  1. They were running two trains in the testing this afternoon, and as soon as one reached the brake run, the next one would leave. I recorded many videos, which I've added below. But here are a few photo updates first. Look at it in action A path is being laid leading from the main road and down along side the coaster Landscaping is complete and the carpark is slowly returning EDIT: Here are a couple of those videos of the ride in testing
  2. We're not getting a B&M coaster in Australia anytime soon. Period.
  3. God you guys can be fucking rude to new members. This forum has barely any activity because you're all bullies 😂😂
  4. Some shots from today, these were taken from the gate near GL/JL Some shots of the coaster being tested because why not? (It was my first time today seeing the coaster being tested)
  5. I figured out where the Wildcat theory came from... Dippin dots guy is at it again!
  6. This I can agree with. We aren't all experts, someone's probably about to quote this and say don't sign up and join then, but you know what? We can join if we have interest, we all learn. You didn't know everything at one point either.
  7. Hey anyone know what dreamworlds next addition will be I am thinking a 500ft, wooden, dive coaster.
  8. Superman Escape is widely considered one of Intamin's best hydraulic launch coasters in the world. I'm really lost as to how any part of the ride could be seen as "terrible". Even if DC Rivals is a lot worse than we thought it would be (it won't be, but for this case let's assume it is), it'll still be the best coaster in Australia, no doubt about that.
  9. I've heard the new attraction will involve blindfolds and a poor marketing strategy...
  10. Imagine that. A park fixing an effect somewhere in a three year time frame.
  11. Other than the big purple monstrosity that is currently testing at Movieworld...............
  12. Very True with that, I just wanted to dream, would a eurofighter be good for dreamworld
  13. Closer look at some of theming, and the back of the train (Photos TPSN)
  14. I am gonna say we won't get any major scale coaster in Australia for a few years at least.
  15. @pushbutton this seems like your thing. Where ya been.
  16. Why are we talking about the state of Movie World when the state of Sea World is worse because of how they keep closing rides and never replacing them (pirate ship, sea viper, water park, vikings revenge, skyway)
  17. In my opinion, from the footage above, the second half of the coaster doesn't seem sluggish at all to me. I mean, I guess a tiny bit when the train crests the stengel dive, but other than that it seems to gain back it's speed and cruise along the track at a great pace.
  18. Just switch B&M dive coaster with Gerstlauer dive coaster and you suddenly go from angering to pleasing the hoards.
  19. On the contrary I think we got one of the better Rocket coasters. TTD/Kingda Ka have the speed and height but are very short lived experiences, Xcelerator doesn't do much after it's (fantastic) initial launch, Stealth and its clones are mini Kingda Ka's... SE tells a story brilliantly with good theming, has a punchy launch and a great layout for the available space. Curious to know what you thought of MF? Lots of floaty air and big elements but for me it was one of the most underwhelming coasters of my trip. It bored me. Low lying elements are exactly what this coaster type should contain IMO - I really think Mack did a great job designing this coaster. It feels like a greatest hits collection of coaster elements. Other than the initial camelback it doesn't have your traditional out-and-back up-down floaty hills but there'll certainly be no shortage of air.
  20. I'm actually quite surprised to read that. Rode Superman the Ride last year and it was very good and enjoyable, but nowhere near the intensity and crazy ejector-ness of Expedition GeForce. I heard it does not run as well as in its heyday, perhaps because of the several train changes, but my point is StR isn't necessarily the strongest airtime machine out there - and judging from my conversations with American coasterfans, I still look like I'm overrating it! I am a little disappointed about the trims, but I don't mind them very much tbh. DC Rivals trimless looked ridiculously fast and so much snappier than Helix. Helix is actually rather moderate intensity though the constant speed and great duration, plus amazing layout more than make up for that. If it is only slowed down a little, I think DC Rivals will still be more forceful than Liseberg's multi-launch, especially if that first hill is not trimmed! I will give my full impressions on that ride in a video, but honestly I can see it making at least my Top 10!
  21. The trims will always slow the train unless it is not moving, in which case magnetic braking could not hold it still. Like Richard said in the article, the braking force will change in relation to the speed that the train is going. So a train going faster past the trims will experience a larger braking force, purely due to the physics behind magnetic braking.
  22. That doesn't tell me what changes though. I just find it odd that with all the tech available today that can design this stuff in the first place that in the end, it still comes down to "let's see what happens when we build it".
