New Kids Ride at Movie World - April 2023

I decided to swing by the park to check out what was happening with the new ride. It looks great and the lighting package compliments it really well (it’s effective even during the day). However, operations were abysmal. It no joke took over 10 mins to despatch one ride. The staff were too busy talking to each other in the op booth to worry about running the attraction. This was in front what appeared to be park officials and members of the VRTP social media team. It was so bad that many people in the queue line simply gave up and left. I really hope the park sorts this out. Here are some shots I took while I was there…

You'll have to note that there being two staff members in the booth is due to training, which always inevitably leads to longer cycle times.

True, but there didn’t seem to be much “training” going on. The staff appeared to be cracking jokes and just casually chatting to each other.

What surprised me most about the ride is it has to be literally plugged in with a cord from the ops booth to release the restraints.

Not unusual for SBF Visa, they do that as well on their smaller spinning coasters, or at least on the ones that I've done. Weird design, really.

Watched the ride operate today for a fair while. Operations are very very slow. The queue wasn’t that long, but the wait was 30 minutes. And I got to witness the cord being plugged in to unlock a harnesses, so strange to see this happen and adds around 20 seconds to the end of the ride while the operator grabs the cord from the op booth, plugs it in, pushes the button, unplugs it and then places it back into op booth.

Since opening, they’ve moved to ride info sign from the left garden to the right garden behind the themed wall. In its original spot you couldn’t actually see it because the queue gets long and hides it. They’ve also added another purple wall into the left garden.

this cord business is an absolute joke. I certainly hope its a temporary measure because they needed a part and preferred to open the ride rather than wait for the hardwired option to arrive.

If the cord is the intended, long term operation, I wonder how much downtime we're going to have from broken cables.

For what it's worth I asked and was told it is part of "normal ride operation". I assumed initially too it was likely a temporary measure.

Village operations is a joke.  When the new kid's coaster opens, we will be able to compare it to TNT operations.
