Nice busy carpark at Dreamworld this afternoon, desperate the unsettled weather. Lots of people inside ☺️?6 points

As we've seen - he is quite capable of creating another account. You can ban a user, but they can always create another account. IP bans do nothing in today's dynamic IP world (as well as multiple devices). I'm sure the community leadership team have discussed what to do with this guy, and tbh imo it's safer to leave him be - at least we know who it is (it took a few days to cotton on to the new profile) - all we have to do is ignore him. resist the urge to reply to anything he says - NO MATTER WHAT IT IS. Since I made my post about ignoring him, i've made one reply to something he said which I quickly edited to remove it. I've replied around him to every other person on the thread without acknowledging what he said directly. The sooner everyone does that, the sooner he will get bored with posting and move onto something else.3 points

I imagine they would've just removed them to make access to the motors much easier, so they can complete a full check. Once it is done, hopefully they'll just be put back in place.2 points

I think @joz has a ripper of an idea with putting a Main Event inside the old Ampitheatre. For many reasons it makes sense, and it's far enough away from the rest of the park that it would still be its own distinctive sports bar/laser tag/bowling/panic room business. I think it's safe to say that this year no matter what Dreamworld build, it's not going to compete (at least in terms of thrills) with what Movie World's building. I'd love to see the land all the way from Blue Lagoon out to Buzzsaw either cleared out or cleaned up. I'd imagine all that land that sits infront of Giant Drop through to Buzzsaw would be great for a large Gold Rush stage, a new Gold Rush Food & Bev building and plenty of open space under the gum leaves. As for rides, here's my picks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHxqNFut2d8 Intamin Water Coaster - you'll get wet, it's a worthy successor to River Rapids, and it has many marketable assets over Storm (the tilting elevator, two splashdowns etc.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qTyfn10c2c Zampera Vertical Swing - great family ride, i've seen variants pop up everywhere recently overseas. Not over the top, not too thrilling either. Great filler for a space near the old Chairlift building. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLByOaGachU Gerstlauer Euro Fighter - They'd be crazy not to get one of these in their near future. They need, need, need, need, need an actually decent roller-coaster worth queueing up for, because up against Superman Escape and what they're building their roller-coaster offerings aren't in the same league. A marketable strength could be one like Smiler in Alton Towers that has a crazy amount of inversions i.e. "most inversions in Australia."2 points

Ok, so everyone keeps saying "don't feed the troll" "ignore him and he'll go away" "block him" etc. And yet here we are. Another day, another post, another bunch of replies from everyone getting angry. You realise that even by replying to correct him, you're feeding the troll and he's winning. He makes no secret of the fact that he's a troll and yet every day someone falls for it. Clearly it's entertaining everyone and he's sure enjoying it, so I guess everyone's ok with it, admins/leaders included, so it is what it is. Maybe everyone could at least stop whining about the posts and just attack the posts rather than the poster. It's not even providing entertaining reading at the moment.2 points

You don't say. Part of the reason I don't participate on Parkz anywhere near as much as I used to is because I'm sick of the trolls, particularly the one in question. I don't understand why they *still* haven't been banned, despite their history of being a nuscience and how clearly they are bothering numerous members right now. There is only so much tongue biting one person can do. Last time I failed to do so, I found my post deleted the following morning. I'm over it ?2 points

I have a philosophy about articulated discourse with people who don't wish to have a healthy conversation that I learnt from an ex-girlfriend, and that is to simply walk away and not waste my time, because i've learnt that for folks who lack the ability to cognitively reason with facts think that a good rebuttal is just someone back-peddling, which in turn re-inforces their own dribble. In your case however @SunshineTom, I will make an exception to walking away from said dribble. In another thread, I spent a great deal of my time absolutely destroying your opinion regarding Tiger Island with tiger conservation facts supported by dozens of independently peer researched studies, and I gave you all the links and access you would need to be enlightened that clearly showed your opinion was at best, complete rubbish. Instead, you chose to ignore what I wrote (which was written specifically for you, just FYI) and peddled some other crap with another Parkz member. Now, again, i've done the same thing in the article I wrote over at OurWorlds. I literally have photos that I took with my own two hands that debunk the sensationalist, sky is falling spam that you and Murdoch seem to get their rocks off on. Multiple people here and even people on the NewsCorp portals have made comments that the journo in question was wrong. In fact, dozens of people, both from the park and abroad have reached out to me over night and continued to support what I wrote and corroborate further recollections and encounters of the park doing well in its current state. So having said all this, and keeping in mind my exception, I say to you, @SunshineTom, eat a bag of dicks. I'm not one to almost ever get emotional or fired up on these forums (atleast not in the past few years) but you my fellow enthusiast are an ignoramus of the highest calibre, the kind who I wrote about, actually. The kind who throws facts and figures in the wind and thinks that Trump will be a great president because "he thinks with his feelings and emotions." I don't speak on the behalf of anyone but myself, but the vibe I continue to get is that you are not welcome here because your biggest contribution to date is senseless negativity. I always welcome critical opinions and thinking, and no one is saying that is not welcome here. In fact, just recently I wrote about the Ekka ride that is now Scooby Doo in another thread in an openly critical way, which didn't seem to land too well with the folks at Movie World. And that sucks, because I didn't bang my drum like you did and shout "MOVIE WOLD IZ DOOMD, THSI IS THE STAT EVRYN," actually, I formed an idea and explained why I reached that conclusion, what I'd do to change that situation etc. etc. and yet, my logical deduction is tossed out the window because everyday parks, outsiders and everyone in between continues to put people like yourself in the same camp as people like me (enthusiasts as a whole), and as a result, to be frank, your crap ruins it for everyone. *drops mic*2 points

