Looks like it will be permanent. They've used the old vortex building to accommodate for the course... seems like a very small area how ever.
The old Vortex Building, attached to the rather large tent like demountable building that was used for Nightmares, the Mummy, and a function centre. Its been placed down behind the Nick Stuff merchandise outlet, running all the way down the length of the building. From what i know, the vortex building will only be used as a queueing area. That gives them more than enough room for a decent attraction.

  • I love these 'official' park history things, it really serves to show just how annoying marketing talk has become:

  • I'd say, Bring back the Thunderbolt. Well a new and improve version of it anyway.

Which ofcourse is awesome, let's just hope it's as awesome as it's sounding like it is. So the Dreamroom is gone, about time I say. Now let's bring on the big redevelopment that area deserves.

Yeah, this is Dreamworld's chance to recover a lot of ground...
What the!!!!!!!!!!! How can you say that this attraction will recover a lot of ground? Let’s look at it. A tent, some lights and a couple of guns. After all Dreamsworlds’ previous attempts, what make you think this would be any different.

If the building is the old Nightmares building, well then the building is something a little stronger than a "Tent", it is a decent strong structure. Not a brick and motor building, but it's more than capable of being used for a permanent attraction.

Well, the Vortex building could be used as part of the queue line. But if you look at a typical Laser Skirmish layout, they have the "briefing area" as well as an "Amoury" of types. So maybe this is what Mickey saw with the structure.

Was referring to tbone's second sentence - wasn't talking about just the addition of this attraction. I also meant the opportunity to do some stuff with the area the Dream Room was in/where the mini water park used to be. They could have a proper Goldrush Country again or extend Rocky Hollow.

Prepare for the fight of your life in Dreamworld’s new immersive combat experience, AVPX. Dodge, duck and defend as you get caught in the crossfire of an eternal battle for supremacy between two interstellar movie legends, Alien and Predator. The walls are alive, laser fields lock you into the action and alien impregnation will turn your team mates against you. You are the target; your mission is to survive. It’s Alien vs. Predator vs. You. Open April 10 and is included in cost of entry.
Wow, its free. Thanks Dreamworld but it is about time. Interesting attraction I wonder how it will cope capacity wise. I have a feeling it will be popular now it is free.

I have a rumour to add. I have it on good merit that the area is double story in some areas...should make for a good arena

I also heard that there will be cars inside which will be like walls and hiding places (You surely wont be able to get in the cars tho)

Considering the construction crew from sudden impact have been working non stop from about 7 in the morning till late in the afternoon/night i say there is a fair chance that it will be done on time. And people who have been inside have said that its looking good in there.

Not to mention Sudden Impact manage to do these sort of things very quickly... I can only hope the theming is as elaborate as the Mummy or the Angosica side of Nightmares. If it is just like the freezer it would be rather disappointing.

Sorry for the Double Post... but some info has been put up about the attraction. From April 10, Dreamworld will become the stage for an immersive combat experience where humans are the bait and their mission is to survive. Taking place in an intelligent arena that fights back, combatants earn points by engaging multi-layered targets with a Delta Strike phaser that triggers both shotgun and rifle-effect beams and comes with LCD screens and speakers to provide real-time game play information. New York based producer and director Lynton V Harris, the man behind attractions based on blockbuster movies, has been tasked with pushing laser combat beyond the arcade. “No one has themed laser to this extent and it was important that we get it right, so we went straight to the source,” said Lynton. “We flew to Los Angeles to meet with Amalgamated Dynamics Inc headed by the Creature Effects Creators of Alien vs. Predator, Tom Woodruff Jnr and Alec Gillis, to keep the attraction as consistent to the movie as possible.” AVPX is included in the Dreamworld entry price.
