Dreamworld / WWW Update
That's disgusting. They should absolutely be running the train during these works. If the train isn't running, then they should built temporary fence, or crowd barriers along the train line to allow people to bypass the demolition works. Hell - even if they pulled out the shunting loco, and just ran it as a shuttle to and from central and rocky hollow (contra-flow) it'd be better.

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster refurb
I wouldn't imagine the trains have changed, given the marketing imagery already shown. Whilst the ride may operate the same as it has always done, there is always the likelihood that there are PLCs or other triggers to set off certain effects, projections etc that need to be tested. The only real way to test this is to run the trains through and see if the trigger sets off at the correct time for the ride vehicle. It means they're close, but not as close as you might think - as any timing errors might take a while to rectify.

Clayton should just stick to posting inappropriate angles of dancers and performers and leave the park planning to someone with a brain (and a memory).

That's just called good marketing. A great way to get people excited about it, and then they're more likely to renew their pass...

Luna Park Sydney's expansion
I'm not so sure the space is suitable. Here are the three spaces outlined: Looks ok, doesn't it? Measurements of those spaces are shown here: Current: Ferris Wheel: Rotor: While the overall land area is about comparable, you can see the rotor space infringes on the rotor building. While this could be worked around, its still quite a tight space to work in. The next issue you have is what is behind that space. The back of house area behind the rotor is clearly used frequently - even by Jobe's own picture showing the gate being used at the time. Hair raiser in this position would completely block that space, which - i would suggest - is used for vehicular access into the park (perhaps for street sweeping vehicles etc). It may not be that easy to relocate those services to another place in the park either. Next to the ferris wheel is a much more suitable spot - however, i'm not sure its a good idea. The wheel has great, unobstructed views for much of the wheel. Although the tower is narrow, and doesn't obstruct much, it would ruin those picturesque lavender bay photos many visitors to the park like to take whilst on board. I'm certain Hair Raiser was put where it was for good reason, and I can't see much of a good reason to move it, especially to a spot next to the wheel. Whilst I understand the desire to try to 'fit things in', the space it currently occupies couldn't take an attraction much bigger than hair raiser anyway - due to the boardwalk access, and dining areas adjoining the nearby service areas. Putting a bigger ride into Hair Raiser's place would ultimately see more dining space occupying the midway, making it even harder to negotiate in peak times (and probably breaching the midway width rules recently established).

Coaster - looks like they've taken inspiration from the bug run at Aussie World. Meanwhile, someone should be showing Dreamworld this is how you do a kiddie ferris wheel - not with a crapshack of hot-house inducing perspex.

Gumbuya World New Ride Announcement
One has to assume it is the travelling Rebel. They've called it Rebel World, probably as a tie-in to the park's "world" set up. Ironically, an up and comer books a traveller for a while - we're over the moon for what it means for the park's future. Meanwhile, Sea World goes and books a traveller for a while - and we're decrying the end of the theme park... lol.

Dreamworld the train that couldn't drops Dark Ride?????????????????????
Actually, they also have 'Snakes in the wild'. But you won't find it on the map - as they literally just show up practically anywhere in the park. No showtimes either. Just a matter of luck... if you get really lucky, you can get a free lifetime* snake tattoo from the resident red bellied tattooist. There are a few conditions: no choice of design. two small dots are all you get. no charge for the tattoo work, but out of state residents are liable for any ambulance costs. Dreamworld First Aid will also provide one free compression bandage. Lifetime guarantee on tattoo only applies where medical assistance is not sought. Where ambulance \ hospital \ antivenin is administered, lifetime guarantee is voided.

The expense is booked in 1H FY19 - July to December 2018. That doesn't mean finished. That could just mean they've booked the entire project cost. Clearly they've started something, given the fencing and others, so no doubt they'd have had to drop a deposit and probably some progress payments. it may make their end of year outlook better if the whole cost is booked in 1H? I don't know. That doesn't confirm anything about completion dates, but yes, I should think 6-8 months for a september opening to open the attraction at the beginning of the 'its warm enough to go swimming again' season, rather than halfway through the 'swim' season makes a lot of sense to me. Huh?- WWW expansion 2018
- MW Fast Track price dropped to $99
Because the model is different. A person visiting for a single day is going to spend around $150 on entry, food and merch. Plussing their day with extra experiences at an upcharge is a way to get as much money out of them as you can - and a fastpass option ensures they get everything done that they want to do. You immediately turn that $150 spend into $250 - possibly more since they don't spend half their day waiting in lines, so they might get extra things done that also have an upcharge. A season passholder (as we all have heard on these forums) pays their annual fee, and very little else on a regular basis. They aren't going to spend $100 on a fast track every time they visit (some of them were spending $50 when the fast track was that cheap), but the idea is to keep them coming back. They'll spend something on most visits unless they really plan for it - for example, we will frequently make a spur of the moment weekend trip to the park maybe once a month or so. Inevitably, we'll forget our refillable cup\bottle thing, so we get another one. So a refill cup x 12 months = more than the annual pass price - they're getting much the same money out of me, but in smaller lots over a longer time. We might not do it every time, but we might catch a whiff of that fresh popcorn in the warmer and decide to get a cup while we watch a show. It might be hot and we decide to treat ourselves with an ice cream or a slushee. There might be a particularly awesome ride photo that we'll decide to get, every few visits we might get a backwards wristband. I think i've spent about $80 on backwards seats for my group - spending that much on backwards seats in a day is a little cray. Overall the annual passholder spends more money, over a longer period on little things, but they still feel they are getting value from the multiple trips per year that they make.- MW Fast Track price dropped to $99

