  1. This has been a thing since basically forever. From my point of view, once something has been announced broadly to staff then it's fair game. If you really care about stuff not getting out, you don't release it to hundreds of people. Mostly, we don't do the NDA chest thumping here once it's at that point. I 100% guarantee you that once front line staff know, competitors know. There's no point acting like it's some big commercial secret. The other thing is that the people who know, mostly dont need to impress everyone with what they know. I would guarantee you that there are heaps of people who know, but they don't feel the need to post it to the forums for internet brownie points. There's an old saying; 'Those who know the least, know it the loudest', and I think that's really true with this. Oh you know 1 thing? Cool, so does everyone else! I think the general feeling isn't one of keeping secrets, but it's respect for the person who told you to not go spreading it everywhere. I think that's why some people get their noses out of joint when someone comes in and teases something. It's like 'We all know that, be more respectful' and bring up nonsense about NDAs and whatnot to justify it. Really though, there aren't any secrets, most people who have been here a long time know what all the parks are doing a long way out. Sometimes it makes things hard because you want to say what's up but you can't. Parkz got slammed for being too negative a couple of years ago about DW's future, listing Tot, Wipeout Buzzsaw and Log Ride as rides that will probably close in the next few years. Some of that was information sourced from a variety of industry and inside sources, but it was also quite important contextually to give the full picture and provide accurate commentary. On the forums it's the same, you can't have a real conversation when you know stuff without taking stuff into account. Broadly though, we as a group (i mean EVERYONE on here, not just the admins) get it right. Some people's lines are further than others, but I've not seen anyone have a full on dump everything they know online moment. Most people moderate themselves a bit and are respectful to their sources. The only thing I think we get wrong as a group, is we tend to play the person, not the issue. People love to name drop, and talk shit about management by name, and TBH I think that's worse than hinting that you know stuff. "This person mismanaged SW" "This person wrote a crap show" "This person botched the install of Sccoby Doo next Gen" isn't needed. SW has been mismanaged, that show is crappy, next Gen, particualy when it went in, was beyond a joke is saying the same thing, but isn't making it personal. I'm tempted to have that being a rule that we don't mention staff or management by name so you don't get the childish name calling and low key bragging that you get. Also put more effort into not being triggered by people obviously trolling, and don't be the NDA police. Peace!
  2. That's exactly what I mean. The fun is in the speculation, but coming on here and saying "My dad's ex-wife's dog's previous-owner's pizza man who once drove to Movie World says that the replacement will definitely feature the letter 'E' in the title" is kind of annoying? I'm just not a huge fan of the charades that comes from telling people you know something but not saying what you know. If its meant to be a secret then keep it as such.
  3. Please explain what is world class about vortex?
  4. Disney Parks' forums if you weren't allowed to mention Bob Chapek by name
  5. I've finally figured out what "World Class" means to Australian theme parks, a ride that had classmates all around the world that recieve almost identical results to them!
  6. Who gives a shit? You're not a party to either side of the NDA, so it's not up to you to enforce it. Kindly stfu and quit gate-keeping. If they want to talk and/or believe they can then that's on them and we are the beneficiaries.
  7. In this instance however, Renae is sharing accurate info. If it wasn't, Village would not have gone out of their way to share and show their employees at the staff-only event a couple months/weeks ago. Village also would not have shown the employees the basic design, looks and/or features of the new hotel as well.
  8. As an ex ride operator for VRTP I very much doubt that the operations team (front line) would know what rides are coming to the park more than a year before they are built. For example, Green Lantern opened December 2011, staff were not told what ride was coming until about 5 months before it opened. Lethal's retheme to Arkham, staff were not told about it until AFTER lethal had closed and the work was already beginning. Justice League opened September 2012, operations staff were not told what the ride was until around June 2012 what it was, and that was after construction had commenced and opening crew's for the ride were chosen. Sorry, but based on my knowledge of how the park does things (and many people on these forums can vouch for me) I very much doubt what your friend is telling you is accurate.
  9. Are you staff? Don’t go breaking NDA’s by being the messenger..
  10. Nobody has been name calling and you might want to ask the person you are talking about here, to change his user name to Park Management.🤪 Anyway, I have no problem if Parkz wants to change the rules on the trot but let be noted it has always been the way of Parkz. Even from the very top. “It's laughable how DeborahThomas was able to throw the Disneyland buzzword out there and distract people while saying exactly what yesterday's ASX release said. It is a transparently obvious attempt at damage control....................
