  1. Providing they theme it as well as the original ride (“claw” supports and all), this sounds great.
  2. Hardly an apples for apples comparison, given the perilous financial position of the park and other events happening over that period.
  3. On those measures I'm surprised that the fountain in the entry plaza isn't counted as an attraction, unless it's under maintenance?
  4. I find it hilarious that anyone here is defending a park operating with >50% of its major rides out of action, what a joke of an operation Movie World has become. The fact that the park reportedly defends the poor customer experience as being "in line with our requirements" is laughably tone deaf and contemptuous. It's unfortunate that most guests don't find this out until they've wasted their money on admission. No refunds, moose out front should've told ya!
  5. Looks great. One day they'll have some capex to redo the Sky Voyager facade and there will be much rejoicing from enthusiasts.
  6. I'm not sure your suggestion is workable, but they'd almost certainly make more money with some sort of dynamic pricing model. If the row isn't occupied 80% of the time the park is charging too much, there's no profit to be made on empty seats!
  7. We had a slightly damp day at Happy Valley Shanghai back in 2016, coasters operated as normal in light rain. Heavy rain or lightning might be a different story. But in general they seemed more like the European parks than say, Japan (where a light sprinkle is often enough to pause operations).
  8. Some great advice shared already, outside of Disney/Universal I'd recommend adding at least one or two smaller parks. In Tokyo: - Yomiuriland has some wonderfully unique attractions (noodle cup rapids is my personal favourite) - Tokyo Dome City has the excellent Steel Dolphin - Hanayashiki is peak "weird Japan park" None of these would necessarily use a full day either. There's also Fuji-Q with its infamously slow operations, I would try to combine this with a visit to Mount Fuji if you're going to bother. A day trip from Tokyo is possible but personally next time I'll be trying to spend at least one night up there. Other random parks to consider: - Nagashima Spa Land, Japan's answer to Cedar Point - Greenland, quite big with a healthy dose of oddball, weird and interesting rides - Parque Espana, takes some getting to but well worth the effort. You may even end up as "King of the Parade" (as happened to my friend, hilarious!) - Suzuka Circuit, with the famous "scream and it goes faster" coaster - Nasu Highland, with a spaghetti bowl of coasters straight out of Rollercoaster Tycoon
  9. Would reduce operational costs, I imagine that’s important to VRTP execs right now.
  10. Missed school holidays, might as well aim for July now.
  11. Is anyone else old enough for the name to remind them of reading Disney Adventures magazine as a kid?
  12. Almost announced an announcement there, so exciting.
  13. All good suggestions which require the park to do more than the absolute bare minimum which is sadly beyond their capability these days.
  14. A new dining experience could mean anything from a second hot dog stand to reopening Rick’s Cafe. Dreamworld is miles ahead in decent, reasonably priced food options these days, definitely an opportunity for MW to close a gap here.
  15. Park management clearly spent about 45 seconds figuring out this theming. Which is interesting when you consider that’s also about the length of the ride cycle once it opens.
  16. Never rode it with the loop, but that top hat was something else. Probably the most violent vertical airtime I can remember. The launch was incredible though, shame to see it go.
  17. After the initial opening, I think ridership will be similar to Batwing: capacity is low so there will generally be at least a small wait but the queue won't ever be overly long. People will use the ride to fill their day, or when Superman is too busy.
  18. Another copy-paste statement trying to deflect how poorly the park is run in the name of “safety” and gaslight their guests into feeling reckless for complaining. Plenty of other theme parks around the world manage to keep the majority of rides open for their guests (including WBMW pre-2020), it’s Movie World that is the outlier. IMO the park deserves every negative review it gets, charging full price when so many attractions are unavailable. I feel terrible for the poor Guest Services staff who are no doubt fielding the same complaints daily at the moment.
  19. If they need to cut costs, I'd rather the parks closed midweek during the off-peak season rather than have these ridiculously long maintenance periods. VRTP could easily stagger its opening times so at least one park was available each day, for example: - Movie World open Thursday-Monday, closed Tue/Wed - Sea World open Friday-Tuesday, closed Wed/Thu - Wet'n'Wild open Wednesday-Sunday, closed Mon/Tue
  20. It's a weak marketing point to begin with, VRTP probably focus test these things to death but I struggle to accept that that's the best line they came up with to promote the ride.
  21. It's funny how half a dozen cable ties could make so much difference.
  22. This must be the slowest ride install of all time. I assume they have one guy doing it, and he only works when the moon is in a waning gibbous phase.
  23. One thing Disney in particular seem to be building into their rides is a "B mode" - a backup for when a primary effect isn't working. A notable example is the RoTR Kylo Ren animatronic being hidden behind a wall when it's broken, replaced by Kylo appearing "outside" (via some windows/screens) in his ship. So rather than an effect appearing obviously broken the ride still seems relatively complete. Given that VRTP have aspirations to be like Disney, hopefully they're paying attention and incorporate something similar in these new rides, where it makes sense.
