Girls 'assualted, molested at Jamberoo Action Park' By staff writers NEWS.com.au December 12, 2008 11:30am FIVE youths have been arrested after the alleged assault and molestation of girls at a fun park. Police said a 15-year-old girl was swimming with a friend in a pool at Jamberoo Action Park on the New South Wales south coast when they were approached by a group of male youths about 2.15pm (AEDT) on Tuesday. Police allege the girl was sexually assaulted by at least two of the youths. A third girl was allegedly approached by the males and indecently assaulted in the same pool a short time later. Police stopped a bus at Mount Ousley, near Wollongong, shortly after and arrested five male youths. A 15-year-old boy was charged with aggravated sexual assault (victim under 16 years) and aggravated indecent assault (victim under 16 years). A 12-year-old boy was charged with aggravated sexual assault (victim under 16 years). The three other youths were released from custody pending further inquiries, police said.
Food for thought for parents who leave their children - however old - unsupervised in Parks.

It makes me wonder what the life guards were doing if this was able to happen. Several girls being approached by a group of youths more than once and them being able to be assaulted sounds like they're not doing a very good job supervising the pool. At GC parks there are even underwater cameras that are monitored so even if the 'assults' were going on beneath the surface they would be seen.

Having worked as a lifeguard at WLS I know how hard it can be to keep an eye on everything that is going on in a pool, especially with teenage school kids. It would be easy to miss this happening because looking at the group they may appear to be just mucking around and besides that you have the rest of the people in the pool to worry about. The definition of "sexual assault" is very broad and without knowing further information it's hard to say what really happened. Bussy
