It's certainly a ride that is waaaaay better to ride than you would think from simply watching it, so no one get dissapointed just yet.

Thats what I thought too.....

As part of the theming there is an audio track that runs at the start of the right with motor noises and a countdown and stuff, that was probably what you could hear. It does well to add to the experience/anticipation as well as covering the actual air/mechanical sounds of the ride itself.