Not Scooby! But I said that when they removed the Gremlins ride. would be different to go for a ride through there now with it all stripped bare. I wonder where all the theming is? Hope they haven't just dumped it all and if so... who knows where the dumpsters are?!! :-) Does anyone have like a layout of the whole track as though looking from above through the roof? Cheers.1 point

True - In LPS's case, the State Government shut it down immediately and called for tenders to operate the park a month later. It took a year & 3 months before they found a suitable operator who re-built the park (except for the Face, Coney Island & Crystal Palace) to re-open 2 years & 10 months after the fire. While DW was shut down immediately, they still have the same operators & re-opened 45 days after the incident.1 point

I believe there's a little bit of land between the two attractions that will hopefully drain the noise out a bit1 point

We have some progress. The columns around the site for the fence, are being painted the white/cream like GLs and there are cables sticking out the top. There are also block fence posits between each concrete column, which will also be a part of the fence.1 point

Yeah, no. My point being that every accident or park going bankrupt scenario is different from each other. No way is LPS going to have the same money and support that DW would have from Ardent. There are so many different variables @SunshinePrincess wouldn't have that it's impossible to tell if DW is going to get sold to some Malaysian conglomerate a year from now.1 point

Exactly. He openly admits he is here to troll and cause drama. So why the hell has he still not been banned? Dozens of users should not have to continually ignore or avoid an ongoing troublemaker... instead, the troll in question should be swiftly removed. Otherwise (and with all due respect) what exactly is the point of having assigned forum moderators? Isn't part of that responsibility to remove confirmed trolls from the forum, as opposed to just continuing to clean up the messy aftermath around them whilst they drive everyone nuts? Seriously guys, I know you prefer to give people a fair chance on here, but I believe that most of the regular community would agree with me that enough is enough. This guy has had SO many chances. Parkz is gonna start losing more genuine/longterm members' participation in here otherwise. I'm sure we all agree that POP, in whatever obvious shape or form he chooses to use over and over, isn't worth that sacrifice...1 point

Reminds me of my Extreme World pitch in that it combines the natural allure of a major theme major in a growing residential area with the company's local entertainment skillset. There's a lot the company does really well in family entertainment that just hasn't been applied to Dreamworld. I guess my only issue with the idea is that I don't see Ardent / Main Event as owners of the property much beyond the next few years.1 point

I'd be more inclined to think that the boats are the weak link in the chain as it were. Most of the ride has been updated/replaced in the past 40 years, the boats haven't. There's only so many times you can patch them up before it's a bad idea to do any more, as it is the boats are way heavier than they used to be, which actually is the biggest cause of downtime for the ride; heavy boats not making it over the top break. It also means the capacity of the boats has effectively been reduced from 4 adults to 2 or 3 adults as well as a kid or 2.1 point

You've replaced garbage with more garbage. Here's one link on how to evaluate credible journal articles. Oh, and here's another. I'm done. Good luck in life with the blinkers on. Thanks everyone by the way for the lovely words & support.1 point

Just got off Pandemonium after a 25 minute wait and as you can see from this picture of Tiger Island seating area, @SunshineTom you can clearly see DW is in trouble!! So nice to see the Crowds back here in droves today and enjoying the Park. Atmosphere is great and as more rides reopen, it's only going to get better1 point

I just feel gutted (no pun intended) I had no idea this was happening! Does anyone have the story on what went down? Can it be shared now it's out in the public? I'm quite shocked that it is running to the public appearing like this, they could of at least shoved some tacky disco lights and smoke all over the place to hide the mess instead of worker lights (as a temporary measure obviously). I get it that they need this open for boxing day crowds but without signage or forewarning it would be quite a spooky coaster finding everything gone! But of course the enthusiast in me wants to head on down to see it in person out of morbid curiosity!1 point

Yeah, I got that the first 10 times, @AlexB, I just completely disagree. No need for font changes because I am reading it. I just have a different opinion ? I guess as an ex forum owner/admin myself for nearly 10 years who dealt with many, many troll visits, I know there are alternative options potentially available than just putting up with one. Vbulletin software had third party mods available which helped to deal with troublemakers, including getting around the IP issue. It's possible that Invision has the same. I'm really hoping admin have looked into it? Otherwise, if he keeps coming back, consider just banning him again and again? He will get bored of that just as quickly, especially when he has to keep starting over. And that will save everyone here a lot of headaches as well. It's not like he's good at hiding his identity, look how fast we blew his cover the second time round lol... not many enthusiasts here are boycotting half the theme parks on the Gold Coast ? ETA: Just want to apologise as well for potentially derailing the topic any further, seems to be happening a lot in this one since this is Pop's favourite spot to haunt and annoy people atm... could we please have a new topic to discuss the trolls instead? ?0 points

You know what? I've had it with the delusional denialists who think they speak for the general public when it comes to attitude towards Dreamworld. You are theme park enthusiasts, a niche community and a very small one. Most people go to a theme park once a year at the most. You can bet that that once a year trip will be spent elsewhere in the near future judging by the comments on the Daily Mail article today. Notice the upvotes/downvotes ratio - quite stark to the ones dished out here. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4086396/Dreamworld-s-summer-sadness-four-people-died-ride-tragedy-Gold-Coast-theme-park.html#reader-comments Once again, i'm not trolling, merely publishing the inconvenient truth on a board of people who don't wish to hear such stuff due to the bubbles they live in.-3 points
