  • This is a comment I always take issue with!! Unless you are a park employee or ride contractor/manufacturer EVERYONE is general public. Self proclaimed enthusiast or not, you're still general public.

  • Ta for the pic. They did miss out on the steepest drop record, but at least they can claim for the worlds largest bug zapper.

Maybe not much at the moment but hopefully some tie in plans Coming within the next couple years... The Neverending story (2014)

Wasn't Movieworld considering getting this a few years back? I remember hearing the rumours - originally as a replacement for the Gremlins ride. Could be a suitable replacement for LTRR now :P

Here is 3 photos taken at 3pm today, the lift hill has started to be built now. So far we have the station through to the 1st section of Lift Hill in place. Sorry they aren't the best photos, they were snapped up on my phone. post-134-0-67540400-1316589245_thumb.jpg post-134-0-42674300-1316589260_thumb.jpg post-134-0-87376800-1316589278_thumb.jpg

I notice they haven't started work on buildings or structures yet. Oh please don't let this be like Jet Rescue where they build a crappy little partially outdoor station with ugly awnings and a painted 2D sign stuck on the side. I will feel much better when we start to see some structures rising from the ground

I was at Movieworld yesterday (sat 24/9) and took some photos of the coaster going vertical. I was up from Melbourne during the past week, so to see some construction whilst on holidays was pretty cool. I can't wait to come back and get on this ride though...looks really cool already haha They have placed some nice promotional banners on the construction fences which show off the new lap-bar only restraints and 4 across seating! I'm personally a huge fan of lap-bar only restraints...it gives you an insecure feeling, especially on a ride like this where there will be a lot of hang time. They were working mainly on pouring concrete footers when I was there, no track/support assembly. But this is what they are up to as of yesterday:

By looking at these photos, is it possible to confirm we are getting a larger model of the El Loco? I really don't know much about them, I'm more of a "mainstream" coaster nerd.

Well going off the animated promo Movie World have on their site it looks to be a standard El Loco layout, just bigger in size.

Well i'd say that a standard El Loco but bigger in size = a larger model of the El Loco So you are both correct??

Is great to see Australia getting another world first. Well done MovieWorld.

Again... Not a B&M, Just another moment where Australian parks charge such high-prices but yet again give us the bare minimum.

^ What?? Just because it's not a B&M doesn't mean it's the bare minimum, and have you noticed how cheap it is to get into the parks these days? Both the thing you're saying are wrong. Just letting you know so you don't make the same mistake again. Just part of the service we offer here, have a nice day :)

I am so over the whole, 'it's not a B&M' mentality. Get over it! It's something new, and a new experience not yet had here in Australia, be happy.

People want a B&M because they are big and smooth. Out of all the RC's I have been on I would rate the standards as 1.B&M 2.Intamin 3.Premier Rides 4.Mack Rides 5.Zamperla 6.Zierer 7.Custom Coasters Thats why people want a B&M. Which would be nice to have. It could be possible as a B&M would be better value then most other companies. Just look at Buzzsaw. It cost 7 Million. A large invert B&M (Silver Bullet, Knott's Berry Farm)cost $16 million. (Give or take a bit due to changes in the times)Buzzsaw was only just under half the price for 1/10 of the amount of product.

No, enthusiasts want a B&M. The general public won't and don't care who manufacturers a coaster. I think the El Loco was a brilliant buy. From what I've heard they are very smooth and a heap of fun. It's great that they have recognized a potential capacity issue and chose to go with the 8 seat cars. This, accompanied with some very unique elements and lap bars will make for a really great coaster that I'm sure a lot of people will be talking about.

I have been on plenty of B&M's sure there smooth and BIG... but i find them very forceless and very generic. Superman Escape is better then most B&M's i have been on. It may appear the cost is comparable but unfortunately there are many factors at play with building something in Australia that is not in the stated price of $12mil. For one the biggest thing against us getting anything MASSIVE is the cost of shipping, the cost to get goods to Aus is one of the reasons we pay more for most things here. The bigger the coaster the more you need to ship. I also beleive bigger coasters require specialist engineers over and above what would be available in Australia when installing the attraction. As a rule, the further from design and manufacture the more you will pay over and above anyone else geographically. Sadly.... we are pretty much as far away from the rest of the cilivised world as you can be. Makes you feel pretty good for what we have acheived already. Anyone else get the feelig that maybe Green Lantern Coaster is MW's smallest investment in a much larger overall redevelopment? Like DW start with the small attraction then a bigger one. Maybe this time next year Batman Ride 2 will be converting into an even bigger budget attraction? Hmmmmwould be smart of VRTP to do that because i would doubt Ardent throwing another $5-$10 mil at DW the very next year of a large capital expenditure spend. Imagine if they invest in replacements for Looney Tunes and Bermuda Triangle the years following. 4 years of massive capital expenditure would be a killer for the competition.

While I'm all for a B&M to make it's way out here, I understand it's never going to happen unless one of us wins the lotto and buys one for the park. Of the recent additions, I'd have to say MW made the right choice in bringing in a full circuit coaster for just a bit more than DW was able to make a circle. Now if only I could afford passes again :(

B-b-but for such high prices the people are paying for the Australian Parks is outrageous, What does it show for it? Barely anything, Getting Rides/Attractions that the rest of the world has had for years... Long gone are the days where the parks are spending $16 million for the Tower of Terror or $18 Million for Wild West Falls so instead going for the bare minimum.
