Exactly, a Raspberry Pi being used for media playback would be errr, a media server. The question is, can you integrate it with automated turnstiles?

Why? Button opens the door. Thats all it does, the actual show is triggered elsewhere. -

Thank goodness someone said it. God turning the theming screens into information displays is even worse than operators shouting over the prerecorded spiels. -

Is it the WORST idea? Of course not. Will it DESTROY the park? Not by a mile. But is it the best investment in that area of the park, probs not. I think one of the best thing the park used to have going for it was that from out front (ie carpark) you could see all these rides running in the park and you wanted to go and get to them (Claw, Wipeout, Enterprise, etc). They've lost that. Could the Wave Swinger have been fitted into the old Wipeout area? Would that have actually been a better move along with getting rid of that bloody awful globe and bringing the fountain back to being a showpiece? It's going to make a nice new visual for sure, but let's be real, it's another park's visual they have 'borrowed'. I kinda wish they were more going with trying to restore Dreamworld's own iconic identity, and undoing all that rubbish from long before this management team. It is great they are investing, and it will look nice for sure. But given how bloody awful Movie World is with all that crap shoved at the front of the park I kinda wish they had not gone for the same.

Late arriving/late being ordered… Potato/Potarto 😛 Glad to see this BEAST of machine made it onto the ride after being specified, thats a great effect. Are the lights in the tunnel now too?

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster vs. Wild Mouse vs. Dingo Racer
rappa replied to TBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Correct, but that doesn’t mean it’s physical. It’s completely easy and practical to do with a relatively small investment. Just required two things: -The correct and appropriate machine which does in fact exist -Someone to seek the expert advice, take it, and install said machine. Haze exists (it’s just the most expensive, but still nothing crazy) that gives amazing light beams but also creates zero visibility issues. The company already uses it on it’s Outback Show. And you’d need even less in Scooby.- 53 replies

Buccaneer Bay is indeed the incarnation when the volcano was ‘added’ (in reality it was an overlay on an existing dome type structure that already had the tunnels) as were the crocodiles.

Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point "Closing"
rappa replied to Coasterjoe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The typical whiney voiced mums basement American video mentions some previously proven true information. What exactly is that? Nothing he has previously posted has been proven true so far. I think it’s speculation. This would universally make the ride more crap so why would anyone in their right mind at Cedar Fair choose to do this? -
Wet n Wild SurfRider taken off website
rappa replied to Natti_amusements's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Have you ever ridden Superman? On the left as you launch and clear as day when you go through the building mid ride you can see all that stuff. A big green lantern car which are usually there is pretty damn visible to any guest and breaks the theme of the ride for sure.- 406 replies

I feel like they have been as transparent as anyone can ever reasonably expect a theme park to ever be.

We are doing this and that for this date… what is more transparent? No park ever has said “ride is closed because plc had xyz fault” or “brake calipers needed adjusting”. How could any of us ever expect different in this case? Surely the scenario @webslave proposed is the most likely.

I didn’t say it would take 2 years. But what if the planned closure was in 6 weeks and said ‘pump’ was going to take 10 to arrive? That’s entirely plausible. You can’t plan ahead for Covid delays on things you aren’t expecting to need. At work we plan way ahead on our usual orders because of delays. But when a customer calls and wants a specialty item it still takes 3 months to get it instead of the old days of 2 weeks. No amount of planning can change that. To be fair to the park, it’s not like we have any RIGHT to know what’s wrong. Transparent I say IS changing the year to 2025 now instead of in 18months. And of course a webite update happens in the middle of the night.

Surely this is a case of discovering something not worth fixing/couldn’t be fixed quickly during regular inspections and not some big cover up. Something of this nature may be completely reliability related like a pump or something and not in any way safety related such as a piece of track to break off. Covid delays on parts/components is still a real thing every day.

You've half quoted @DaptoFunlandGuy to totally change the nature of his point, don't do that, it's against the community guidelines. He's saying the argument is flawed, which it is, the tickets are not a justification for the ops to be faster.

It mostly comes down to the absolute hacks who had the first crack at ‘next gen’ absolutely blasting the place with massive clouds of smoke to try and see their pathetic toy lasers. This well scared off the fire people so there has been nothing since. A properly done haze will be almost undetectable and perfectly fine in there. 🤞

No, so I'm not going to say DW isn't doing well. I'm just saying if someone's report IS that a park is quiet and has no lines, that's not really a good thing for the park. Where as "the place sucks because it's so popular" doesn't make for a fun day but is indicative of a healthy bottom line.

So there is definitely LESS lighting in that ride than Scooby. The big difference here is the use of atmosphere. Scooby haze no smoke or haze in the high zone so the lighting effects are totally limited to what 'crap' is in the air for the light beams to hit or what they actually light up. It has been that way ever since the fire regulations crack down/the next gen rebuild. It's not that the smoke is broken or anything, it's that it's not there period. Hopefully they can get that sorted out in this period and bring back atmospheric haze in the 'disco room'. Putting a haze machine in there would instantly make the exact lighting that's in there now look 10 times better.

Not being busy and having small wait times is not an indication of a park doing well. If it was busy as hell and had small waits that would be awesome, but that isn't the case. As @joz basically said, the biggest issue at MW is family rides not having enough capacity, which is also a function of not having enough family rides. Hopefully once Wizard of Oz is built the park will have 4 mass appeal family coasters in operation to greatly help this. This is one of the main reasons I thought adding a bunch of family coasters was a good idea vs a big thrill attraction.
