It's bricks and it will be an iconic destination store that will draw people to the park (or at least to the entry), which can never be seen as a bad thing...4 points

Well shot, clever idea, and totally Japan. Don't forget that in Japan "onsens" (public bathhouses) are a big part of the country's overall history & culture, up there with Mount Fuji & Sumo Wrestling. Most hotels will have an onsen of some description, and i'd dare say if you go to Japan and don't experience an onsen at least once during your stay you're missing out. Beppu isn't exactly part of the main tourist hubs (Tokyo, Kyoto & Osaka), in fact as far as transport goes, you'll be putting your JR Rail Pass to good use just getting to Beppu (approx. 4 hours from Kyoto via Shinkansen / JR Rail) but something like this is a new forward-thinking way to get themselves on the map, which I think is worth commending. Having said this, I still think if you want to really go full hog on your onsen experience, you travel up to Hakone or somewhere around the Fuji five lakes and grab yourself a nice Ryokan (traditional Japanese hotel) and perch yourself up there for a few nights. Great view, some excellent ryokans and you're only roughly 2 hours from Shinjuku Station via public transport.3 points

And lego isn't necessarily just for kids... I know a few adults who still use them I think it will become a major drawcard for Dreamworld.2 points

I've also heard they're really off the rails on another project right now, so it might be a while.2 points

I can also confirm that this person is happily married, and that both robots are currently enjoying retirement. I have heard though that the owner is wanting to one day get them operational again.2 points

You hear that VRTP... If Tom says it's not too soon to discuss a new park then it's fine to announce the new coaster...2 points

If anybody wants to see skeets head rotate 360 you should ask that question again. For future reference we have a timeline you can put on your fridge.2 points

The height might only be 196 feet but if the drop went underground 20-30 feet it's actually drop height would be 216-226 feet, which is considered a tall hyper. P.s im on schoolies so if you can't read this im drunk2 points

@Tornado Lego is pretty popular with adults to my friend bought a Lego man for over $40, just for one little figure. This is what over-priced bricks look like, but people buy them and don't think it's lame1 point

A quick loop at the end followed by a flume style splashdown should sort that for you1 point

Lego is in no way just for kids, it's a very popular hobby among adults (or any age for that matter). Plus, DW will be having the first official Lego store in Australia, and having been to one in the UK very recently, they are quite special.1 point

I'm hoping this isn't a sign of the closure of the ride, and at the moment the chance the ride gets dismantled is very slim, given we know very little about the situation. I'm thinking SW are replacing the aged signage with replacement signs. Didn't Sea Viper's logo sign remain on the station until they shut the ride and demolished the station?1 point

I just edited the post with some more meat in it which explains that it's definitely worth the cost overall (would've edited it while you were writing the response.) Dreamworld's always had some gorgeous flower gardens, I don't think it's a stretch to see them expand on that and just do something nice and fresh. It's something that would easily become a staple design point of the front entrance if done right. They could do amazing seasonal gardens just like the Disney parks that people would add a unique touch their first point of contact with the park.1 point

I'm starting to be bit more concerned now that the ride's age is beginning to show - it seems too odd to open after maintenance to only shut down again after 1 day. If ride signage is indeed being removed, it indicates to me that they've either decided to do a major refurbishment of the ride now (as it's too risky to continue operation in it's current state) or they are preparing the ride for a soon-to-be announced permanent closure.1 point

I think people massively over estimate the amount of international visitation an Australian theme park gets. There is a reason that Paradise Country has been going after the local market so hard lately, and that reason isn't an over abundance of international guests. When you talk about how many international visitors a park gets a day, even a park like Paradise Country, most days you're talking about a couple hundred, not a couple thousand. Everyone thinks Outback Spectacular is sustained by internationals, and I'm pretty sure that was the goal when they built it, but from everything I've seen since it opened Australians make up the vast majority of the audience there. I'd be surprised if 20% of the other parks attendance was made up of international tourists. So the idea you can get enough Chinese tourists to an attraction in Australia based on Chinese culture to sustain a $500million investment I think is a massive departure from reality. Unless there is a traditional theme park buried in the plans somewhere to get the locals involved, this will fail. On the other hand I'm not totally convinced that the plan is to actually build it either.1 point

Hold up.. you can't release a calendar and then retract it later... once you've locked a date in ya gotta stick to it.1 point

It really doesn't matter to me if its just over one metre off, it's still a hypercoaster in my book, even though it's not technically official, it's just too tiny of a difference. If it was 5-10 metres short then i would say wouldn't be able to hold the title Youre just going to have to put your hands up reeeeeallly high while going over the lift hill!1 point

I can read it fine. Have another drink Anyhow if it was to go underground I'd expect the pit do be done with the rest of the ground work and there has been no evidence of that. P.S. Drink responsibly1 point

That's great to hear despite the park going through some of its worst weeks ever, they're trying to bring it back on the other side in pristine condition.1 point

Everyone is sad, everyone is shocked, but in time you will get over it, as will everyone. That's meant in no disrespect for the families & friends of those lost, but as a reality. At some point, life forces you to move forward and leave things behind. Not forget, but no longer dwell. if it truly has effected you as much as you constantly post about @POP, then you should speak with your GP and get some help - that's not a dig at you, that's a sincere suggestion1 point

I think we need some of these... Honestly though, in response to your post @POP... Yeah with a young kid I would definitely be worried if something like that happened... You would think though that staff would have stopped the ride so you stopped at the lift hill as a precaution... If one thing failed (like the release of so many boats already) and no safety system kicked in at the next available point (the start of the lift hill) you would be hesitant to believe that the next safety precaution would kick in properly... Especially if you had no detailed knowledge of how the ride system works...-1 points
