Yeah - mourning for this ride started a long time ago. Now it's just rubbish that the park has let sit for way too long, and it's good to see them tidying things up, even if a ride or install isn't pl

The section going through Storm is also apparently gone (leaving just the castle section) and demolition walls have been put outside of the castle (thanks to Gold Coast Theme Parks)

If this means the Castle is also going, I wonder what will eventually replace it? My guess is we will see something in the area in 2025/2026 after Flash/WoO opens.

A modern flume or shoot the chutes would be nice. Something that looks less intimidating than Storm and can fit the gap between Nickelodeon & Storm/Atlantis/jet rescue perfectly

Yeah, you'd think SEAworld would see the importance of a true water based flume ride! 🙄  Sad they let it get to this point...but to be fair, flumes have/are having a downturn in their cycle worldwide.

The drop area has been filled in with dirt completely (thanks to Jaggs Journeys)BC39B496-5E2E-4634-B529-2B79C1D776DE.thumb.jpeg.19c08f15de86971a27d0680f6d641777.jpeg

I'm glad Jaggs Journeys took the initiative to finally fill it in himself.

No wonder it’s taken them years to do, it’s a lot of dirt for one man and a shovel.

Iterative update:

Perhaps unfortunately, the plans for the filled-in drop plot of land are becoming clear: Seemingly, it’s just going to be used as a path connection from the food court to Storm. After talking to staff, they didn’t know/couldn’t say for sure what it’ll be, but one stated that they believed grass’ll be planted. Also, something that I can’t see previously being highlighted (but if it has been, my apologies) is that trees have been planted in the area, adjacent to the path. Photos:

Onto something a tad more interesting, another tidbit that I haven’t seen pointed out yet is that new wooden fencing seems to have gone up near the castle, as well as beside the ex-station for the Log Flume. The castle itself is open, and its interior seems to be mostly gutted, or being used for the construction. Don’t know if that is necessarily new, but I only noticed it today, as is the case with the fencing & planted trees. Again, apologies if any of this is rehashing already known information.

Great to see they’re finally putting some effort into this area to make it less of a mess and easier to navigate this area of the park. If they do make it a grassed/planted area that will definitely be much nicer than how it’s looked since storm was built. And then hopefully long term we see new attraction/s.

Has that door always been painted white and open like that?

Ok. I must not have noticed them somehow.  I would love to see what the castle looks like on the inside now.  I am surprised no random employee has released a video showing it .

I’m so glad that, even 8 years on, a post that was up for a single day still gets remembered 😂

I live in London now, but I’m back in Australia for a holiday in 3 weeks.

I’ll see if I can get some behind the scenes photos ;)

What’s the worst than can do? Deport me?

Even though that post is getting on in years, those of us at the top of the Parkz Upwards Seating Pit fondly remember the days before we had all these safety systems - like scooby fire eyes, and cantilevered soundstage roofing, to a more simpler time, when a simple, thigh-high gate was the only barrier to a world of memories in a ride SBNO

Those of us who were there will continue to espouse your legacy, and tell stories to the children (on school holidays when they're all here) of a time when a true hero went on a quest (and broke every damn rule in the process!)

Glad to see you're still kicking around mate. Enjoy the holiday.

All that’s able to be seen of the interior is that they’ve got an almighty Dulux can onsite, and there’s a construction worker in there (at least, hopefully a construction worker, and not one of y’all).

General update for the exterior, though, route of the path has become pretty clear (photos are from the very back corner of Ray Reef, for perspective).

And the new fencing near the castle has been painted.

Edit: Breaking News, measuring thingo is on site. This might be the most interesting thing to happen in the Gold Coast theme park scene since DCR.
