I would have to agree with you there. When I saw the Texas park announced I was thinking I bet something like that could work here. Maybe Brisbane (probably not) or Sydney? Victoria seems to be happy to support parks so maybe it will go there.

I find this so entertaining. Probably the only time where a pinfari and a intamin launch coaster could both be side by side lol

I was thinking I don’t mind dreamworld being “cheap” on this refresh considering what state they are in at the moment but that doesn’t mean it has to look boring or badly done. The new dreamland sign could look a lot better and still be cheap. The thing is though everyone working on the logos promotional bits and signs would be from a university like culture where it’s all refined and by the books. It’s would be near cloned from something else. they can’t think out of the box, that’s not what they were taught. But if you think about it They could use a lot of salvaged materials and parts that could make a more interesting sign. That’s what people building theme parks would have done in the 50s-80s. See the in house built theming and what charm it had. They weren’t forking out millions and millions but were using what the had efficiently and cleaver. cheap doesn’t have to mean effortless. Instead of getting parts fabricated and cut specifically and having to cut corners in detail. there is more clever ways to do it. You just need a bit of imagination. Something the new dreamland seems to lack so far.

Sapphire Speedster Coaster vs. Mining Race Coaster
REGIE replied to TBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Hm yep I had that one coming. Good old spell check. I actually found what you said pretty funny 😂 . If you can’t take a joke what’s the point. At least I was right about it being the oldest operating steel* coaster in aus. Oldest in the southern hemisphere is corkscrew rainbows end -

Sorry I forgot to add the “it’s just a joke I know what you actually meant” disclaimer to my comment. I highly exaggerated. -
Whoops I meant 31st of march not April

Wait are you guys saying that an open tin shed station with no theming but easy visibility with a screen playing a tinny safety video in the corner would be preferred over leviathan’s station?? No wonder DW can’t be bothered to put effort in to what they are doing. The original concern was shouting ruining the atmosphere and theme. Now we are saying remove the themeing and have the TV’s play a safety video instead of the leviathan video would stop the staff shouting you you can enjoy immersion of a safety video and watching other people load in front of you. -
Sapphire Speedster Coaster vs. Mining Race Coaster
REGIE replied to TBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think SSC for slightly more thrilling of a ride and being the oldest operating steal coaster in Australia (correct me if I am wrong) I haven’t done mining coaster myself but I can just tell I like SSC more. Plus TPWW said mining coaster was rough -
NSW hoildays start 31st of April and qld starts a week later I believe.

Yeah I was lining up and almost leaned on it and the staff said “don’t touch that!” So I asked the staff what it did and he said it just opens the sliding door. -
That list makes a lot of sense to me. But scooby could be vs storm (themed rides with similar thrill levels) and the green valley single rail vs dingo racer. (Both family owned parks.) they don’t have much at all in common but it seems the most fair to me. I would pick green valley coaster for the uniqueness (sorry dingo) anyone who has done GL and AB which is better? I have always though based on photos AB at AW was better but maybe not.

Yeah it would need a bit more then just doors to get 0% but if they added a soft roof to the cars as well and signs saying “stay in at all times” the chances would definitely be lower and since there was signs it’s not the parks fault if someone purposely struggles out of the cars to just be hit by another very slow coming car.

Staff could give you the safety speech when you line up in-front of the mirror door out side and once they are done push the button and you can then go through. Then they could use the prerecorded message in the station. 🤷🏼♂️ -
I know you have given clear points and it makes sense but what if they added doors onto the model T’s? It’s still in house but if theres 0 chance of something happening on a in-house built ride it seems OK? Little gates wouldn’t be to hard to add on. And basically eliminate the worry of people coming out of the cars.

The other thing with LLDD and ZG at the six flags parks is there’s plenty of other really tall rides/coasters in that park. With GD there’s nothing at dreamworld even half the height which makes it seem almost higher up

Yeah but there’s like no coasters GC can complete with. It kinda has to be a flat ride of some sort

I don’t remember noticing seat belts on leviathan -
I guess lest fumes is good but the smell from the Vintage cars is nostalgic. Same with Currumbin wildlife sanctuaries Diesel trains.

They have no listed height that I could find. except Tennessee tornado which I guess counts despite it using completely different system to build it. And it’s also more of a mega looper as it’s over 150ft tall. Either way I guess gold coaster comes second. If your basing it on the mega looper range no counting then you could make a argument for TT not being a mega looper because of the building process. But if you go based on classic arrow loopers then viper counts but TT doesn’t. Good old Australia Always manages to come second to America in everything. We had the second last blockbuster the second seaworld park ect. Gold coaster is in a different category of arrow’s but I can see how some people can box them together. RCDB counts wild mouse at Luna park Sydney as from 1990s.. you gotta take what RCDB says with a grain of salt.
-
Gold coaster best compares with green lantern but that’s been in a poll. You could compare it with corkscrew or demon or maybe Arkham Asylum. Maybe you could compare it with a flat ride like vortex. vortex vs gold coaster seems pretty good.
