for 2030 shortly prior to the Queensland Olympic Games
  6. Totally agree that at some near future stage the Captain Stewart paddle streamer maybe re-introduced back into the theme park. Not only are there too many clues having been provided by dreamworld such as the Murals, but a 1920s paddle steamer would tie nicely with the new King Claw which was incidentally open up with the assistance of Captain Stuart and the whole jungle Rush and James restaurant 1920s themes. Weather the Captain Stewart paddle steamer would be a movable vessel or a fixed structure that may act as a bridge to connect the main Jungle Rush area to the bigger island, is yet to be seen. Dreamworld have shown themselves with Jungle Rush, Jane’s restaurant and King Claw that they have the ability to elevate ride theming to the next level. I can see a paddle steamer fitting in beautifully on the river and compliment the whole 1920s era of Jungle Rush and King Claw perfectly. For any designer and someone with a creative mind, the Captain Stewart Paddle streamer could be an incredible attraction that just ties everything into a nice neat story. Planes, trains and automobiles the only thing missing at dreamworld is a boat. if the Captain Stewart paddle steamer is introduced in the park the most likely area would be on the river, close towards Janes restaurant which intern would attract more visitors to the area, codify the 1920s theme and attract more people into the restaurant. connecting one of the train stations near the boarding platform of the paddle steamer and in close proximity to Jungle Rush and Jane’s restaurant seems to make perfect sense. 7. Does anyone have any information as to crowd sizes for MW and DW more specifically after 25 December 2025. How is dreamworld with its firework show, extended opening hours and the new King Claw offerings attracting crowds into the park? Is DW now starting to become more competitive with MW in terms of crowd attendance and foot traffic.
  8. Will Dreamworld Gold Coast be bringing back the paddle steamer, the Captain Sturt Paddle Wheeler as operated between 1981 until its closure in 2012, that offered rides around the park's Murrissipi River, sometimes with live shows. from the Facebook page of adventures of theme park girl and referenced by the new artist drawings as seen in the Emporium, aa drawing of the steam paddle boat is made very prominent . I have noticed with new management that little clues have often led to positive outcomes. I believe bringing him back. The steam boat may indeed be a real possibility and in my opinion would connect the whole theme between the claw and Jungle Rush very neatly. The steamboats would also attract more people to Jane‘s restaurant where boarding onto the steamboat will be most likely. The mine bowls, but I crossed my fingers that indeed this is the case