  11. You forgot to mention, there was no bubbles in @jozbeer. 🤕
  12. " - Morgan from Village Roadshow Theme Parks." Morgan Hypercoaster Confirmed!!!😉
  13. Yet again, another comment of the day going under appreciated by many.
  14. So Renae has shared information that she is legally allowed to disclose, right? The KEY points and the rest of the details that she isn't (and can't) tell you will all be revealed in the announcement coming soon... No need to shine a light in the sky for someone to tell you what those details are, you just need to be a little patient...
  15. Both the major parks have gone the way of a Maccas version of a theme park. Yes, it might be profitable, but it never leaves you satisfied and sometimes it gives you gas. It feels like Village is going down the slippery slope of DW with their current management. The state Bikash left SW in was crazy. I have never seen so many bad reviews thrown at a theme park in such a short time.
  16. 100% agreed - I think, simply put - as noted by imagineers in the case of Bermuda Triangle, we used to make really good shit for a lot less than anyone else. But during the GFC we traded passionate, skilled in-house creative for cost-savings and risk aversion, and we're yet to get the balance right. And finding that balance will require chairmen and CEO's who want to act less like Walt Disney (micro-managing decision making at every level) and more like Bob Iger (supporting and allowing space for professionals to flourish).
  17. Great points and I absolutely agree with everything you say here, but in a way I feel it only shows further that locally our parks have no idea when it comes to rich, themed experiences. Integration, story, execution, etc. were all fumbled with the project and those can't just be simply palmed off. I still have no idea why they made some decisions like the facade when they could have just as easily made it look like a Victorian airline hanger that would fit the land and themed it to the early days of flight in Australia that leads into what the current film, but instead we got a modern airport baggage claim facility? I like Sky Voyager - It's a fun, solid experience once you actually get to riding it but nothing about the themed experience is inspiring. I've said it before but if our parks really want to move forward then they need to stop competing domestically and start having their eyes set on the world stage. A lot of people regard the early days of Movie World as being the peak of themed entertainment in Australia and it makes sense because it was designed by C. V. Wood who was the chief developer of Disneyland. Thanks to Disney getting trigger happy with their layoffs there is now a ton of really experienced designers, engineers and artists who are floating around waiting for their next opportunity and if one of our parks wants to get the leg up they should be scooping up that talent, or at least embracing the already brilliant creative minds that exist within Australia instead of executives feeling like each project is their personal clay pot that they need to mould. On that note, I think the painted concrete is nice. Don't @ me.
  18. Not mine but agreed for a train reveal (?) it's pretty cool - really dig those kind of shots where they've gone to the effort of lighting small details (like the spinning wheel) which all add up. It'll be a shame if those eyes don't light up though - I kind of half expected them to at the end there. As I said before though, given my longstanding history with the park (and its ruinous fan-pages which trade mate's private conversations for influence) it'd be in bad taste to be openly critical at this point. That being said, there's a lot to like in this latest clip, so kudos to Dreamworld (and whichever agency they paid top dollar to do it). I'd say the lukewarm reception of Sky Voyager was an end to end failure that's been well documented on Parkz - from endless delays, to different messaging half way through, to the uninspired, precinct destroying facade, to the Brisbane Technology Park queue line - the list goes on. The ride itself is really solid - not Soarin' good, but having seen a lot of Brogent's (and others) ride films, we definitely got something that's better than 90% of what's out there. Sadly the sum of Sky Voyager's parts don't make it a word of mouth worthy attraction, which is what flying theatres rely on to generate more gate and ROI. There were better and cheaper ways to execute that ride from the marketing ride through to the experience, and I pray to any/all dieties that it's failure doesn't ruin the future of dark rides in this country. Stuff like ETF's Mystic Mover or Vekoma's Madhouse are easy wins for the first park that gets them - the big challenge however will be getting executives out of the creative phase and letting creatives be creative so we can start having some Bermuda Triangle style executions and not Sky Voyager style executions.
  19. That's it. I have had enough with all these new rides. All I want is a new seating area.
  20. For immediate release to the public: Movie World will have a new ride, it will have a colour and you can ride that ride. Coming Soon™
  21. Ask park management what makes it world class, not my words!
  22. (if this is true) i could see it being an S&S axis coaster possibly themed to Poison ivy? they could keep the whole theme of the area which saves cost and could create a storyline about how she broke out of her cell and took over the asylum? just an idea😌
  23. I think it might just open in the middle of the day today unannounced like what happened with the smiler at Alton towers
  24. Why haven’t dreamworld said anything about it opening today. They haven’t even mentioned it since they announced the refurb at least sky voyager was constantly mentioned
