It’s a shame these guys aren’t thinking about the poor sharks who are also being exploited. Come on Justice for Captives, let’s do something about the sharks!🤫2 points

They don't provide sufficient info for an exact amount so I'll have to make a bunch of assumptions. Theme Parks EBITDA was $34,725k. Skypoint was about 9% of Revenue, so let's drop EBITDA by 9% to $31,600k. Corporate costs ($15,144k) are given as a group total. For simplicity let's use a % of Revenue (in this case 2.2%). Theme Parks Revenue was $107,582k, so * 0.91 * 0.022 = $2,154k. Revised EBITDA $29,446k. On the same group basis, Depreciation was 6.9% of Revenue. So $107,582k * 0.91 * 0.069 = $6,755k. EBIT therefore $22,691k. Doing the same with Finance Costs, was also about 2.2% of Revenue. So take off another $2,154k, for a NPBT of $20,537k. There's a bunch of extraordinary items and it's difficult to establish which pertain to Dreamworld. So we'll run with a pre-exceptional figure. For tax a simple calc would be 30%, so $20,537k * 0.7 = NPAT $14,376k. Or using % of Revenue again, NPAT $19.3m. So best guess, $14m to $20m, more than half what Skeeta said. Depreciation and Finance Costs are the big items that can vary the figure significantly. But either way, it's considerably less than $34.7m, let alone $43.0m. Should also point out Theme Parks EBITDA "only" increased 8.5% on the prior year. You could also assume that profits were inflated at Dreamworld because they were underfunding maintenance of rides...1 point

Wow don’t recall that ever happening (all dates sold out with still a week to run). Glad I got mine in for this Thursday1 point

They were running 2 trains on supermn at the start of the night. So I asmume they were running two trains all night. Even today when most rides were a walk on they were running two trains.1 point

They're not tiki heads, they're static monster props. If you look to your left, you'll notice one of them is holding Scoobys collar. I know Scooby is still in there in his suit of armour and the one that used to stand next to the mirror is at the tiki bar after you disembark the ride but I don't recall seeing him in the room with the disco ball.1 point

I marked the post with spoilers for those who wanted a surprise experience. I expect those people wanting a surprise wouldn’t be on this thread anyway.1 point

Dude 2 wrongs don't make a right, I thought you were better than that Push. What you said was extremely rude and you should apologize. Keeping on topic, thanks for the photos Push (see, being nice wasn't that hard!) whilst the ride appears to be coming together, and we have all shared our opinions on the outside, its the experience that counts, and I hope they have got it just right. Fingers crossed.1 point

Well if that's what Liz considers rude she'd better stay away from this forum. It gets a whole lot more rude than that!1 point

It's a ride that millions of people have already been on, there's no need to be butt-hurt about a few extra projection screens, especially when it's marked as spoilers.1 point

Also just noticed that the kids riding are dressed as Velma, Shaggy, Fred and Daphne. A nice touch from the marketing team 😜.1 point

For people who have ridden it now... Has this refurb made the ride better (before theming was removed) or worse? Im glad they’ve mostly replaced what was there and tried to improve on it with screens. But the fact there is no more Scooby at all, and the videos are poor quality, make this ride come across something that was budget, when in reality this ride was world class. Hopefully they’ve had some issues (much like they did with WWF effects when it reopened, but really they should not be having these issues. If the ride isn’t ready, don’t open it until it is), and the these lighting and screen visual issues are resolved soon1 point

The Scenic Railway has a rather simple layout and this footage shows a more complex layout.1 point

Why are all the reviews so vague? "Oh it's mostly the old ride with a few new things". Yeah we knew that....1 point
-
The ride has returned most of the old theming with a few video screens with the monsters from the movie coming for you, axes are still there, lift has screens on it, disco room mostly dark still, loud music and couple of added extra sections the end of room is completely new set pieces. A little shocked to see most of the old theming that was removed was brought back still great ride wait time for those coming to it now over 1hr huge Line up into over flow1 point
