My guess is that the umbrellas onthe right will be relocated to the Wipeout site, forming the shade.

Looks like there is no budget for the seating though. It was spent on the hoarding instead. Therefore, guests wishing to make use of the shaded seating area, once it opens, can simply sit on the floor under the umbrellas.

Let's hope it opens these school holidays!

Never realised the wave had water cascading out of it. Rode Wipeout in 1997, 2006, and 2007. First time in '97 I don't remember much except walking through the back of the wave to get to the ride, but the second and third years ('06, '07) the water wasn't coming out of the wave like that.  Guessing it was a feature of the ride, like the shark,  that they turned off? Saving Water?

The water savings from the water restrictions were much later in the rides life, and well into the 2000’s. These were the same restrictions that saw the waterfall near Billabong turned off, and yes the fountains in the Main Street fountain were also turned off.

With Wipeout, the restrictions saw them empty the pool altogether.

The waterfall effects were turned off very early on the rides life. I’ve found some awesome photos and video footage of the ride in its infancy on the Dreamworld Golden Years Facebook page,
