  • There's something inherently puzzling about choosing to theme a thrill ride to a range of toys whose target market barely reach the height requirement.

Sorry I didn't get a photo, but I saw the fenced off part of the pool near the main entry yesterday (the one that used to have remote control boats in).

It appears they are building a sort of stage which partly covers the front end of the pool.

At least it looks like a stage to me so far, and it would be a great place for one.

I don't know what V8 cars have to do with Dreamworld really.  Two different types of people. Those who like car racing have plenty of places to go but theme parks aren't one of them.

While not my favourite, I think "Racing" is a pretty decent theme. For parks that don't tend to theme up their rides, it's a pretty quick and easy way to give any ride a quick aesthetic boost with a dash of "story".

Take a look at Xcelerator at Knott's Berry Farm for example. They could've easily gone the way of rides such as Silver Bullet, with minimal themeing and story, but by adding a racing theme it gives sense to the experience as well as giving a nice appearance to the surrounds.

funny thing is from 1981 till around 1992 just before they built the wipe out there use to be a building around that area that held giltrap's auto museum . so along with modal t lane and the go cart track that once was under the thunderbolt dreamworld once had a motoring - raceing theme in its early days

is that your personal collection mate?

Nah, just a random pic I found online. I've only got the '12,'13 and '14 Bottle-O cars. I've got the 2015 Bottle-O and Pepsi Max cars on pre-order though.

The Tower of Terror tower has gotten some TLC in the past few days... drove past Dreamworld tonight after 9pm on the way home from the airport, and the cylinder up the top of the pole has a nice new band of colour changing LED lights. You can easily spot the pole from a fair distance away now.

When we drove to Brisbane airport at 4am Friday morning it had just been the usual tiny blinking red light up top. The new lights definitely look a lot more interesting ☺

The flashing/rotating blue/green/red LEDs have been in place for a number of years now. Every now and then they're not turned on for a night (forgot to flip the switch maybe) but yeah, they've been on for at least 3-4 years (they top of the tower is visible just above the tree line in the distance when in my backyard)

DW posted this photo on FB saying there are a number of new project underway at the park. They are supposed to be open by September school holidays.

Someone commented on the post asking about Eureka Mine Ride. And DW replied saying they have a few surprises up their sleeve.

That looks so much nicer than the old Churro stand they had at the exit to the park. Is it just me or is Dreamworld actually becoming quite classy compared to where they were 3 - 4 years ago? I'm actually pretty impressed with the general direction they are heading.
