  1. Now has. Didn’t then. So no. if I have a mate doing it tough so shout him a night out, and then 2 years later he has a great job and surplus funds, I don’t expect him to pay me back.
  2. No one is determining if they’ll visit a a theme park or not based on if the Qld govt (or DW if they have the story wrong) chose to spend $2.7m on a rollercoaster rather than Koalas.
  3. This is 100% where it’s at. Dreamworld, boo, hiss. The media will do anything they can to find a negative slant to throw at them. I’m not even pro-DW, I’m pro-theme parks, but DW cop it deluxe with a negative vibe on anything. Even if a positive is found they ensure “and it is x years since TRRR” finishes the article. the media is morally corrupt - we all know that - yet people still will pick and choose when they believe what is written is credible based on if it reflects their own thoughts/feelings.
  4. Asking the question was smart business practice. If the project the funds were given for was off the table, then the only options available is to: a) just spend the money on something else b) consult the govt who provided the money on what they wanted to have done with it DW chose the responsible option, and the Qld govt gave them the ok to divert the funds elsewhere. From that moment on, DW was absolved of any issue as they provided full transparency. we’re talking $2.7m. It’s a sneeze to the govt who just blew $250m on a quarantine camp that they don’t even own as an asset any longer and was visited less than DW on a wet day…
  5. If covid had not have occurred causing the park to close for months, there is no evidence to suggest the Koala centre project would not have gone ahead. With them bleeding money due to closure, and then no interstate tourists, in my opinion it was prudent and smart management for DW to ask the QLD government if the funds could be repurposed. The QLD Govt had the option to say yes, no, or "just give us the money back". You can have beef with the QLD Govt for saying yes, but the park has done nothing wrong here. There is no harm in asking a question. If DW had just spent the money on ST without asking, then thats an issue, but that didnt occur. I feel it was a completely responsible request and avenue to take to help the park rebound out of covid.
  6. Govt have DW $2.7m to go towards the koala research centre they were planning. Covid happened and the plan got scuttled. DW asked Qld Govt if they could instead use the funds for ST. Govt said no problem. Media found out today. Cue “think of the koalas”
  7. “Expected increased in leisure spending” not if inflation and in turn interest rates rises continue the way they are. After the inflation results today they are saying a minimum 0.5% rise again to be announced next week, maybe even 0.75%. I can’t seen anything but a decrease in leisure spending, which is disappointing for the parks after what they’ve been through
  8. They’ve slowed down a little, it’s been TOW for nearly 2 weeks now… here is what the letters look Like up close if anyone is interested
  9. That’s was the remodel of the retail store that took place no too long ago
  10. You’re missing the shipping expenses which are large, and the much higher labour costs. Also missing the cost of removing Arkham. I reckon you’re probably looking at less than half your estimate being left over
  11. I’m not sure if 2 people are enough to classify it as “common”. I rode the train twice on the weekend, there was no warning over the speakers whatsoever. Maybe they just play it after they see people hitting their heads… I don’t think it’s an issue anymore so than people walking into poles as they are too busy looking at their phones…. My son used to always run into things, thankfully he grew out of the toddler stage.
  12. I typically look where I’m going and then hitting my head gets harder to accomplish… If you didn’t learn to adapt from the actual experience and pain of hitting your head multiple times, I doubt some form of verbal announcement is going to change anything
  13. Given the issues with staffing and covid, and that appearing to be getting worse currently rather than better, i'm not expecting anymore than 4 mazes, and the likelihood that 3 may be repeated. Given we haven't had an FN in 3 years, i'm not expecting that to be much an issue for people really. I think IT will return, and we'll get a new Halloween themed maze with the final movie of the Jamie-Lee saga coming to an end with Halloween Ends releasing in October. The other 2 will be generic - i'd love to see the return of the Film Vault - i still believe that was their best original creation despite it being a decade ago now.
  14. Just gonna be 10 of these in the corner, for $2 a ride. Spared no expense,
  15. If that was the case they wouldn’t have just invested in new trains
  16. And making it somehow worse…. Huh? So they will gut the sound stage and start again? Sounds a fair assumption - what else would they do?
  17. Vekoma model the park is getting isn’t launched, you’ll find that’s just a mistake by the media (similar to Today Show this morning showing WWW in its package about VTP, as well as the reporter saying “2 family friendly rides and one thrill ride”).
  18. Wasn’t aware of that, but haven’t done a DW visit in a couple of months aside from a duck in to ride ST. That’s a real shame
  19. I love the concept, theme, ride choices. It’s now over to MW to deliver something that at least represents or reflects that artistic impression. And deliver it on time. They essentially have 30 months to complete it by 2024 (end of) and won’t have a pandemic or unexpected shipping/manufacturing timelines to fall back on this time around. also very happy to hear of investment in WB Kids - it has desperately needed it for many years now. If I had it may they bulldoze all but Road Runner and start afresh
  20. Cheers for the history lesson, that was actually interesting to read and something I wasn’t aware of. Sucks we won’t see TikTok stomping around! Dreamworks does have its own retail store right outside Escape from Madagascar, “Cargo Hold” from memory it’s called.
  21. https://fb.watch/emhO5JWxwk/?mibextid=CbyEMU thought it may have embedded the video but nope. Just a teaser by 7 news Gold Coast that a major announcement will be made tomorrow morning
