My guess is, because the aviary is still technically under renovation, and the Devils/Twilight Trail are only accessible through said aviary, they just haven’t added it. But it’s weird to see them just leave it out, alongside all the other temporary/already outdated changes that they’ve made to the map.
-
How often do they update their park map? Cause it seems like a weird choice to do so now, especially with it showcasing the updated Giant Drop, but depicting everything else in their transitionary/outdated states ('Escape Coaster' name & colours, which is scheduled to begin it's maintenance/retheme before new GD opens, 'Dreamworld Dodgems' name, 'Dreamworld Ball Pit' name, 'Serpent Slayer' name w/ Pandamonium colour scheme, no 'Dreamworld Flyer' label/art, no labelling for the Twilight Trail, etc.)

Thankfully, it's the former. https://www.dreamworld.com.au/rides-attractions/dreamworld/family-rides/sky-voyager/

Brightening their image a little, and... It's this: https://www.brogent.com/en/Ocean-mv-7.html That's the exact movie being used for the advertising of their 'Q-Ride' system, and it can be found on Brogent's Digital Media/CGI Content page alongside 2 other movies they've made for VR (https://www.brogent.com/en/digitalmedia.html?cid=2). So, best case scenario, they're repurposing a VR/CGI movie to work with Sky Voyager's fixed screen for a limited time. Worst case scenario, they're stuck in the 2010's and have actually decided to retrofit SV to have VR. Really hoping it's the former.

The New Atlantis - Reviews & Reactions
Tricoart replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Horizon-locked POV's are nice 2nd/3rd POV's if they're done right, but it's annoying when them & hypersmoothed POV's are done horribly & are the only existing POV's of a ride til it opens. -
No joke, the first image that pops up when you load that website: And Dreamworld Flyer's concept art: Look at the shadows on the ground, the empty seats, even the positions & movement of individual riders (hands out 'flying', holding onto the chains, looking away, etc). No secret where the reference image came from.

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster vs. Wild Mouse vs. Dingo Racer
Tricoart replied to TBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Not wanting to start an argument about the many harmful effects of drug use, and how they intensify with certain drugs, especially not in the 'Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster' thread. But no, I am not. Anyway... I might've just had zero good rides on the 'New Generation' Scooby, but even the room with the upgraded lighting effects seemed like a let-down to me, as they appeared more like pitiful middle school disco lights, and they didn't give a shred of the 'laser show' vibes 'cause there was no smoke/mist in the room for the lights to reflect off. So IMO the upgrades in there weren't even a plus side to New Generation (though it could've been if they were able to fill the room with smoke/mist).- 53 replies

IMO rides that people had the ability to ride, especially the ones people had the ability to ride rather recently, should be considered fair game. It’d start to get a bit murky when you go pre-Bush Beast, tho.

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster vs. Wild Mouse vs. Dingo Racer
Tricoart replied to TBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
No, it makes total sense to purchase and consume a highly illegal, highly damaging, life-ruining substance so you can more accurately describe what the experience on a Wild Mouse used to be like for a couple years. Seriously though, 'acid trip'/'trip' in general is just used to describe something with disorienting, colourful, flashing lights. There's no correlation between, or guidelines for needing to have been on an actual trip to use the phrase.- 53 replies

I guess I'm just too analytical/pessimistic, but I don't really care if there's a screen with motion blur or a few flashing lights trying to make me feel faster, while in reality I'm just experiencing the average force of a railway train departing a station. On the off chance I'm able to go to the US at all, I'd just prefer to spend their exorbitant entry fees on an extra day at IoA, SWO, or BGT. I know you don't need thrills, I love Storm, JR & Levi at Sea World despite them being much less thrilling than the big boys at DW & MW, but I wouldn't pay the insane entrance fees that at best only get you admission to 3 parks that have a few of those and a ton of dark rides that do even less. If you like them, all power to ya, but they’re just not for me.

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster vs. Wild Mouse vs. Dingo Racer

The original SDSC is a clear winner here IMO. If you're talking the 'new generation' version, though, then it's a toss up between that and LPS's wooden wild mouse for me.- 53 replies

Yeah, I wouldn't rate a coaster highly just because of it's theming if the layout itself is poor (and I too couldn't see myself enjoying Disney), but I'd prefer a mix of a good layout & good theming (Superman) over a good layout, bad theming, and a great gimmick (ST). DCR, in comparison, would be a great layout, decent theming, and a great gimmick (the 'theming' mainly consisting of the spectacle & placement of the coaster itself).

