And despite Trident having not yet reopened, it’s already got a handful of maintenance already scheduled

I do find this amusing, but hopefully that means they have a firm idea of when works will be completed and have based  these dates around it opening then.

I suspect with all of the recent activity around the ride, they’ll start extensively testing it soon (and hopefully in various weather conditions), with the plan to reopen in time for Summer.

I’d assume these closures are working around the Carnivale dates, as the first four closures all happen from Monday to Thursday with the goal of reopening by Friday.

I’d pencil in the following Carnivale dates: Friday 7th (Maybe), Saturday 8th February, Friday 14th February, Saturday 15th February, Friday 21st February, Saturday 22nd February, Friday 28th February and Saturday 1st March.

Still listed as an open attraction for Sea World Spooky Nights... who knows

Carnival only went for three weekends this year, so I doubt it’ll got for two months. I think the dates scheduled are purely just so they can have it open on the busier days (not necessarily Carnivale related).

Let's say they went with a Funtime model rather than the budget SBF, is it any more reliable? Or are the issues something else - the ocean breeze or aftermarket restraint sensors perhaps?

The Funtime models for the most part have been proven to be very reliable, Sea World cheaped out and brought a lemon much like they did with Doomsday.

Wasn't Doomsday an Intamin flat ride? Or are intamin more so infamous for flat ride projects compared to compeditors?

As far as I know it was sold by Intamin but built by ABC Engineering. They have built several other flat rides including the Toubillion Model that is also known for having major issues (Cyborg Spin at Six Flags for example)

It doesn't matter who designed or built the ride.  The ride is an Intamin ride.  It's not uncommon to have multiply parties involved in a ride.

Gerstlauer have built RMC coasters.

Sansei have built RMC coasters.

RMC have built RMC coasters.

Gerstlauer have supplied trains for RMC coasters.

RMC have supplied trains for RMC coasters.

Joe Draves has designed RMC coasters.

Alan Schilke has designed RMC coasters.

Might not be uncommon, but there's something pretty common in all of your examples...
