Winterfest & Christmas in July

Featured Replies

I went to Winterfest because I hadn’t been to DW in a while and wanted to see what had changed at the event. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. It felt familiar, like I was walking through the same event and it left me wondering why our parks don’t push seasonal events further instead of repeating the same year after year. It didn’t really give me a reason to want to experience it again.

At first, I even considered leaving early and skipping the Christmas in July part. But I found out I could grab a wristband and stay in the park, so I figured I’d have a quick look and go.

That quick look turned into staying until I was one of the last people in the park.

The transformation after dark completely changed the experience. The park shifted into something far more immersive, with glowing decorations, atmospheric music, and snow drifting through the lights. What started as a fairly underwhelming afternoon ended up being an impressive night.

Given the queues building up outside before the event, I’d definitely recommend arriving to DW early and staying in the park. What did other people think of the event?

I went on Saturday and while Winterfest was a definite downgrade from last year in my opinion, Christmas In July was fantastic! It’s probably the best event Dreamworld has done so far. I’d also recommend arriving early as the park was absolutely packed.

It's crazy how the world has done a full 360.

DW, the park everyone used to roast, has put on one of its better events in years, while Village parks seems to be treating the events calendar like it's a budget spreadsheet with a delete key.

I never thought I'd see the day where DW is adding reasons to visit and Village parks are busy finding reasons to stay home.

Only an hour into Christmas in July and it’s the best night program DW has put on. The park is alive, buzzing, immersive, festive.

TBH I prefer this to the last few white Christmas’s and I’ll prefer a fireworks finale than a repeat of the same parade for the 5th year in a row.

If they build on this is will overtake WC and the best Christmas program, and won’t even be at Xmas…
