  2. There's a lot of people crowded around that construction site - would be great if they followed the trend for other theme parks and major tourist destinations and put up some faux-facades so it wasn't such an eyesore.

  5. Forgot to post Crates have arrived in the fenced off area along with Q1 promotional material as seen in the photo. Dreamworld material is on the longer part of the fencing.

  6. Honestly i'm getting a little sick of LPS's position on this. Every other theme park needs a DA for construction and relocation of major installs. Why should they be exempt? The courts have ruled on the noise issues, so it should be a simple matter that any objection to the development on the basis of noise or lighting should be promptly disregarded provided the developer has submitted the relevant studies showing that no increase beyond that covered by the case law exists. There are other reasons to object, but likewise - the approving body should have as much regard to them as is relevant based on the previous decisions. As a large property developer, Brookfield should have the knowledge, the expertise, and the cash to go through the process that everyone else does.

  7. Don’t usually comment on this, but -Red section is a hillside (practically on large rock wall) , also a main back road used very frequently -Both blue spot is the emergency evacuation doors for the Stunt Show/Junior School + Staff green room access -Purple is a very popular seating area and just received a makeover -Green is an emergency vehicle access road into the area -Yellow is the only real suitable location also note it maybe an unused area, just remember there is important infrastructure running under the ground (drains, wastage, power)

  9. I really need to proof read.. I just don’t understand if you’re going to go to retheme, why an airport. Okay it will interest the small amount of people who love airports and travelling but the rest (families) are going to think it’s nothing to care too much about because why would the kids want to go to an airport. Just really confused especially considering the whole buzzsaw is going to be rethemed to fit the theme? That’s going to be very intresting aswell.. two completely different themes. One modern, one old. However if it is because of the IRide, surely they can keep that as it’s own standalone precinct

  11. But maybe they did try and for licensing reasons they couldn’t have it. I’m sure there have been dozens of movies and franchises they’ve tried to get for a maze but just haven’t been allowed to

  12. 1. I don't know one Theme park in Australia that does it. 2. DW just made a 90 million dollar lost. 3. The faux-facades examples you show serve a purpose because it’s scaffolding safety wrap. The wrapping would have been there regardless and Disney print on it to make it look nice. 4. Disney run fences like DW too. 5. Scaffolding cost. $2800 for 4 m metre scaffold, 1.3m wide x 2.5m long A. DW would require 63m (I’ll round it down to 50) B. 50/2.5x2800 = $56000. (did I mention that’s a week) If DW required scaffolding with wrap for a long period of time they might do it also.

  13. Many theme parks, from smaller players like Shima Spain Village right up to Disney (not to mention popular tourist destinations and even local shopping centres) will place hoarding up with a wrap or pre-printed mesh around construction works. If Dreamworld and Ardent would like to be known as an international player in theme parks then this is the standard that's expected in order to maintain not only an aesthetic in the park's busiest space but to maintain the sense of escapism that's expected from the title of being a theme park. Here's two Disney examples of both types of cover (because they're the easiest to find.)

  16. Adding on to what @pin142 said about queues, all rides have a capacity so the level of ridership is finite. This means you can't compare rides' popularity based on the number of people who rode it in 1 day. Another factor affecting that method is the amount of people who 're-ride' the ride. You know, those who hop off the ride and immediately re-join the queue. That would cause the data to be exaggerated. A ride's popularity is probably best defined as the amount of people who want to ride it. This is why, apart from the safety concerns, the closure of Thunder River Rapids has & will have such a negative effect on Dreamworld. Unless most people were visiting for a new attraction, that ride was the main reason people visited Dreamworld because they wanted to ride Thunder River Rapids. It was a universal ride. Dreamworld consistently stated prior to 2016, Thunder River Rapids was it's most popular ride (and that opened in 1986!). Rocky Hollow Log Ride was always in 2nd place (and that opened in 1981!) but now clearly takes 1st place. It says a lot about the park that only 1 other ride since 1981 has opened that has proven to be more popular/universal than one of the opening day attractions. Usually, the more universal a ride is, the more popular it is. Simply, theme parks that cater for all with an attraction line-up that aligns with the diversity of their audience is successful. Tower Of Terror II is a high thrill ride so the people who would ride this are usually thrill-seekers, a portion of the market. In short, Tower Of Terror II is not a universal ride as there are a lot of people who would not want to queue for this ride. Tower Of Terror II not being the most popular/universal ride in the park is not a good reason to close it. However, in regards to using Tower Of Terror II's queue length as justification for a future closure, since it's carriage can hold 14 people, if the queue is less than 14 people long when they are loading the ride, then the ride at that point in time isn't currently sustainable to operate. That is, the ride does have “low ridership”. The ride should operate at times when they know there will be at least 14 people in the queue when they load the ride. If there are always fewer than 14 people in the queue when they load the ride then it is definitely time to stop the turbine. However, it would be fine to keep operating it if it became an upcharge and/or with less seating and/or operating at certain hours of the day...or year. So how many people still want to ride Tower Of Terror II?

  23. Yeah I checked earlier and had no luck (Sorry!) It was only one pic of it, but from what I remember, it was basically just a 3D version of whatever the 2D facade was. None the less I still think it looked snazzy but I’ll let you be the judge haha.