You'll also need to specify which state - as different states use the same name for different measures in some cases (see pint, vs. imperial pint) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_glassware#Australian_measures I've made no claim to be a moderator, and never said I was a forum legend either - i said i was quoting one ("in the words of..."). I'm quite ok for you to disagree with me, and to have a different point of view, that's quite ok. My original response was to Tim (and perhaps that's why you're being so defensive as you have in the past), where I addressed his points on Cedar. He mentioned USS, I didn't see fit to address it separately as I felt the Cedar point point was adequate. You'll notice @aaronm was pointed to my post and also chose to disagree. You don't see me replying to him, do you? Tim's original post stated the MW system was a joke. Your reply stated it was price gouging, and claimed USS was a fair comparison. All i've done is challenge your gouging claim, and provide explanation for why no fair comparison could be made. You've then gone on to say that you've "never been tempted" at MW, yet you have used the USS system 'on the odd occasion' - this in and of itself demonstrates why the comparison was a poor one. As for pass prices, the adult AW pass isn't much more than the east coast. And you get earlybird pricing too. Yes, its a different business model, but it's also a different MARKET. A concept you continue to struggle to comprehend. I'm all for alternative \ opposing viewpoints, but if your rationale is flawed, it's likely going to be challenged. By all means a rational and well thought out point of view is welcome. Sometimes i'm even convinced the other way after hearing such points of view. But when every part of your point of view has been challenged and found wanting, you don't just get to ignore all the valid points and pretend like you're the victim. My beer's done. i'm out.- MW Fast Track price dropped to $99
This just in folks... businesses should reduce their prices and only charge for what it cost them to provide the service, and not a penny more. Train services will be capped at 10 passengers maximum per carriage, because I am personally more comfortable if there are less people on the train, and they are providing a service so i'm the customer and that means i'm right. Unfortunately my reaction to people who have demonstrated they can't read is to be insulting. I made a very thoughtful, researched post explaining the comparison to Cedar and MW can't be made, for very clear reasons. I even pointed out why the pricepoint isn't just about money, it's about the supply and demand aspect to make in less attractive to locals gaming the system. I would have hoped you would have read it - many people did and indicated their approval or agreement with it, which is why it got a nice orange box around it. Several other people then either agreed, endorsed, or elaborated further, and your reply was 'i still don't get supply and demand, the park is price gouging, why don't they just cap the numbers' You claimed the USS example was still apt, I've explained why it isn't. Now, first, although you didn't explicitly say it, your post reads that you're still advocating the price should be lower. Your more recent reply also says they should cap it lower and create goodwill for regular customers. This just shows me you still don't get it. A paid fast track should not be something that "Regular customers" take advantage of. Unless it's a disney fast pass style system where EVERYONE has access to it, it shouldn't be "Cheap as chips" that regulars can do it just to avoid lines and ride like crazy. If that's whats happening in Perth, maybe Adventure World need to reconsider their price point. Simply capping the numbers lower, at a lower price point would simply result in more disappointed visitors - as the locals that know and game the system would snap all the fast tracks up leaving even less for the once in a lifetime visitors. As Rappa said - id you don't like it don't buy it. By the sounds of things you don't when you visit anyway, so you're complaining about something that doesn't even affect you anyway. Clearly there's something in the water on the west coast. Everything has been said that can be said. In the words of a Forum Legend.... get a grip old son.- The Off Topic Topic
I count 5 on this current page alone. Mine lapsed a while back, and while I had every intention of renewing, I just kept forgetting (My wallet is rarely nearby when I log on to parkz.) I do wish there was an auto renewal option. I disagree. With the accelerometers in smartphones being able to be used to accurately measure things using a camera, and act as a spirit level, among other things, I don't think it would be hard to create a 3D VR world that you are able to spatially move around inside of, without being restricted to a single track line. Hell - VR could do this in the early 90's... so its not that far fetched given the 3D video style implementation on coasters so far... - WWW expansion 2018
