Visited yesterday and got in 3 rides on Jungle Rush. It operated all day without interruption as far as I could tell. Two train operations and super fast 2-3 minute tops dispatches (probably helped having Greg in the operators booth as well. Love how hands on he is with these projects). 
 

Overall a great ride with great pops of airtime and laterals. The sound effects are fantastic and create an awesome atmosphere. Although I did see it scaring a lot of kids. Probably creating some core memories I’m sure. 
 

The indoor sections are a little underwhelming. Lots of black panel walls and the daylight comes right in lighting up things that are probably supposed to be hidden. Will definitely make for a great night ride. 
 

Overall fantastic addition to the park with it perfectly tying together with Tiger Island. Just needs some shady spaces to sit and it will be bang on. Well done Dreamworld.

I’ve heard on good authority that there is certainly more to come but they’ve had delays with some shipments. We’ll see this land and attractions continue to improve over the next few months.

Here today for the opening. Enjoyable family ride, such a unique experience switching directions mid ride.

Theming is next level, keen to see what they improve in the next few months.

Once all the greenery grows in, the area will be even more immersive.

Quite busy, about 45 minute wait for jungle rush running two trains. Ride ops are consistent though!

Have a few radio pop up gazebos giving out merch.

Not even going to attempt the cars. Queue is full.

Sadly steel taipan is only running one train, hopefully bring the other out for the boxing day crowds. Hour + wait

Trying out the Restaurant for lunch, theming again is great!

I’ve really tried to remain unbiased, but damn the differences in openings are polarising.

I really hope Clark or Bikash get a chance to visit Dreamworld today for some learnings they can apply to MW…

Attended the opening of Rivertown this morning and so I can directly compare Movieworld's and Dreamworlds. 

Dreamworld opened the doors to the park about 9:55am (and had a small contingent of VIPs and Theme Park enthusiasts in at 9:30am) and then had up to Rivertown gated off. At 10:05am we were then escorted down to outside the Jungle Rush coaster and there was about 15/20 mins of speeches and then the ride was ready to go. From the beginning the rides were open, stayed up for most of the day (Jungle Rush had a few periods of short down time) and the experience was really enjoyable. There were plenty of staff rostered on, the area looks amazing and well themed (and i am sure there is more to come, but it looks pretty much finished) and the radio was there giving out prizes. It felt like a true 'opening'.

I really like that Greg acknowledges theme park enthusiasts in his speeches and is so connected to the community needs. It's a much more humble approach to theme park management. His offsider Michelle (I believe she is Ops manager) spent the morning in the control booth of JR then went and helped serve at the Rivertown Restaurant, it is not uncommon to see Greg helping in these back of house areas, it shows that even the exec team will jump on board and help out - it's a really good look. This is in direct contrast to Bikash who was quick to scoop into the VIP fast pass queue at 10:05am for the WoZ rides. 

Dreamworld was alive today and it's great to see the hard work they are putting in paying off.

I'm so glad to see Greg and Michelle being so hands on with the park, and all the projects. It really does make a difference when you have people who are passionate about what they do. It's also great to see how far they have come since working with them many years ago back when Michelle was just a supervisor down at Movie World. Just goes to show that true passion and hard work really pays off. 

It's almost like they are not just running the park as a business, but it's like a passion project for them. Have the right people, in the right place doing the right thing and it's truly amazing to see the end results. I can't wait to check it out in April when I'm next up the coast

Single rider was open, it is quite far into the queue though just before the actual loading station. Same area you chose to start forward or backward.

I'm just interested if this practice will continue.  And if the kids will still be allowed to slide forward to reach the pedal.  If the belts are allowed to be worm loosely, the kids could just climb out, making the seat belt a waste of time.

The seat belt also currently sits on top of the bar which means a child could slide under the belt or climb out of it.

 

 

As I said these are still being installed and the positioning might change but it is a little interesting to see how they will work.

Tidbit about this from opening day: The drivers seat itself can now be slid forwards so that kids can reach the pedal.

This is an example of what a good boss looks like. Some of us might have worked jobs where your crappy manager/owner will do nothing and sit at his desk and not interact with anyone as opposed to acting in a front facing role towards customers when you can.

