  1. I don’t want covid discussions to take over topics, this is the one place amongst many forums I visit where either side of the covid/vaccine/response arguments haven’t taken over entirely from the regular conversations. my final comment on it all is that I think the govt needs to secure enough vaccines that everyone in the community who wants it can get easy access to it, the backlog is fulfilled, and then we open up the country, no more lockdowns, masks etc, and people then take accountability for their own health decisions, risks, chances of exposure. the UK has moved to that model, and it’s the only way the economy can start being repairing.
  2. Where is the rule that says you cant have 3 triple launch coasters in the same park? The Premier rides Skyrocket II might not be the best choice for another coaster but its light years from what Buzzsaw is now and if Dreamworld were to announce one of these as a direct replacement then i think we would all be pretty happy with that option. This. ☝️ The real issue with this announcement is that Dreamworld have once again announced the removal of an attraction without any plans for direct replacement. Given that this will be the 6th major loss of ride/attraction in just over 24 months Dreamworld need to have a plan for replacement and they need to communicate this to the public. Already, following this announcement, the social media was filled with comments such as "this park keeps removing attractions", this park is not what it used to be" , "there is no value in this park anymore". They simply fill the pages and this sort of negative perception can only be turned around with a positive replacement announcement plans. If they don't , they run the real risk of losing the public altogether, who will only see what is being removed, and not the big picture of an overhaul of the park.
  3. We need to get the situation to be like the Flu situation. Sure, we have a bit of sickness every year but vaccinations and general hygiene make it not a massive threat to just go outside and be in groups of people.
  4. What a flop of a ride. Through and through disaster. A shit ride bought from a 3rd tier manufacturer (maybe 2nd tier if you want to be generous) that was purchased because it was the cheapest option for a ride. Ran into the ground for its entire life and eventually aged into a shithouse bone shaker. Frequently in and out of closure for about half of its time at DW and outlived by a coaster three times its age. Not to mention, it ran for only 9 years before Ardent gave up, an embarrassment considering literal prototype coasters have operated for twice as long before closing. This is why you invest in high quality attractions and maintain them properly, rather than going for quite literally the cheapest possible option. Let Buzzsaw serve as a warning to our parks wanting to cheap out on attractions and maintenance as it is the prime example of what happens when operators don't care about their parks.
  5. Dreamworld won’t be gone for good. Give it 5-7 years and it will be heading towards becoming what it used to be.
  6. I don't think this is any great loss to Dreamworld as a whole considering the far more important and impressive rides they seemingly flushed down the drain with even less warning and fan-fare than they did give this one. I rode this "roller coaster" twice and that was enough for a lifetime. Unlike some people here I don't think this is going to erode any of the public's image of the park (the general public doesn't know/care how long a ride has been in a park, how much it cost to build or maintain, etc. they just care if something good is going away, and by most accounts it won't be missed). But on the other hand, I don't think the addition of Steel Taipan and some new carriages for the Railway is going to put Dreamworld back on top of their game. The park is at the very least a couple solid flat rides, a substantial water ride and a record-breaking ~something~ away from even being close to what they were in their heyday. TL;DR, Dreamworld decided to get rid of something unpopular for a change rather than the things they should have fought to keep and it's not going to change much in the grand scheme of things.
  7. Caprio batflyers can fuck off. To date it is the only coaster type I have ever stalled on. My only 0/10 coaster.
  8. as much as they look like a great ride, i don’t think it would be smart placing a triple launch coaster next to another triple launch coaster a couple years apart from each-other…
  9. I dont agree on that one. The park has plenty of smaller rides, that's mostly what it was getting prior to Sky Voyager right? Ocean parade and Dreamworks are both solid flat ride precincts, so adding another flat ride precinct wont add value or depth to the lineup. At this point I think a water ride is the most urgent, and then say a dark ride, and another coaster.
  10. 1 point
Lockdown and not going to parks has gotten me rather bored so I've been building an Epcot-style park as a PLC project. I might share some more photos as I keep working on this if interested!
  11. It's not even optics, it's that the park is really thread bare right now; they kind of need the filler. I assume it's one of those things where it's end of life, costs a ton to maintain, isn't popular and is closed a fair chunk of the time. I'm not surprised (or even sad) it's going, but I'd have thought string it out for a yeah and close it when you add a new flat ride or something cheap just to keep the park feeling full in the meantime.
  12. Since 2016 the park has closed: River Rapids, Log Ride, Flowrider, Wipeout, TOT, Big Red Car, Cinema, Zombie Evilution, Brocks Garage, Hop and Hoot and now BuzzSaw. Some of those were much less of a loss than others, but still, that’s a long list of attractions to close. Since then they’ve got SkyVoyager, soon Steel Taipan and they utilise the Exhbition centre quite often too.
  13. We all knew this day was coming though right. I think a lot of us saw Buzzsaw as a bad investment when it was announced a decade ago. In other news the Dreamworld train is getting an upgrade
  14. What in the fuck does 'Given the ride's proximity' mean?
  15. I want to believe it’s an out-of-season April fools joke because this is so utterly ridiculous. I received this email aswell. also what expansions can they do there, they can’t add another flat ride there. i wouldn’t be surprised if it was to do with the safety of the ride. They did that with TOT2, in all over the last 3 years they have removed a total of 4 rides the last 3 where justified, operating for 20+ years for a ride is hard to do unless there is extended maintenance to a ride, especially in the Australian heat. Buzzsaw has been operating for 9 years, I can see that the support structure is close to the tail of taipan. But I’m just shocked, the downfall is here and it is taking its brutal path…
  16. Advice for the haters - push it, push it real good.
  17. That's the second worst thing to happen to a DW water ride conveyor
  18. In B4 people hoping it's there to knock down MDMC.
  19. I give Dreamworld another 5-7 years before it's gone for good
