I would like to wish Wonderland a Happy 20th birthday today! I am sure had it not been pulled down there would be massive celebrations

Indeed. Happy birthday Wonderland. 20 Years ago, you were built for fun, and 18 years later, closed down for a large lump sump of cash.

Sorry to extinguish the birthday candles there guys, but Australia's Wonderland (as it was then known) was opened on the Saturday 7th December 1985, not the 5th as you are referring.

good point flasher, but don't forget the pre-opening dress rehearsals. Technically, it was up to a month earlier. Then again if you wanna start talking about ground breaking, or when construction on the beast was commenced \ completed - depends on which date you want, although most would sit with 7th december quite nicely.
