🤣 it's funny you think that: -> they spend more than a moment chucking in a cheeky dig that has very little direct cost associated with it -> that this moment, or the associated minimal cost of having a signwriter paint a few words on a board that they were going to do anyway would make a real difference in the cost to operate a waterpark in the offseason. It's likely the signboard would have existed anyway, and they had to put thought into what to write on it anyway, so the fact they settled on a good natured dig at their competitor is zero additional cost or effort - unlike operating a water park at a loss.

Yep no doubt - same reason the 'gate' price is always $10 more than buying online.

If you're going to do metal detectors, you can't do them "as guests board". Old mate with a belt buckle, or a metal plate in his head is going to hold up the line while they check and double check that it's not just his loose change in his pocket. Metal detectors need to either be at the entrance to the queue (Battlestar Galactica), with lockers prior to queueing, or at a mid point prior to the final load queue (flying dinosaur). This will likely turn the attraction from a capacity machine into a hobbled horse.

VRTP Ticketing Update Late 2025
At least the tiered day ticket pricing goes some ways towards compensating folk who visit in the off season and find half the park is closed. Interestingly, buying a ticket same day is $10 more than buying it in advance as today's price is $109 and the rest of the month is only $99. From December 1 the $109 becomes the cheapest rate, jumping to $119 from the 13th of December (charging more once school breaks seems to indicate that the park would be busier once kids are out of school, eh @New display name?) The following week it jumps again to $129 on the 20th of December, and then $139 from Boxing day. It stays at $139 through most of January, dropping to $129 for the final week of holidays (19th to Australia day) and then back to $119 from the day school goes back. Interestingly - the price doesn't go back to $99 - it stays at $109 from that point on until the end of published pricing on March 31st. We will have to wait an see what they do with Easter pricing when that gets released. Honestly the tiered pricing might have helped alleviate the crowd pressures over the peak seasons (especially if they blocked out some AP tiers during the busiest times) making it worth the while for those who stump up the extra cash, but given the price of a 5 day multipark pass is only $169 - nobody is buying the day pass and this entire exercise is a complete waste of time.

Dreamworld - Something big is coming
If they're keeping it in the events centre, then they need to fast track the removal of Gold Coaster so that end of the park can be entirely cut off. Closing it down for months is ridiculous. I hadn't seen the stats on the show, so had no idea how successful it was. I think it's too early to call it a 'massive success' as the show is only 10 days in. Ratings for 'new' shows tend to spike at the beginning while everyone watches to figure out whether it's worth continuing to watch. The real success will be how many people tune into the Finale. The house will definitely be open for tours after the season. It's one of the biggest plums Dreamworld gets for hosting the show and increases park attendance overall. I think it's a given that they'll figure out a more permanent solution for live shows if they plan to continue \ renew for multiple seasons.

Infinity Planet theme park, entertainment precinct proposed for Elimbah, north of Brisbane
The dichotomy of these two comments is only exacerbated by the fact that they were one after the other in your reply As the old saying goes 'if you build it, they will come' You're right about this for sure. I think they've pitched "theme park" as a way to get locals on board given SEQ's reputation for parks. The issue on the sunshine coast is that everything is so far away from each other. Australia Zoo, Aussie World, the Aquarium, the Ginger Factory - they're all decently isolated from each other and that makes trekking around the sunshine coast to visit them all an arduous task. And only one of those is located right on the highway to make it convenient. The GC's major parks are either co-located, placed right on the highway, or located adjacent to a large population centre that hosts many accommodation options within a few minutes of the facilities. All of the things the sunshine coast does not have. I know this proposal is within Moreton Bay Regional - but it is essentially the gateway to the sunshine coast and would add value to that region. I daresay they're not experts in park building but if they get approval, they'd be wise to engage someone with experience who will no doubt steer us away from 1980s Vekoma.

That'd be a first. Unfortunately human nature is to take the most efficient route which means most people heading for the ride entrance won't actually see it as they are practically underneath the sign the whole time It's undeniably a choice, I believe it to be the wrong one. I think you meant "diminishes" - and I disagree. It is collectively a themed 'land' however you can just as easily exit riders out of the attraction to the rear so that they experience the Villains area after riding. At any rate, this discussion was entirely about a billboard facing the wrong way in an AI generated theme park that is never going to be built, and the only reason Doomsday is topical is because it had a similar bridge facing what, in many people's opinion, is the wrong way. Are you arguing that the AI slop billboard of random inspirational words is facing the correct way? Because that's the point being made.

See... I wanted to try and find a picture of a billboard that was directly behind a tall building so nobody except the people in the building could see it, but nobody is that stupid to build a billboard behind a building. The best viewing angle for the doomsday bridge is the one seen in the Parkz photo above, which is not generally at the height most guests will ever get to see. Because people are navigating around a corner to enter the queue, they're typically looking down, and those not navigating to the ride queue are facing away from the sign because they're looking at the interactive features in and around the precinct. Yes, the ride name sign \ bridge should be over the entrance to the ride queue. But the ride queue should not be accessed from the back. Like I already said... it's facing the wrong way. And billboards shouldn't face into a building - it defeats their purpose. Plus, this isn't a bridge. this is just random AI slop YOႱИƎ ƎVAH ИUꟻ
