Check out the way the explosion rips through the teal slide, lighting the rings up from the inside.

 

Incredibly sad to hear this news last night. Liseberg is a wonderful park and Oceana was looking very impressive. I'd be curious to understand what caused the slides to explode like that (gas buildup perhaps?). Hopefully they can rebuild but it must be horrible for the team involved.

The question is: Do you want to rebuild the park or do you just cancel it? The damage looks pretty significant to me, I would probably cancel it with all the damage. Hope the park has insurance. Either way if it does go ahead I can see it being delayed for a while.

I was only reading about Oceana Water park last week and updates with the slides and stuff. Looked awesome and now this.... This is really sad. Hope no one was injured. Hopefully they re-build it all.

Looked like a flammable gas ignition from the videos I saw. Chlorine is not in itself flammable, but can cause explosions when reacting with other chemicals. That was my initial reaction.

Liseberg have made an official statement about the incident. Sadly, Oceana is pretty much a total write-off as the entire building has been completely destroyed.
