  1. Past hour
  2. This thread has reached peak enthusiast level when its being argued what a ride is
  3. a slide is considered a type of amusement ride, especially large ones found at fairs or parks, like Giant Slides, Water Slides, or Helter Skelters, which involve climbing stairs (or a lift) and sliding down for fun, using gravity for motion just like a coaster. Why it's a ride: Amusement: It provides entertainment and thrills, similar to other park attractions. Mechanics: Uses physics (potential to kinetic energy) to move people, often with a specific vehicle (mat, raft) or just the body. Structure: Has distinct parts (stairs, slide surface) and often requires payment or acceptance of terms for use. Variety: Ranges from simple playground slides to massive water slides and carnival "giant slides" with multiple lanes for racing. So whether it's a small playground slide or a massive waterpark attraction, if it's designed for recreational sliding, it fits the definition of a ride.

  5. Might just be me but I think the constant village jibes are wearing a bit thin Especially when the ride reopening down the road has has been restored from the abomination that the now dreamworld ceo turned it into
  6. Right lol. Council pool slide
  7. A slide is a slide. I would never classify that as a ride
  8. Has it just reopened or it running like a 🐷?
  9. The 8th was the original intended opening date but it got pushed back. I'm pleased they've learnt from Leviathan and Oz and actually doing a soft opening!
  10. Surely thats pr suicide if you advertise the 14th but close it at 5 I also remember back in the day that scooby had to close early for fright nights as the brakes all had to be checked again before night running hopefully the new systems mean thats no longer the case
  11. Thank you we wouldnt accept that down the road so lets make sure we hold all parks to high standard and account so they keep delivering better quality Rivertown is so well done id hate to see it decline after the shine wears off Defects liability periods are a thing but that all depends on how this was structured and delivered the perk may have done elements themselves and also when it comes to av most warranty is all return to supplier so its not like someone is coming down to jungle rush to fix it themselves
  12. depends on if they trained enough crew for opening.
  13. I don't accept that and see it as a cop out. If you can't maintain your standards while doing other new projects that bring in additional revenue, then you shouldn't do other projects. We've had occurrences over the more than two decades that this forum has existed where someone has called out an effect not working and it's very quickly been resolved. Sometimes things have been waiting parts or a qualified tech and it takes longer. And sometimes the park is just poor at maintaining things. It's not ideal for it to have this kind of issue right before peak season, but sometimes things happen and i'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt in the short term - so I agree - hopefully they get back on top of things in the near future - but saying KC and BB are the reason for the rest of the park falling into disrepair should never be seen as an acceptable excuse.
  14. It doesn't surprise me that you'd choose to nitpick that particular phrase... At any rate, I wouldn't call a slide a ride either. You better go tell Village because they refer to slides separately too!
  15. A water slide is a ride but it doesn't surprise me DW doesn't know. 😆
  16. there is a min. period where the supplier must fix these items and the period is longer than 6 months. It's written into the construction contract.
  17. They’ve also had a lot on their plate with BB and the KC launch. I’m sure they’ll get back on top or anything necessary
  18. The problem is that its very easy and economical to do av and theming that looks great at opening and lasts 6 months But to do something that is reliable day in day out getting flogged as it does in a ride is very hard and expensive Our parks often go for the first option
  19. Will it continue operation into White Christmas or will it close at 5, the million dollar question.
  20. I can't say 'all'. they had some cracker videos pushed out a while back. I know there's some really passionate people up there, but there's also some people who just don't get it. The jokes on them though, really.
  21. Yesterday
  22. Did you just describe pretty much all village marketing of the last several years
  23. Yeah, Staff cost more, so less staff and limit tickets.
  24. They've had literal years to come up with a relaunch campaign and these videos just feel a bit flat. There's no excitement here.
  25. Loving the nice clean feel of the new forum. Thanks for the upgrade Richard. No issues so far but I did find that the multiquote feature doesn't automatically insert a line break between each quote so you can comment after each quoted reply - I found there is an "Enter" arrow at the bottom right of each quote I could use to insert line breaks - Not a bug or issue now I found the solution but posting here so others who encounter the same issue know how to fix.
