Proposed rollercoasters/rides that were never built in Australia

A while back, I posted a topic about proposed theme parks in Australia that never got built and a lot of people had very good knowledge of the history of that subject. It was one of my most popular posts, so I though I'd start a new one. There are a lot of planned attractions that were never built, which makes for some interesting history. I'll start us off:

- Wonderland was planning a beach expansion with new slides and a Intamin Surfrider similar to the one at WNW GC (http://www.wonderlandhistory.net/content/proposed_beach_improvments)

- Courtesy of a fellow Parkz member, I found concepts for a never built BD at LPS

Over to you Parkz

Wild really would have been a bad expansion if Village went ahead with it, it never made much sense. Glad that Leviathan/Trident takes up that land now.

Wizard of Oz was meant to be a Joker's Madhouse themed Raptor - custom layout, etc, before they went with the family coasters. Doomsday was originally planned as a very tall condor (144m, taller than the dreamworld tower) sitting in the middle of Superman's helix - before they decided to chuck a different ride in Boot Hill.

An ampitheatre in Gold Rush and a themed lazy river in the old boneyard/thunderbolt spot were weird choices and weren't going to achieve the same effect ST could.

Just a few I can tick off the list, most are public knowledge but always good to recap.

I have never heard that MW was looking at a Raptor before- how close did it come to being an reality?

I’m guessing that was the original information given to the staff, as when people were first coming out on what was shown it was a “dark green coaster”, not seen on the coast and unique, which does not fit woo at all.

Fingers crossed they chose to move this project back instead of cancelling it🫠

A Joker’s Madhouse raptor would of been sick, let’s hope they haven’t canceled it and it will be popping up in less than a decade.

The article refers to February 1997, and a "skateboard ride". What gives you the impression it was a surfrider similar to WNW? (wish that we had the media that was linked to that page instead of faulty code)

The first Intamin Surfrider opened in 2007, and the first Intamin halfpipe opened in 2003. A 'skateboard ride' could be any number of things.

What was the skateboard ride?

I've seen as much as you have at this point.

The old Wonderland History website is a labour of love for the guy who runs it and it's been low on the priority list for quite some time. Things keep breaking and not getting fixed, though i've sent him the details of this page and asked if he has the media file that is missing - as that might give more clarity on what was planned. Keep an eye on that link and it might get updated in the near future.

...And there you have it, quicker than anticipated!

Not much more info to go from, but it looks like they were realigning the entrance to the beach to market it as a separate gate. Still no detail on what the skateboard ride was, but the overall plan is definitely intriguing and very sad it never came about...