Hopefully the reception of the two areas from general audiences after Boxing Day is similar to the observations on here and causes the tide to change. I mean not having aircon or fans in parts of queues for rides in Oz should do that by itself, if movie world doesn’t change that ASAP they are kidding themselves. It’s time Greg and his team’s efforts in turning dreamworld around get rewarded

Greg has been working tirelessly to turn DW around for 5-6ish years… and it’s done it by leading from the forefront.

The man deserves some reward from his efforts via ticket sales, market share and share price

That is disclosed in coast entertainments financial report . Already granted .

 

This is a step in right direction but still a long way to go to get the business in better shape .

I agree with your review.  

I found theming overall good but the indoor section underwhelming.   I don't know if there is a story the ride is telling but if there is, it's very abstract.

The queue was hot for me but it looked like maybe they were having some issues with how it works because 2 staff were carrying pedestal fans.

As always the staff at DW are great.

MM is a great addition but the roof of the cars continues to suck for me, plus I still don't see the point of the seatbelts because nobody checks them.

As feared MM has the biggest queue in the park.  I also found Rivertown doesn't feel connected to the river. 

Facade of the gift store looks cheap.  I would say DW was reluctant to spend money on it with the limited life left in the Motocoaster.

The JR merch in the store is garbage.  It's the type of items I get for free at a work conference.

Overall, really well done DW.

Psssssss, hopefully DW already has some shaded seat to be placed by the river on backorder.

Just got home after spending most of today down at Rivertown. My thoughts

Rivertown

• The archway as you enter is awesome, so much texture and life to it.
• The front of the gift shop leaves a lot to be desired, I think it was a last minute decision and I hope we see some texture added to the front so it isn't just a brown box
• Inside the land itself is amazing everywhere you look, once the greenery grows in even more its going to be breathtaking. Themed street lights, themed seating, custom fences, nothing in the land feels generic or off the shelf.
• Some more shade along the main walkway and above the seats would be great, I personally felt there was a good amount of seats except around Murrisippi Motors its just most of them were in the sun and thus, unusable after baking for a few hours
• Drinking fountains? like I know they want to make money on drinks but come on guys, you have to at least give us one down there at least
• So glad they kept that giant Fig Tree in the middle of the land, without that I don't think the jungle illusion would work at all
• Access through to Tiger Island is the same as ABC kids used to be, works great for the flow of the park
• So many great locations to take off-ride shots of both attractions, will be great for families and for people filming for YouTube, especially once the Dreamworld Express is back open and runs behind Murrisippi Motors
• Blows WoZ out of water, the clear winner in regards to every possible aspect

Jungle Rush

• Theming in the queue and station is fantastic, easily the best in Australia IMO (except for the bunnings pedestal fan in the gem room which I have to assume is temporary, but I guess that's better than melting to death in a fenced in cattle pen)
• Clearly there is still a bit more theming to go inside the temple, the hill as the first enter seems to have a bunch of threads sticking down from the roof in preparation for more to be attached and you can see into the back of some of the panels as you climb onto the turntable initially
• Single rider was closed, however the queue was so short most of the day and I wasn't alone so didn't affect me, but I did see some seats going empty on some cycles
• Managed to easily get multiple rides in and experience front and back row rides in both directions. Backwards, row 10 (front seat of the train if you were going forwards) was my favourite, you get whipped around some of those corners. Almost like a kids DC Rivals back seat
• Longest queue we had was about 25mins and stretched back out past the gem room, had rides where we basically walked straight into the station
• The operations team were exceptional, quick dispatches with the only real hold up being guests leaving their items. They were actually paying attention too, if they had only half filled a train and more people came up through the queue they actually noticed and let them through. They were also asking anyone in the forwards line if they would like to jump over into the backwards to fill empty seats which I almost always saw someone take up the offer
• The "leave backwards" line seems far less popular, however I think its the better ride experience so that was a win for us, got multiple walk ons today for leaving backwards but never for leaving forwards
• The item storage is pretty poor though, having a tiny cabinet with a sliding door that wasn't being used to split it up between trains, leaving it just sitting in the middle blocking half the slots while people shoved it back and forth. The gap between the storage and the trains is very tight, resulting in people having to wait for those getting off to collect their items and then having to wait their turn to fit their items in. They did open the gates before people had finished collecting their items which was appreciated, and would be amazing with a better layout item storage system (and guests with their brains switched on).
• No test seat to be found, unless I am just blind
• Easily the best new coaster to open in Aus this year
