  • New display name changed the title to 2024-2025 Christmas trading hours for the Gold Coast

yeah, especially with new attractions slated to open in both the big dry parks, offering an extended trading hours over the summer holidays just makes sense.

I see that Movie World has actually confirmed that attractions will operate for the times listed above. The park has previously 'opened' at 9:30 but attractions did not operate until 10, so this change is a step in the right direction for sure and kudos to MW for offering the extended hours.

The park does list that "queue lines may close earlier to allow attractions to finish in line with park closing times" and this always catches people out who don't realise many of the more popular rides will be off the table much earlier than the advertised close time. (I would love to see all our parks roster 'closing' staff an extra hour or so, so that they don't have to close the queues early, but this would be a massive extra daily cost to the park and i'm just an enthusiast who wants too much.)

As for Dreamworld, they do have night markets on as usual 27th and 28th December from 5-9pm, and their operating hours list 'After Dark' on January 18th from 6pm to 10pm

After Dark | Dreamworld though there is no information on ticket pricing, i'm assuming it is an additional cost given the opening is an hour later than regular park close.

I can't find the After Dark event on the new DW web site, without clicking on your link.

So - I went to: Park Info > Opening Hours > Set calendar to any date in January > "January Highlights"

I've just gone back to the site to screenshot and it's already removed, so that was probably something they weren't ready to release yet! haha.

I don't think a single night is going to kill Carnivale (though really, Sea World shouldn't host Carnivale - it should go back to MW where it belongs), but I would like to see DW do more night events rather than just night market.

kinda paints them into a corner with the markets. they have to keep consistent dates to keep the food vendors coming, but they're then hamstrung on being able to host night events on their big attendance days...

They could at least open the park at 9am and keep WWW open until 7pm. Or just not have the markets for that week after Christmas and have the park until 9am to 7pm to handle the busiest week of the year for the parks. It’s pretty disappointing they don’t.

Dreamworld only being open for 7 hours a day in summer is horrible. You're probably looking at the busiest summer for the park since 2015, with a new ride being added to the mix that's going to have people line up for 1.5-2 hours for it because it is new. Minus half an hour or so for lunch that's a sizeable chunk of someone's day taken up by 1 ride. If you want to ride Taipan, that's a majority. And you're including a water park in the mix too - for the price of admission you aren't going to get on much.

Movie world being open for 8 and a half is better but if Rivals gets 4 hour lines like it did last summer, people are for sure going to feel like they've been ripped off. The onus is on the park to keep operations consistent with the amount of people they're letting in

The Website After Dark | Dreamworld is back up and has more information on the event.

Dreamland, Taipan, Giant Drop and The Claw are all confirmed to be open (subject to change obvs) as well as Rivertown.

a 5 ride express pass is also on sale for $49

Passholder exclusive and last chance to ride The Claw at Night.

Interesting (but good) it’s a passholder exclusive, but when it’s only $10 entry it’s great to see if they’re giving passholders exclusive access to ride the claw at night for one last time and the opportunity to check out Rivertown at night for the first time.

Hopefully Janes Rivertown Restaurant is open also, will make a great day of it.

I’ve heard the inside fit out is almost complete and the exterior was being repainted last week. I think the park are really pushing to have all four areas (store, motors, jungle rush and restaurant) to all be complete upon the offical opening. There might be some little details here and there to finish off later, but I’d say the land will be at least 95% complete when opening.

Yeah I assumed a restaurant is easier to open than multi-million dollar mechanical ride, but still, want to keep my hopes and dreams in check.