  23. The trims were obviously added to reduce those crazy forces at the turn around.
  24. After reading this article I'm definitely willing to stop judging the trims until I get a ride on it. This is Mack here we're talking about, not B&M who install trims to make sure all hills are perfect floater airtime. They'll make sure the airtime on the ride is as ejectorish as safely (and comfortably) as possible.
  25. Cue the theme park nerd frenzy who read just the title and not the whole article in 3,2...
  26. Honestly this looks better than Flash. I haven't seen a proper POV of this of course, but Flash looks really sluggish. One or two massive airtime hills are great, but Flash has a bunch and most of them are trimmed, which brings it into B&M hyper territory. And I'd take a NI loop over a normal loop any day (unless it's a really intense loop, but Flash's isn't). I love my sensation of speed and low to the ground twists and turns, so I'm really looking forward to this ride because it's full of that. I would agree that Helix is probably still going to be a better ride than this, but to me this could very well be Mack's second best coaster.
  27. Part 2: Plopsaland Plopsaland opened my 2017 season and I discovered the park last April not in the best circumstances. The weather was rainy then, and I happened to visit a certain place called Phantasialand the day after. With the park not being too far from Efteling I thought why not trying it again? Night opening was also a lure - although that did not end up according to my plans... The summer sky really improves the look of the entrance plaza! Love the cartoonish facade. The farm section of Plopsa is quite an odd fit for an amusement park, but I actually don't mind! I find it amusing more than anything else. The nearby Circus zone does feel tacky though - not up to the park's standards. After a lot of wandering and camera stuff, I entered the queue for Heidi the Ride. The wait time wasn't indicated, but I ended up riding the little GCI an hour after my first steps into the queue. I was now thinking I should have arrived earlier at the park and not rest so much from the tiring 12 hour Efteling day... The actual ride was good fun. Not worth an hour wait, but delivering nice speed and a lot of little humps - although few of them actually deliver real airtime. Front row ride certainly helped a lot too! Vleermuis is the type of odd wonky ride that RCT3 made me discover. Finally rode it after it spited me last April. Painful braking and rattly trackwork downgrade an otherwise dull experience. Still, I can't help but feel the park should keep this fairly unique coaster (is it considered one or two credits anyway?) for the curiosity. Anubis was another hour queue. The layout started out so well, with a really good launch followed by a very fun airtime moment. It rattles at the start of the Top Hat, but the discomfort was negligible since I sat at the front. However it all went downhill from there. The Dive Loop was fine, but everything after that either was dull, uncomfortable or both! The girl sitting next to me added to my misery with her loud and very high-pitched screams The slow operations on Rox-Flyer, increased my frustrations even further. The employee, who was cheerful and decent tbf, significantly delayed each dispatch by walking across the platform to give us riding procedures in French, English and Dutch. I am usually very supportive for multilinguism, but that was a case where it felt really uneffective. This local Sky Flyer did delivered on its promise of great views and fresh wind however. Rollerstaker's theme is so weird, but it still like it for some reason. I guess I enjoy the eccentricity. Despite its old age, it holds up fairly well for a family coaster! De Grote Golf is your standard Zamperla Disk-O, but enhanced with cool theming! I can see the appeal to parks for this model, as it is supposedly cheap and it provides some spectacular near-misses at both ending spikes of the track. I wish I could tolerate the spinning and back-and-forth movements more though My unconvincing previous experience on Anubis wasn't enough to deter me from a night ride. That lap in the dark amplified everything. The Launch and Top Hat were really exciting and the Dive Loop felt quite snappy, but everything else ended up more brutal and nauseating than before. The oddly-banked turnaround after the Dive Loop provided one of the worst moments of headbanging in my coaster experience - which does say a lot with both Goudurix and El Condor being in my coaster count. A nasty headache resulted from both laps, which only enticed me to leave, even with about an hour left before park closure. The whole day was frustrating. Some of it was definitely my fault - I wish I had planned this visit much better. Plopsaland is heading the right way. The theming is very appealing for the most part and Heidi is an excellent addition. Unfortunately external circumstances exacerbated their noticable flaws. But despite the negativity, I do not regret going there again. I am very grateful for the park allowing me to use my chest-attached GoPro. The inspiring scenery and fun woodie are worth the detour, and I wish that one day I can fully appreciate the parks of this park.
  28. Every month I have to call and pay manually. They claim not to be able to debit a chq account despite seemingly being the only company in Aus that has this issue. Confirmed with the bank that they aren't even receiving DD requests from debit success. Confirmed all numbers are correct etc. Conclusion: debit success are shit and VRTP needs a new payment provider.