Wet n Wild SurfRider taken off website
Tricoart replied to Natti_amusements's topic in Theme Park Discussion
On the money, that's definitely it. Visibly got the same OTSR's, here's to hoping that changes to the updated restraints on Timmy's Half-Pipe Havoc (lap bar) before opening.- 406 replies

If we're going solely by a completely barebones ride experience (imagining both rides were built at the exact same time, and placed on a flat grass field in the middle of nowhere), Steel Taipan's gimmick seat sets it above Superman. However that isn't the case, and seeing as Superman's got the theming, anticipation, and a certain level of charm due to being much more settled in, I can't say Steel Taipan's the better attraction. It's gotta be Superman IMO.

Road Runner Rollercoaster to get a bigger queue
Tricoart replied to TBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, if it was markings for an actual construction project, they wouldn't need markings for Fast Track/Virtual Queue, or arrows showing direction of travel. It's just to guide guests the right way if the queue overflows. -
Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point "Closing"
Tricoart replied to Coasterjoe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, no further alterations to the ride's track/hardware have been done as far as I can tell. Here's where the original image was taken from, in higher quality and with zoomed out images showing the whole TTD site: -
I went on Arkham pretty close to the end of it's lifespan, and it was like floating on a cloud in comparison to Cyclone (Gold Coaster pre-reno). And, in my opinion, the (by no means painful) jostle it had only enhanced the ride experience for my pre-enthusiast self, being an out-of-control machine cobbled together in a prison yard to make people go insane. Anyways, haven't been on Abyss or BD3 yet (am hoping to head down to Sydney this year or next), but imo BD3 has the superior layout, and gets extra points for being one of the most unique coasters in Australia. Plus, if the launches pack as much punch as the ones on JR, it's definitely the better coaster.

The New Atlantis - Reviews & Reactions

Idk, anything under $15 and I’d just prefer to wait in the queue for a normal seat & spend the money on a different experience (Glass Bottom Boat, or save it for a back-of-house tour). -

The joke is that they’re about as unreliable as hydraulic launches are becoming, meaning they’d be SBNO (Standing But Not Operating) just as commonly, if not more so.- 329 replies

Wet n Wild SurfRider taken off website
Tricoart replied to Natti_amusements's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Intamin did redesign the SurfRider in 2021 w/ new trains that utilize their modern lap bars, so they could hypothetically switch to those new trains if the track gauge is the same on both models, but the newer model's track seems wider to me which'd make a switch impractical. Also, the new trains were designed with greater capacity in mind, which meant more seats per rotational set (10 instead of 6), meaning the redesigned train had to be substantially wider than the older models, and as such there'd need to be a completely redesigned station to allow for said train. So it remains to be seen whether they use the same trains or not, but I doubt they'd pay for new (somewhat prototype, seeing as they haven't been used before) trains & a completely redesigned station just for a ~100pph boost on a ride they probably don't expect much ridership from, even if you assumed that they could do so in the first place.- 406 replies

Don't really get what's wrong with it's paint job tbh, it's just a simple red-coloured car on a kids ride. Is it the little bit of roughness above the wheel? -
The New Atlantis - Reviews & Reactions
Tricoart replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, that's still way too much. Tonnerre 2 Zeus @ Parc Asterix has the gimmick seat from Levi (though it technically opened earlier, thanks Sea World mismanagement), and that opened with an upcharge of ~$18, but quickly changed it to ~$12 in just over a week due to poor guest feedback (and as far as I can tell, it operated smoothly on opening and didn't have any 'purchase on the barely functioning app' tomfoolery either). I know they're different markets and all, but with how universally disliked the experience is, anywhere under $15 is a ripoff IMO (and I'd only personally consider riding it if it was $10). -

Big Dipper isn't an LSM launch, it's a tyre drive launch like that on Jet Rescue. Just remains to be seen if Zamperla can pull off a kicky launch on Senzafiato/TTD (still feels weird saying that).- 329 replies

There could be a myriad of reasons for both why it closed so abruptly, and why it's taking longer than originally stated for it to reopen. But the matter of fact is that nobody knows until VRTP are more transparent, and in the meantime all that's going to happen is people (meaning anywhere from us fanatics who know way too much about the ride, the news, or just normal visitors of the park) will be left wondering what the reason is, grasping at straws & making conclusions based on mere hearsay. And that inevitably leads to hysteria (see "crack in the track" or "Leviathan's sinking"), especially when the last thing people remember happening about the ride is "Guests trapped in complete darkness, 10 meters in the air for over an hour after ride suddenly stops, fire department called to rescue".

Dreamworld’s Ocean Parade Expansion 2023
Tricoart replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Definitely seems that way, with the topper (Crown? Roof?) of the carousel being substantially different from the one in this concept art (you'll have to zoom in a bit to see it): If it is the case that this is the finalized design, and it strays that far from the concept art, even though it's just a carousel IMO that reflects very badly on the rest of the retheme, and crashes my expectations for the few decisions I thought they'd made that were good.