  29. No. No. No. No. No. They don't get to get away with not performing general maintenance on attractions just because they resurfaced a fucking footpath. They don't get a free pass on general maintenance just because they're building a 30 million dollar attraction around the corner. If you can't afford to keep the standard of your existing rides up, you have no argument. A new ride is one attraction in a lineup - the new one, despite having the biggest budget that year is in the minority when stood against every other attraction in the park. You can't say "well, we aren't fixing that up because we just blew our wad on a $30million coaster" - because what happens when the $30 million dollar coaster looks like shit in 7 years time, and needs a repaint, and they go "well, we can't afford to do that, but we are building this bright shiny new thing over here.... *look! a distraction!*" I'm sick of our parks building something nice, shiny and new, and then forgetting about it and going and building something else new, and then using the new thing to justify why they can't keep the upkeep on the old things. Its such a shitty, dreamworld thing to do. And then - when someone in the exec finally takes a park walk and goes "fuck, the place really does look like shit" - they go on a spending spree sprucing shit up with paint, and then try to trumpet that as something great, rather than something they should have done 5 years ago. Next year, MW will spruik a repainted ice cream shop and a renovated food outlet as 'new attractions' and a walk over the swamp on the new bridge to Top Golf as a new 'experience' as an excuse for lack of new attractions. We all know why MW won't have new attractions next year, but the spin of "check out this new experience" or "check out our brand new retail \ food outlet" is bullshit. I mean - fuck me but Disney painters touch up things around the park EVERY FUCKING NIGHT. Their electricians used to replace light bulbs when they reached 75% life to ensure there was never a burned out bulb on stage. I don't expect VR to be anywhere near that level, but how hard is it for them to go and replace a few light bulbs that are part of the attraction? How can we - as (particularly detail oriented) guests notice differences in effects between opening and now, and their own maintenance teams can't identify it? (or just can't be bothered?) Whats wrong with the boom gate that it no longer goes up and down and honestly how fucking hard would that be to fix? *deep breath* /rant
  30. It could be argued that in recent times MW have been putting the money into restoring and brining new life to a number of attractions and just the general appearance of the park. Over the past two years they have: - Refurbished WWF - Repainted SE - In the process of refurbishing SDSC - Refurbished a number of facades down Main Street - Completely refurbished the WB Department Store inside and out - Refurbished the courtyard to the right of Ricks Cafe - Removed the Chinatown arch - Removed the under utilised western town and installed a whole new area and ride. - Resurfaced paths -Refurbished toilet facilities Yes, the JL probably hasn't had every effect operating since its original opening, but when I went on it yesterday all the major effects which assist with the story line were working. I'm not trying to make excuses and that the park should just forget about it. Of course a ride should nearly always have its effects working as it is what can make the ride great.
  31. I doubt anything will happen due to Dreamworld and Ardent Leisure being in damage control and the amount of money they have probably lost after TRR incident but would a brand new attraction hurt dreamworld at all? If they were to build a new thrill ride I would like to see a B&M dive coaster (unlikely due to B&M's disney like prices) and put it in ocean parade (behind whitewaterworld and tiger island which would ruin the ambience) or blue lagoon . Since Ariadne said that family rides would be good for the park i think that a spinning mouse or a funtime starflyer would be good since they can provide some mild-moderate thrills. At whitewaterworld I would like to see either a proslide tornadowave or a whitewater west anaconda Again these are just ideas I thought of
  32. Ah, only really new at this Dreamworld needs a B&M, I just thought Dreamworld needed a big ride to combat DC Rivals. so cross out the B&M and replace it with a eurofighter to combat green lantern's steepness
  33. If the accident didn't happen These could be possible additions... THRILL RIDES: dreamworld: B&M dive whitewaterworld: Body Slides FAMILY RIDES: dreamworld: Star Flyer (I don't think it's a thrill ride) Whitewaterworld: Lazy River (back of WhiteWaterWorld)
  34. If the past is anything to go by it will be "Empty Space - The Ride"
  35. Is this ur first post without negative rep? just kidding but it'd be great to see one of those flat rides. Maybe something like 'the vomitron'
  36. I found a video by someone I have seen in the line for the Wild Mouse a lot! It has revealed that the first three rides will be a flying carousel/Wave Swinger, a Wild Cat and a new Big Dipper! The Ranger will also be replaced with a new version! This is the video! The Wild Cat should be similar to this!
